  1. Managed to clean the IACV and no joy. It's there anyway to test these?
  2. yes its firing out black smoke whilst it trying to settle so its certainly seems to be over fuelling. Just found a guide to cleaning the IACV so ill try that first
  3. okay still pretty lost, the car starts really lumpy for about 10 seconds then smooths out and idles fairly normally, but AFR is constantly reading 10 until i blip the throttle and it rises to about 12 then goes back to 10. i connected the ecu to my tablet (standard aem software) and noticed with the engine off when i press the accelerator down the throttle percentage rises and falls as you would expect which says to me the ecu is getting a normal throttle reading. could the wide band sensor have gone? Why would the afr read as if im on full throttle/boost?
  4. Sorry I don't follow. Are you saying the AFR is reading wrong therefore sending the wrong signal to the ECU. - - - Updated - - - Sorry I don't follow. Are you saying the AFR is reading wrong therefore sending the wrong signal to the ECU.
  5. Just got the car home. Had a little look around and the throttle body and the the throttle stop lever (circled in picture) seems to have a lot of play. It spins and doesn't seem secure. I take it the throttle stop screw touches the lever pushing it down slightly when throttle is closed. I'll do the multi metre check in a second.
  6. thanks for the link, thats a good start. Just a thought, is it common for this to just change mid drive?
  7. Hello, Just on my way to visit my sister in hospital when I noticed the car seemed to be over revving. It wasn't too apparent until i pulled up to some lights and the car was revving to about 2500 on its own. I check the pedal wasn't stuck and it was fine. I managed to get the car to the hospital. The AFR shows 10 whilst its revving as I guess the extra throttle is making it inject more fuel. I disconnected the battery just to see if the ECU (AEM V2) was having a funny five minutes but when tried to start it again it nearly fired but didnt until i pushed down a little on the gas pedal. I cant see anything in the engine like a disconnected pipe or anything but have noticed a very slight coolant drip from the main pipe right behind and just about the block. Could it be the idle control? Im pretty stuck as I cant leave the car here and i live about 7 miles away. Any ideas very much appreciated.
  8. Anyone know what amp cable I should use to extend the the wiper motor plug. Im tidying the loom and need to extend the 5 wires. Cheers
  9. Hello, Just after a little advice on how people have secured their wiring looms behind the wheel arch liners when tidying up the engine bay. I'm concerned the thickness of the loom will mean the linings have difficulty going back in. If anyone had any pics of how they have done it that would really help. I'm only doing the drivers side at the moment. I'll move the fuse box to the boot when I have a weekend to myself. Secondly how have people plugged all the gaps once the cable holders etc have been removed. Many thanks in advance for any help.
  10. Just to update this for future reference it was the coil packs. My symptoms were as I said from the technical ref link in my first thread. Thanks for all the replies and help.
  11. Im not sure its happening long enough after starting. Yesterday is was about 5 mins in.
  12. okay good shout, ill pop out to the garage later and give that go.
  13. I changed these not too long ago. I checked these and they still go on and off without feeling like they are going to brake. The issue only started when the car had gone single.
  14. Hello, Had a problem with my car under full boost. Its seems to feel like a misfire and the description of article 2a in the below link gives a pretty accurate account of what im getting, especially as its on a single turbo as described in the link. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?35931-Misfire-under-boost-(plus-misfire-diagnosis) So my question is, does anyone have a set of fully working coil packs that they wouldn't mind me borrowing for a quick test before I go out and spend a small fortune on new ones. Im in outter SW London and happy to travel or pay postage if anyone could help me out. I cant remember if it matters but its a UK spec. Many thanks in advance for any help.
  15. I'm a little out of London now, down the A3 towards Chessington
  16. Hello, Anyone know a good place near SW London / M25 where I could get a customer prop shaft made to fit to a E46 six speed box to a supra. Also apart from conversion plate/clutch/gearbox. What else is needed to convert the supra to this gearbox. I am looking the ABC kit that comes with most parts to fit the box and keep the original starter. I have also been fortunate to acquire a none ragged E46 six speed from an M3, which has pushed me to take the plunge and look at starting the conversion. Thanks in advance for any replies.
  17. Thats what i was thinking, im planning on keeping the car so having readily available spares does seem more appealing. Its just the ratios for CD009 vs the M3 box which i dont fully understand and would like to know which is the best match.
  18. Hello, Time has come to upgrade the gearbox. I won’t go through the whole back story but I’ve ended up with a single turbo running a W58. Despite what everyone says it been good to me, I’ve just had to be a little more gentle when feeding in the power and I have it mapped to the lowest boost setting. Anyway I’m looking at this as a long term thing as I will never sell the car as it’s worth more in parts. So the thought of £3-6k for a R154 or V160/1 does really work for me. More recently I’ve seen the CD009 conversion from the 350z and the more I read about that v’s the BMW conversion the more it makes sense. You can get a brand new box from Nissan for £1600 and that’s the later model. So I guess what I’m asking is, has anyone done the conversion and can they share their experience, and does anyone know if the ratios would work. If you think this is a completely bad ideas I’m happy to listen to advice. All I’m trying to do here is future proof the car. Many thanks in advance for any replies.
  19. Cars currently a manual. How many hours work would you say it is. Cheers
  20. Hello, Could do with some help/guidance on a full r154 conversion. I’m not actively looking as super busy right now but one has popped up and I’m needing some help on price etc. The box is the one from the Chaser, which with my understanding is the better one. The deal also includes everything for mkiv conversion. The box has been professionally rebuilt with new seals/bearings. I guess I’m trying to get a gauge on what I should pay Any advice much appreciated. Cheers
  21. Ill Pm you my number, give me a shout when you have a minute if you dont mind. Cheers
  22. Im over near Chessington. I did read about that but got the impression it was a little dodgy. Cheers
