  1. That might be contentious. Mine was around 600bhpish and was great on 265-profile rubber.
  2. In my experience they're awful. The interior falls apart, switchgear is flimsy and that rat's nest of a wiring loom is a proper nightmare if anything goes wrong. My best friend has owned his for about eight years now and it's been no end of hassle. Last time I got in it the door handle fell off
  3. Single-figure mpg figures on the motorway... I'd not call that 'modest'! Plus the build quality is generally terrible. It's not just the engines on the RX7s that you need to be careful of. If it were me I'd be looking at another Toyota for reliability. I quite like the idea of a turbocharged mk3 MR2, but it would need serious work before I'd be able to drive it without a paper bag on my head. Would an auto TT really scratch the itch? How about an NA/T conversion so you can do the gears yourself?
  4. Maybe he thought yours was a diesel with an S Line bodykit.
  5. meanwhile, in Hull... http://www.thepoke.co.uk/2014/05/19/meanwhile-in-hull/
  6. I can answer all of that in one hit: have a search. It's all been covered loads of times before
  7. Welcome. I live in onion country too at the moment. Get some quotes from specialist insurance companies and you might be surprised.
  8. Lovely looking Supra. A few tiny tweaks and it'll be perfect.
  9. The thing is, no matter how much experience you've got, the Supra takes a while to learn properly so getting yourself familiar in an off-road environment is priceless. I've done all manner of driver training, competitive driving at various levels and I have owned a few Supras, so would like to think I'm fairly well qualified in this area. That said, you shouldn't be intimidated by the Supra either. It's not a widow-maker. Just a bit of a handful
  10. Stock TT6 and some driver training lessons. It'll be the best cash you spend on the Supra.
  11. The Supra is faster with an auto 'box.
  12. Personally I'd find yourself a stock TT6 and modify it yourself. While you're doing that, use it to learn to drive. Stepping straight into a single-turbo monster is generally a shortcut to a coffin.
  13. It affects the resale value of the car, and so has to be taken into consideration IMO. A converted auto is worth less than a true manual car since it's been modified.
  14. The VIN. From there you can decode which engine, diff and gearbox should be fitted using the guides on here and tally everything up. That's a very good question. Technically it wouldn't be a matching numbers car if any of the parts had been swapped for new ones, but obviously in some cases it's completely unavoidable. This situation should we dealt with in a car advert really to avoid any confusion. After all, a car that's done 21,000 miles on the original engine is going to be worth more than one that's had its engine swapped. There's the question of why it was swapped and also uneven wear on the rest of the car's components to consider.
  15. It's a classic car thing really. The Supra is one now.
  16. I saw this phrase in a thread today so thought I'd open up my own one for people who search for it. 'Matching numbers' is a phrase we're all going to have to become familiar with on this site. It refers to a car whose chassis number matches the mechanical components of the car. That means it's as Toyota intended and hasn't had an engine swap, a gearbox conversion or a diff replacement. A matching numbers Supra will always be more valuable than an equivalent modified version. For instance, a low-miles matching numbers UK-spec TT6 would be highly desirable, but less so if it's an import NA of the same year converted to the same specification. We're at a period now where it's likely the properly desirable Supras are going to increase in value fairly quickly, so I suspect we'll be hearing this phrase more and more
  17. Moved to projects section as requested

    Gt500 kit

Using Google to search reveals this: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=gt500+supra+bodykit&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&gfe_rd=cr&ei=yyCYU_7iAamB7Qa9yoGgCg
  19. http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Search-Results/Spyshots/Toyota-and-BMW-project-Silk-Road-2-will-sire-new-Supra-and-Z7/ Now this looks exciting! Pitched at exactly the right market for a new Supra, too. It'll have to be better than the class-leaders - the 911 and Jaguar F-Type. Love the idea of the straight-six TT engine in there! Sounds like it'll be hybrid too, which is a good thing. A 150bhp boost will be nice. The only thing I'm not sure about is the auto 'box, but judging on how successful the previous model was as an auto I suppose it's not surprising. I'm a big fan of the weight (relatively similar to mkiv) and it sounds like it has potential in terms of brakes and suspension too.
  20. Definitely go TT first.
  21. Welcome! Insurance must be a killer on that! What's the plans regarding the turbo conversion?
  22. It was too loud for me in my car... and I was driving behind the decatted NA at the time! I have no idea how anyone lives with it.
  23. I'd say for that sort of money I'd like at least one picture of the car as it'll be when I pay for it. That means everything shut, the right wheels on and clean. I'd also like a full set of pictures of the car including any paintwork problems highlighted. Basically, you've spent a long time on the advert, but it could be more complete to ask that amount of cash.
