  1. You thought it, then agreed with yourself. Seems entirely logical.
  2. You'd be better off using consumer-facing companies for this rather than trade-facing ones such as Glass's. I used Parkers. They're the best in the whole world.
  3. With £92k on the clock I get the following: Franchised (main) dealer: £6,065 Independent dealer: £5,750 Private sale in good condition: £5,125 Private sale in poor condition: £4,040 Part exchange: £4,500
  4. Make sure you get an ACCURATE idea of what the car is worth from a site like www.parkers.co.uk and then make sure they offer you that price. If they don't, point them towards the site you've used. You shouldn't have to settle for what they offer if it's too low.
  5. Lovely motor. Nice work.
  6. Sounds like you lost
  7. For my money the boxer is a nice little engine in this application. Peak torque is between 6,400-6,600rpm so you do have to give it a bit of a kicking, but there's a nice useable powerband. It sounds good too. There's a resonator in the exhaust system. It doesn't sound as 'lumpy' as an Impreza turbo, it's a more refined experience.
  8. I did a lot of miles in one last week on road and track. I think you'll be surprised how much you like it. I was. Interestingly, the TRD bits available from Toyota dealerships will mean you can keep your Toyota warranty... that'll be a big deal for early buyers. The V8 you mention wouldn't do it for me. The beauty of the chassis is in the low driving position coupled with the low placement of the boxer engine, meaning a very low centre of gravity. You simply can't have that with a V8.
  9. Personally, I'd rather it was supercharged. A turbo would take some of the fun out of it. The designer's response to the suggestion of forced induction was funny though... he wanted a pure sports car so the only way forward was NA. He reacted the same way when someone asked if they were considering a diesel engine
  10. All day long. It's a huge step up. Incredibly, even the gear shift (one of the MX-5s best points) is better. The chassis is just so rewarding to drive. As standard it comes with Prius tyres, and is SO much better because of that. I was also surprised how good the automatic 'box is. Although only a 'normal' torque convertor rather than twin clutch, it's the fastest of its type available. It also blips the throttle on down-shifts, and that never fails to make me smile.
  11. The car has been built to be modified - the chief designer told me that last week
  12. I absolutely love the GT86. It's probably the best driver's car you can buy sub-Porsche Cayman.
  13. Yep, and they're extremely successful racing them too.
  14. I meant you have to stand on the brake, build revs and spool the turbos before getting the best out of the GTR. That's how I pulled my 3.3 seconds a few weeks back. It's tenuous, but might give the Supra driver a hope in hell of keeping up. MIGHT
  15. The launch control in the GTR does require a bit of time to 'prime' though so a Supra with a decent driver might stand half a chance.
  16. Develop a unique product, sell it, build a business? I know you have the ability to do that. It won't happen overnight though.
  17. Don't forget the GTR has a LOT of weight and is generally a big old car. I think a few of you would be surprised. It'll all rest on the launch, but if from a rolling start or you caught the GTR driver napping it'd be close. I did 3.3 seconds to 62mph in a GTR a few weeks ago at Nissan's test track, but I still maintain my old Supra was a far more exciting car to drive.
