    help:(

Can you stop swearing please? Also, take a bit of time on your posts. That last one is nearly impossible to understand.
  2. No-one is denying the auto is good for an old-style 'box. It can't begin to compare with a proper modern DCT though... unless you have seamless shifts with no torque drop during changes at all, that is? I know we all love Supras here, but come on - there's a set of good reasons hardly any of the manufacturers use them these days! In general DCTs are quicker AND more efficient.
  3. The best way to improve spool keeping everything else the same is to fit a properly set-up electronic boost controller. Not sure removing the cat will make a huge difference, but then I did both at once so wouldn't know.
  4. The main problem you'll have with fitting a DCT 'box to a Supra is torque. They can't take huge torque loads as a rule. Controlling it should be doable, but that won't be easy either. They're clever things!
  5. At the cheapest end of racing you'll do about £7k in a year for a whole season, absolute minimum. For true club-level racing, that is.
  6. And on the exit of the corner I'll always be in a better gear than you
  7. You can't maintain the stability through braking and then the transition onto power with the sort of auto in the Supra anywhere near as well as you can with a manual. Modern twin-clutch auto's usually have a throttle-blipping function which gets around this.
  8. Now tell me how you're going to match revs effectively on down-shifts so you're in the right part of the torque band on corner exit? But then I suppose you did say it's easy to spin an auto...
  9. Indeed - but it isn't "faster" over a hillclimb course either, as you rightly say, and it also isn't what most enthusiasts are looking for
  10. It isn't. There were far more auto's built. By the way, the automatic might be quicker in a straight line, but not through corners if you can drive the manual properly. It's also not as rewarding to drive.
  11. Go for a decent drive, get to the pub, go for a pint, come back to find your perspex bonnet in bits and your expensive shiny show-off parts nicked. Easy money!
  12. Title changed to remove the swearing and be a bit more helpful to other members.
  13. Will you be applying for trader membership?
  14. I think the problem is that suggesting the wastegate outlet pipe is blocked off shows a basic misunderstanding of turbo systems and their operation. That's going to worry people who think you're fitting single turbo kits to peoples' cars. It's worrying because we don't like seeing members get screwed or be out of pocket needlessly, that's all. It's what you'd call club spirit. It's not really the 'doing it on the cheap' thing, to be honest. We've seen how that goes year after year, so the conversation is a bit pointless.
  15. Beautiful car. Another vote here for keeping it fairly original - careful mods will leave you with a usable, timeless classic. Let me know if you fancy a feature doing. I know a few mags who would be interested.
  16. I wasn't there for your epic result mate I've only seen his trackday ones - has he raced too?
  17. I've done various bits and pieces. A couple of seasons in Formula Vee and some other things. Did the Birkett relay last weekend, actually: http://garethevansuk.kinja.com/the-craziest-race-of-the-year-1652228068 I get various bits through work, but I'm looking to do something more serious next year because I'm hopelessly hooked. There are a few 'proper' racers on here. Plenty more drag racers though - but that's not proper racing
  18. We're just in the business of giving good advice, that's all. I'd imagine your reference to USDM injectors is confusing things, since we'd call them UK spec over here or EU spec in Europe
  19. I'd rather have the peace of mind that I've got a car that can handle what I'm asking of it, personally. Over-engineering is a good thing! Doing a single conversion on the cheap never ends well.
  20. Order the non scratch-and-sniff version and you'll be fine. Just to confirm, you are Scottish, right?
  21. eh? I'm just putting my thoughts across mate, which is exactly what I read into the OP saying "would there be much interest at all in something like that?", since it's not just the people making or starring in the calendar who are affected here. It also seems a bit off to me to suggest that since the Club isn't doing a calendar, you should build one for the Scottish members only. Why not the whole club, if that's the intention?
