Without pissing on your fire too much, Brown has been rather unlucky to be in power when all this kicked off. The credit crunch is certainly not a direct result of his policies, that's plainly obvious if you know anything about the history of economic politics over the past decade. Running an economy is always a balancing act - we're now seeing what happens when it tips a little bit too far. I just think people are a little too quick to jump on the bandwagon and blame everything on the government. The UK population voted in a Labour government for a reason, after all. The grass is not always greener and all that.

Actually the problem is a lot bigger than one man, and has been going on a lot longer than Brown has been in power. All that money and decadence in the 90's don't seem so clever now, does it?

The search function really would have been better than asking the question for the five millionth time but since I'm in a charitable mood: You need a TT engine as a base, then add a single turbo (GT35r or T61 for your desired power). It's likely to cost you the best part of £15k for a fairly good setup. I wouldn't try and do things cheaply, it's a good way to get poor quickly.

You need a second hand gearbox mate, and get someone (Toyota GT?) to weld up the exhaust as a temp fix. The valve stem seals are not a huge problem, just keep the oil topped up. If you drive the car carefully then you don't need to worry about brakes, seals or turbos right this moment. So it's only the gearbox you need right now, no need to panic.

IMO you'd be a fool to do the Lambo one. The Porsche and the GTR will make for a much more interesting day out.
