My Supra - Progress so far, next steps and build thread
Peter P replied to Peter P's topic in mkiv Supra Projects
Thanks, the old setup was no good and trying to get the car in and out without hitting the frame was a challenge, this should work a lot better! Thanks, I actually bought the house for the garage! Let the Wife check the actual house, then waited patiently for over 5yrs as we did the house (roof off for insulation, new windows and doors, new kitchen, new boiler, rebuilt the laundry room at the back). Decided it was time to finally do the garage, so rather than move we borrowed a bit more on the mortgage to do this and some interior re-modelling. Should give me the perfect setup and I have a garage 30secs down the road who let me use their ramp if needed. Thanks, hoping to get a bit more done this week whilst we are off work. Indeed, the workstation should offer plenty of storage for both car and house tools, I also have a single bench buried at the back of what was the studio room I will re-locate for extra storage and cleaning stuff. Will see how I go and order some racking if needed. -

So nothing new to report on the car, but the garage now has its nice new door installed. I’ve also made a good start with my Son at removing the studio inside. Will be starting again with the wiring thanks to a mate, so should be a nice home for the Supra when it’s all done. Hoping to get the inside painted and the new workstation setup at the back whilst I’m off work this week. Wish me luck! -
I was going to try my luck with the guys at the Kwik-Fit I know well. They did my new Wedsports when I had the ISF, only charged me £60 I seem to recall for fitting and balancing, but they weren’t as pricey as the new ones. Worried now, but I’ll cross that bridge when the time comes! Lol.

So I’m in for fun when my Works finally turn up! Lol.

Nice! Looking damn good mate, bet you’re itching to get the car back and put them on? That does seem a bit pricey for the fitting and balancing, but if they did it well and didn’t damage the wheels, it’s worth it I guess.

Thanks mate. Funnily enough I was thinking along the same lines as far as a Supra logo, but kind of like them as they are. I had illuminated door sills in my ISF, did look nice, but not sure I’d want them on the Supra. Still got my footwell lights to add at some point. -

Good to know mate, seemed like a good setup for not silly money. Won’t get to install mine for a bit longer as I have some bits that belong to my Brother left in the studio to clear first. Hoping won’t be too long as would be nice to get it all built and installed. I liked the fact they were grey and went with the stainless worktops as well. Nice to hear from someone who has them though. -

Evening Folks, So been another productive day on the garage re-model. Got the framing and cladding all done and dusted. Skip hopefully going on Monday and RDC here on Tuesday to install the new door. Ramp from driveway to garage should be done next weekend as well. All on target to give the Supra a nice home when it returns. Popped to see Matt as well today to drop off my new carbon inner door sills (thanks to Paul/Whifbitz). Hoping the headlights are done soon so I can get it over to SRD for the first bit of work which is new radiator, service and MOT. More updates next week when the new door to the garage is installed. Good weekend all. -

Thank you buddy, will be a great home for the Supra when it’s all done, lots still to do, but it’s getting there now. Should have the cladding up tomorrow to seal in above the new steel, then it’s a waiting game till Tuesday when RDC are here to install the new door. -
Now sold.

Afternoon All, So chased up Driftworks today on my Works wheels, apparently they are waiting to clear U.K. Customs and that’s likely to be another 3 weeks! Gutted as that’s my hopes of doing Go Japan at Brands out the window. On the garage front, been a hive of activity here today. They’ve bricked up the old single glazed windows so just need to get them rendered at some point. The front has been demolished with the new thicker steel now installed and site made safe until the chippies turn up tomorrow to do the framing and cladding. I also snapped a photo of the studio that needs to be removed inside on the right so I can have a proper double garage to work in. I’ll do some more updates tomorrow. -

Will PM you in a second chap. In terms of sizes etc, believe these are 8.5’ up front, 9.5’ at the rear. I’m not running any spacers and I can confirm these comfortably clear my large K-Sport brake setup as seen in the photos. Tyre sizes are 235/40/18 front, 265/30/18 rear. Will PM my address over for you. -
Welcome Louis, Nice ride and love the fact you did most of the manual conversion yourself (no easy task!). Car looks great and I’m sure you enjoy the luxury feel only an LS can offer, my old man had one and it was such a smooth ride with plenty of pick up when you needed it. Best of luck with the supercharger, I added a kit from RR-Racing to my ISF and loved it. Was a Rotrex from memory. Needed a lot of work and precision to get it all in the engine bay, but looked great when it was all done. Enjoy! Cheers. Pete

Hey Folks, So no real updates on the car, Matt has been finishing up his bits and we are just waiting on the new wheels (due to land tomorrow hopefully!), and my re-worked headlights from the talented Harry Moore. Hoping both are here and fitted soon so it can venture over to SRD for the first phase of work. Will get the new radiator installed (current one is leaking), a full service and the all important MOT. That way it’s road legal and I can hopefully get it to Go Japan at Brands Hatch at the end of September. It can then go back when Lee/SRD are a bit clearer for the rest of the work I’ve paid for. That includes: new HKS Hypermax suspension and setup, new TRD engine mounts with Whifbitz conversion brackets (early type which are better), gearbox cooler, BPU work, pedals, AFR gauge install and the new steering wheel with paddle shift to replace the tiptronic buttons. In other exciting and related news, the car’s home (my double garage) is getting re-built in the next couple of weeks. Losing the central pillar, thicker steel, single electric 5m garage door from RDC, new concrete ramp from the driveway to the garage for easier access (had rubber ramps before I had to lay out every time I took it out or put it back!). I’ve also treated myself to a whole new workshop setup which arrived today on two pallets. Can’t build them just yet as need to finish clearing out the studio the previous owner installed, then they can go along the entire back wall (5m width so should be perfect). I’ll also get my new floor in grey and black tile early next year to finish it off. Couple of photos for reference, will post some more when it’s done. -

If you wanted to arrange a Courier, That’s fine with me mate. I have a couple of pallets here I could use and some bin bags, but I think there are firms that handle wheel transportation out there? You’d need to check and confirm you are happy with the added costs as doubt it’s cheap! Guess it depends on circumstances, for comparison I needed my headlights re-worked by Harry Moore, so I drove them to Manchester and came back the same day! Long drive, but will be worth it when I get them back. -

Hi mate, Got one other interested party on the wheels and tyres, but nothing finalised yet. I’m based in Higham, Kent which is near Rochester mate. -

I’ll keep that in mind mate. If first chap doesn’t want it will be in touch. Cheers. Pete -
No one? I’d take £200 if that helps? Got it advertised through Facebay as well, but getting the usual idiots offering silly money! Be nice to sell to someone normal! Lol.

Thank you mate, just trying to be fair and help some fellow owners out if I can. -
Afternoon Folks, Thought I’d see if anyone here is interested in buying my existing tool boxes? I’ve ordered a complete workshop setup, so these are no longer needed. Had them around 10yrs, and apart from a bit of colour fade (you can see the middle section is newer and brighter red than the other two), these are in great shape and work fine. Importantly come with the keys (not lost like most I see!). Got the top box, middle box and lower box which is on wheels. Will clean up well and all stickers are staying on but can be removed easily enough with a heat gun or hairdryer. I would like £250ono for the three, no tools included obviously as I’m keeping those for my new setup. Given size, collection preferred from Kent, but you can also arrange a courier if you so wish (costs on you). PM me if you want the post code and address to check distance etc. Thanks for looking. Pete
