I know what you mean mate, not driven mine for over a year now and I’m itching to get it back out on the road to drive and enjoy. Personally I’d repair your turbos and get it back on the road whilst building a second engine with the single kit. That way you get to have it back quicker to drive, and you can sell your existing engine/twin setup to recoup some cost when the new built engine is ready to install. 202 black is a great colour, just a headache keeping it looking fresh, but I hear you on wanting to keep it original from a value perspective my friend. Best of luck with the respray and rebuild and let us know what you decide on the engine/single build, I’m planning to do mine at some point, but think I’ll wait so I can drive and show the car for a bit first. Cheers for now. Pete

My Supra - Progress so far, next steps and build thread
Peter P replied to Peter P's topic in mkiv Supra Projects
Afternoon All, So bit more progress on the interior. All glass work now in so cabin is dust free. Matt has been busy installing the rear seat, the reverse camera mirror is now in, as are the carbon inner door handles, lower carbon glovebox and carbon centre console lid. The new boot mat and floor mats are also in. Unfortunately my Carbing rear strut brace doesn’t fit. Annoying as I had it powdercoated in the dark copper to match the front brace. It’s not even close as it’s too long. I’ve decided to hold off on fitting the carbon windscreen scuttle panel, will look at this again when we paint the engine bay. Ordered a new OEM scuttle panel in the meantime, so once that turns up we can get the bonnet fitted. Once that’s done we are just waiting on the new wheels and my reworked headlights from Harry Moore. Car can then go to SRD for the next stage. -
Nos Facelift Chrome Headlight Rings + more parts

No worries mate. You’re first on the lower bumper retainer so that’s cool. Had someone ask on the cf exhaust shroud, but waiting to hear if he’s buying it. Price is £60 plus postage if you’re not able to collect mate. If he doesn’t want it would do £90 posted for the two. -

So few more photos. Also got a good used set of upper drip seals for the body/above the doors. I fitted new ones so no longer needed. £20 each plus postage. Rear crash bar. I got a new one as bodyshop thought this was incomplete, but it’s fine. There is some surface rust as to be expected, but in better shape than some I’ve seen. I’d let this go for £30 and pick up only unless you want to sort your own Courier collection given the weight of it. Last up is the lower bumper retainer. This is brand new and unused in the box. £20 plus postage. Any questions, let me know. Cheers. Pete -
Morning All, Got a few bits I no longer need. Brand new set of Nos facelift headlight chrome rings. Unfortunately there was no easy way to use this in conjunction with the the Whifbitz carbon headlight inserts I bought. Paid £130 plus postage, looking for £100 collected or plus postage for the set of 6 rings. Next up is a titanium bonnet stay. Got this from Shane for £100 or so. Not needed anymore as I switched to a set of Whifbitz carbon bonnet lifters. Would take £50 collected or plus postage. I also have a set of used/good condition rear quarter glasses as I bought new for the rebuild. I’ll get some photos. I’d take £50 for the pair plus postage. Finally (for now) new Whifbitz carbon rear bumper exhaust shroud/protector. Unfortunately the TwinZ diffuser means I can’t use this so it’s for sale. New these are £119, I’ll take £60 plus postage. Photo to follow. Parts are with me in Higham, Kent for anyone who wants to collect. If you want me to post, add £10 to prices (if you buy more than one part would be £10 postage for multiple parts). Bank transfer preferred or can pay cash on collection. PM if you have any questions. Thanks for looking. Pete

Hey Lee, Thats a stunning car mate, pricing seems fair given what these are going for these days, especially as it’s the aerotop model and looks to be in really nice condition. Sorry to see you selling, but hopefully it won’t be the end mate. I had to sell mine ages ago to be all sensible and get on the property ladder, but thankfully I’m now back in the club and building a new one. Regretted selling it and it took me over 10yrs to get another one. Can’t see this hanging around long mate. Best of luck with the sale and hope you get what you want for it mate.

Looking good mate. Said it before, but it’s all the little bits and attention to detail that make the difference. I feel you on the part delays, got bits I’m waiting on as well for mine. My Work wheels are built, according to Driftworks they were on a boat that was leaving Japan end of last week, so hopefully not too much longer till they arrive. Keep up the good work fella.

Looking very clean mate, these look so good in white. Very nice.

My Supra - Progress so far, next steps and build thread

Hi Folks, Had some more news and photos from Matt today. New windscreen and seal fitted along with the new rear quarter glasses. Front screen trim has a couple marks in it, but think that’s pretty normal and to be expected really (from storage/packing). It’s another big step towards getting the car finished and back on the road. Big thank you to Matt and his brother for getting the glass work finished. -
Not sure mate, it’s from one of Paul’s/Whifbitz contacts. Doubt it’s any of the bigger brands.
-
Thanks mate. Sadly no, not seen anything with vents. All of these are moulded with only the screw holes cut out. Guessing I can add some small holes if it causes any issues, but based on the fact no one has complained or posted any issues with these (I’m told plenty have been sold), I should be ok. Will see how it goes as can always fit a new OEM panel if needed.

Thanks mate, will drop him a PM.

All valid points, issue is my condenser is scrap and I am unsure what else needs replacing to get it working properly. I was under the impression most parts for the air conditioning system are obsolete? If I can source replacements then I will probably keep it especially as I am hopefully going to use the carbon scuttle panel which must restrict cabin airflow as there are no holes to draw in the air? I’m hoping someone here has fitted the carbon scuttle and can share some tips and even a photo or two of the install (mainly around the bonnet hinges as think this is where we need to cut and trim to get it to fit properly).

Nice mate, sounds good.

Personal choice really, it’s an old system and takes up space/robs power. I’m only using the car for high days and holidays (not daily driver), so can live without it. Appreciate people may disagree/ have their opinions as with most things.

Afternoon Folks, Hoping someone on here may have fitted one of these Whifbitz carbon scuttle panels and have some tips/pointers on how to fit it right? We offered it up on my car as front screen is out and bonnet is off (so good access) and it doesn’t seem to fit very well. Just wondering if anyone else had issues and if so, what you did to solve it and get it to fit right? We can try chopping it about to make it sit properly, but obviously won’t be able to send it back if we do and it still doesn’t fit right. Also anyone who has one installed, how do you get on in terms of your air vents/air flow? I noticed the OEM trim has lots of slots for airflow, there are none on the carbon version. I’d have thought that could be an issue for drawing in air to circulate in the car, but happy to hear differently from anyone who has one of these fitted? It’s quite important for me as I am ditching the aircon system so be useful to know if I can still use the air vents etc. Thanks in advance for any tips or help folks. Pete

Agreed, I would love the opportunity to do more work myself, but never seem to have enough time. Do think you get an extra sense of pride and achievement if some or all of the work is your own. Keep up the good work mate.

Hey Ric, Glad to hear the MOT went without a hitch, I had faith it would as you can tell you look after it mate. Nice work on the sound deadening, looks like a good job. Hopefully see you at a show or two at some point, getting close to having mine back on the road so fingers crossed it happens mate.

Thank you mate, means a lot. Glad you like the tinted indicators, has to be one of my favourite custom touches that Matt has done, they work really well. -

Afternoon Folks, Popped down to see Matt and the car this morning. Front bumper is now on and looking mighty fine. Front indicators are all wired up and working, plus the front number plate and flipper are all done and working well. Hoping the front screen turns up next week. IMG_1364.MOV -
Welcome Amy, Very nice collection of cars you have going on there. I may have a set of wheels and tyres to sell fairly soon, just waiting on my new ones to arrive from Japan. I also have a new set of suspension to fit which will mean the existing setup will be for sale at a good price if it’s all ok when Lee P/SRD remove it for me. Ive added a couple of photos of the wheels. These are 18’s, tyres are hardly used and have lots of tread left. Currently in bronze, but could be re-done in other colours if needed. Car was black and is now grey, but actually think the wheels still work really well personally. Suspension I believe is HSD monopro coilovers from Garage Whifbitz. Retail is £775, and they are only around 3yrs old with over a year of that unused as car has been off the road with the bodyshop. Rides well for road or occasional track use, but I wanted the HKS MAX4 GT’s so have a set of those to fit at SRD. If you have any interest in wheels & tyres or suspension (or both), let me know and we can figure it out. Best of luck with the new car and keep us posted on the final colour choice as well. All the best, Pete

Welcome! Lovely looking car you and you’re Bruv have there. Would love to see some engine bay pics and also details of the turbo you guys are using. Should be a weapon once it’s bedded in and running properly. Best of luck with it and keep us posted on your progress getting it back out on the road where it belongs.
