  1. Yep advantage of 750MC is that I've already raced in it and know the scrutineers and board members, plus loads of people in the paddock. It's held on decent tracks too. It would be good to show a few of those MR2 racers who's boss
  2. I'd stay closer to 600bhp. That's still too fast to use properly in the UK, and you won't have to open the engine.
  3. 750 Motor Club Roadsports.
  4. Those cars wouldn't qualify for the series I'm looking at - building the car shouldn't be a problem since the regs are quite specific. It's more about getting the operation together and then getting the thing going quickly around corners that'll be the challenge.
  5. I am not talking about track days. A little more serious than that!
  6. That's what it'll hinge on... but as I say, the amount of eyeballs I can get looking at sponsor logos should help in that stretch! Plus the fact that the car could be stored at a business premises between races, and hospitality package could be arranged for clients including hot laps etc. I've got a good business case - just need a team now!
  7. Yeah, the costs get silly. Even the stuff I've been doing is ridiculous, but frankly it's more addicitive than heroin.
  8. why 740bhp?! That's a very specific target...
  9. Nah, it'll need building from the ground up to proper race regs
  10. Hi all, As some of you may know, I'm into a bit of proper motorsport. None of this drifting, drag or sprint rubbish I've found a series in which the Supra can be raced, so I was wondering whether anyone has considered building a proper, fully developed race car out of their Supra. We all know that the Toyota-funded cars were effectively a Supra shell on top of a race chassis, but does anyone know of a successfully raced car based on the Supra platform? The series I've found has three classes based on power-to-weight, so it's entirely possible a well set-up car could be very competitive. It would also make fantastic advertising for anyone involved, and I can guarantee coverage in some of the biggest motoring titles. So, with that in mind, does anyone fancy getting a car together? We'd need two drivers (with a race licence and some experience, ideally) and some support crew to work on the car. There would be six 45-minute races in a year, and both drivers would do 50% each. That's a LOT of racing compared to most club-level stuff.
  11. But if you buy your tax online or even from your smartphone once you've agreed the sale, then you're taxed instantly. - - - Updated - - - It's not just you though, is it?
  12. Yeah, let's all waste silly amounts of paper and man hours costing the tax paying public millions so Roger NE can pootle around looking at whether random cars have paid their car tax or not. Brilliant.
  13. MVP sell them. It's just a lip that sticks to the stock bumper.
  14. If you're driving a car for someone else and you get caught with no tax, then I'm sorry, but that's your own fault. If there were any circumstances which would absolve you of guilt, then the police will take that into consideration when dealing with you from the outset. Are you a trader then?
  15. But why does it even matter? You can still tax it by post, in a post office or even by fax (IIRC).

    ID this bumper

Looks like a Top Secret gen 3 to me.
  17. No you're not. Besides, an MOT doesn't make a car exactly road-worthy anyway, and a tax disc is absolutely nothing to do with it. They're pointless, which is why it's good they're being binned.
  18. Never heard that one before.
  19. If the job was done perfectly, why? I understand NA-TT cars being worth less, but I'm not sure the gearbox swap has the same effect...
  20. If it's not, what's going to happen? It'll be a simple conversation with the copper. They'll probably just clamp the car until it's paid, and you won't be liable for that.
  21. Why do *you* need to see if someone has tax? Simple answer: you don't. You need to know if the car you're driving is insured, which is simple enough to prove if needs be. This is a rare step forwards from the Government. Less paper, less hassle and your windscreen looks better. What's not to like?
  22. I used lemon juice and it worked brilliantly
