  1. Talk to people who have done the conversion, and base your plan on their experience. Anything else is akin to an open chequebook.
  2. The noise you're referring to is nothing to do with the wastegate, it's compressor stall as the turbo tries to push back the other way, chopping through the air. This is what a blow off valve tries to prevent.

Howdy... what's the Astra like? Is it the Nurburgring edition? One of them gave me some hassle a few months back in the Supra. He was a good sport though when he'd gotten over the shock of the screamer pipe and gave me thumbs up once he'd caught me up in traffic Make full use of the search button mate, enjoy the forum and good luck with the search.
  4. I do have some sense of style you know!
  5. Oh, and your brakes will look piddly.
  6. Ummm dunno if you noticed but they're shit quality, which was what I was trying to cast your attention towards with my post. Seriously, I've heard horror stories and I've had a bad experience myself. What more do you want me to say?! Oh, and as Homer says, 19s are a joke if you want a Supra to handle properly.
  7. Ultralite 18" nur and save yourself £200 whilst getting better tyres. Not much of a decision IMO I bought the very same Ultralite wheels and I'm very pleased with them... Especially since I made the mistake of traveling to Birmingham and buying some wheels from Wheelmania for a previous car, which fell apart within 6 months. Why do you want 19"?
  8. I was there...ish. I drove through and there was a brief "shall we stop?" moment but it quickly passed and we got ice cream instead.
  9. Basically the wastegate regulates boost pressure. Without one a turbo would spool until something breaks. The wastegate opens at a certain (set) pressure, stopping the turbocharger creating more boost than is required. You can get either internally or externally wastegated turbochargers. The stock TT system is internal (i.e. the wastegate is intergrated into the turbos). External kits are usually used for better boost control or higher boost applications, hence them being included in most aftermarket single turbo kits. As Homer says, unless you've got a single turbo or huge twins it's not something you can change for a benefit. It might be an idea to buy a book such as Street turbocharging to get a basic idea of how things work in cars such as the Supra.
  10. Good work Ash. Might be worth approaching Micheldever Tyres or someone like that for a sponsorship deal for rubber?
  11. Stock is fine but only if it's in good condition.
  12. You thought it was a good car?
  13. I wasn't going to say it... but fair point.
  14. I will go out on a limb here and say that if you don't declare mods to your car and then crash it you won't get a penny from Elephant. If they had rules like that I'd be driving an E-Type jag over a spaceframe with a BMW V8 and a few turbos.
  15. So you're saying I could insure a 1.1 Nova then fit a 5000bhp engine and when I understeer into a wall Elephant will stilll cover me??? Good luck with that one fella.
  16. Are you serious? What exactly do you mean? A Supra can be driven beautifully, and paraded around like a formula 1 driver's plaything. A Supra can be raced, and keep up with the best. A Supra can be thrashed and take on almost anything on the road but a Supra that has been neglected will spit out it's dummy and cry "fuck you!" whilst dying in a cloud of blue smoke. Same for most cars really, just use your head and you'll be fine.
  17. Disagree... the TRD spoiler carries on the lines and makes the Supra contemporaneously aesthetical IMO.
  18. No, I think he has bigger fish to fry.
  19. It would take me far too much effort to explain, but Nizam couldn't get anything, let alone a bullet.
  20. The coming and going of some very memorable 'members' and the promotion/demotion of certain mods and traders. Nothing important though
  21. Get black ones and get a black respray
  22. What boost are you planning to use? The temps go up a LOT if you up the boost over stock when using the OEM cats.
