    my blow off valve sounds like how you would describe it. i am using the hks racing type II bov...and it sounds amazing!!

  4. i just installed the restrictor ring i got from chris, so what kind of boost am i expecting? 1bar ? 1.2 bar? i am running both decats by the way.
  5. i too was using the gredd profec b II...i hated it because it was to hard to adjust.....very complicated EBC. when i had it, i was hitting 1bar even 1.2bar and get fuel cut. i was also getting boost creep, adjusted the EBC a lot but still didnt get the right specs. my boost would drop and climb back up as well. so, i took out EBC and FCD and now i am hitting consistent 14psi with both decatts; no restrictor ring though. my set up is different from others here. i swapped aristo jspec motor on my soarer.
  6. yes, it's a twin turbo 3.0 aristo being swap on my toyota soarer.
  7. the soarer comes with standard dual exhaust. i changed the piping to 2.5"inch all the way back; no catts, no ring at all.
  8. the problem i was facing when i had the EBC was that i was already hitting 1.2bar before 2nd turbo kicks in. i know for a fact it's true because 2nd turbo does not kick in until around 4000rpm. i was hitting 1.2 bar maybe with 1st turbo. i dont have standard cat back on anymore. no more catts either, all gone ! i am running 2.5" from downpipe all the way back to aftermarket mufflers. the soarer has standard dual exhaust, which was 2 1/4inch pipping...stock! i opted out to have 2.5" all the way after the aristo swap. i am also running a "free" flow cat...not even close to being "restrictive". do you think i should put one cat back to get back pressure? i dont know. for some reason i am not hitting 1bar nor 1.2bar with my set up right now. i guess it's different having aristo swap on my soarer.
  9. it's just weird that i am not boosting 1.2 bar with both decatts and no restrictor ring. i am running fmic, colder plugs, and walbro pump. before however, i was using greddy boost controller and i was always hitting 1.2bar but then i was hitting fuel cut, even with 2nd turbo "not" kicking in. now, i took out boost controller and still running decatts and no ring, i am boosting about 14psi. so , is that ok ?
  10. hehe.......i dont have 2.5 tt that is for sure. i have an aristo engine.
  11. i am planning to do a bleeder valve on my aristo engine. do i just get the "T" fitting and fit it between the wastegate and vsv or do i need to get the manual boost controller instead to get better results? what do you guys suggests?
  12. tks for your replies guys. heckler: how did you achieve over 1.2bar with both decatts and no restrictor ring? are you running colder plugs and fmic? i am running fmic and colder plugs but no fcd. chiefvinso: my tubbies are ok, 2nd turbo kicks in normally as it should. i have the soarer chassis but with "aristo" engine and yes it's 2.5. i believe it's the same engine as you guys on jspec supra. maybe i should put 1 cat back and see what happens.
  13. do any of you guys achieve 1bar or even 1.2bar with decatts but no restrictor ring? is that possible? the reason i asked is that i have both decatts and running 2.5" pipping all the way back but with no restrictor ring (still waiting for it from Chris). i think i am boosting .09 most of the time with both decatts. for your information, i have a soarer with jspec on it and with dual exhaust, not single like you guys. tks for your help.
  14. hey guys, when i start up my car in the morning, there is this slight smell of oil burnt coming out of the exhaust then it disappears about maybe 30 seconds. is that normal or i might have problems with the twins? tks for your help.
  15. i went to muffler shop today and had an idea but not sure if it will work. since my exhaust piping is 2.5 inches in diameter, i was thinking of welding a flange of 2.5" but with 2 1/4" opening on my exhaust piping. will that give me enought back pressure? it's a "triangle" type flange but with 2 1/4 inche in diameter. let me know what you guys think.
  16. ok guys, if i decide to put one of the cats back to get some back pressure, which one should i use? the one closest to the engine or the other close to the exhaust? i still have my boost controller but not hooked up. i just basically put everything back to stock boost. right now, i am boosting close to 1bar but not over. i am also using 2.5" full exhaust all the way back. my question is, if i decide to use my boost controller again, should i put one of the cats back so that i can raise the boost up to 1.2 at least? also, since i am located in the usa, i have no means of getting the restrictor ring like you guys out there. so, is there any alternative for the restrictor ring? i read that the ring is like a "plate" with a hole in the center. can you guys tell me what size or how big is that hole so that maybe i can have someone here make me one? appreciate your help fellas......tks for your time.
  17. i have taken out the boost control i was using (greddy profec b II) because i was having a hard time making some adustments. i would hit fuel cut now and then, even with fcd installed. i only get readings on 1st turbo, didnt really get to feel the 2nd turbo kick in as fuel cut occurs all the time. my settings with the controller was 1.2bar max . now, i am only boosting close to 1bar with both turbos. i have both decats and should i put the greddy boost controller back and install one cat back in order to get proper boost to at least 16 or 17psi? what should i do? need help.........
  18. what is your purpose of installing the 550's? did you swap to usdm twins?
  19. i tried to loosen the screws...........boy they were tight and coudn't get it off !!

  22. since i have jspec on my toyota soarer, does anyone have taken out the traction butterfly located before the throttle body? has anyone done this? is there any hp gains by doing this mod? i've seen this mod on mkiv.com for US supras but i am not sure for jspec tt. tks for any comments...
