  1. Subscribed for someone who looks like they're going to do it properly!
  2. It's your lucky day. Bite their arms off.
  3. The amount of 'missed you' cards I've had through the door when I'm in... unreal. They don't even make the effort to ring the doorbell. Must be fun being a postman if that's their attitude.
  4. It's only a concept car, but that turbocharger system is very interesting. The new Q7 is going to get electric turbocharging first.
  5. Buy something cheap and get saving. It's a total false economy to do anything else. Give it two years and then get something interesting.
  6. They are for a 200mph car!
  7. Just shows that tyres are the single most important thing you buy for a car. Why you'd scrimp and fit cheap ones is completely beyond me.
  8. That engine is pure brilliance. Love it. That's probably where my cash would go for a car like that. I think I may end up with an M6 Gran Coupe instead though.
  9. ...and not as nice to drive as an E63 or a Jag XFR-S
  10. But any car fitted with a Boxer has quite a big handling advantage...
  11. When I had a medium-sized single on standard cams it did something similar as the cams started to choke at higher RPM. I think a better approach would be to expand the area under the torque curve as much as possible with the given turbocharger's efficiency range and then see what boost you're left with at the end. The way I see it, the performance of a compressor is a balance of max boost vs the largest area possible under the curve, so there's always going to be a compromise somewhere. The 1.2 BAR is what Supra tuners have found BPU to work best at over the years.
  12. It would be interesting to compare the costs of both over a three-year period.
  13. Haha nice one! Yeah, Ian is a good bloke. Tell him Gareth Evans sends his regards. I'm on a Ford event with a freelancer he's commissioned next week.
  14. I do indeed. See him quite often on launches. Bumped into him on a Hyundai gig last week, in fact.
  15. I review cars for magazines. Right now I've got a Seat Leon X-Perience for the weekend and a Ford Focus long-termer, but there's another eight cars in the office for me to choose from
  16. If only I had space for a new car... but luckily I'm in a position where I drive something different every night anyway. Had an Aero in a few weeks ago
  17. What sort of discount do we get?
  18. You do have to rev the nuts off the GT86 for it to make progress, but it handles better than the Mazda and having owned a few of both, I'd far rather have Toyota/Subaru build quality! My issue with the BRZ is that you can't have a nicely integrated multimedia system, but I know what you mean about that blue. My Wife very nearly bought one a few months back for that exact reason. I think I'd put up with the niggles of the GT86 just to have a car that's so much fun on your favourite B-road.
  19. But the MX-5 isn't better... well, the mk3 isn't. I've yet to drive the new one. The BRZ is just a budget version of the GT86?
  20. Another price drop for a very under-appreciated modern car. Sure, the engine could do with a bit more power and the cabin isn't the nicest, but this thing will never break. It's brilliant fun in the wet and at low speeds, drives beautifully, has lovely seats and great steering. All for the price of a boring hatchback. Plus you can lease one for less than £300 per month. Oh, and there's a lot of tuning bits on offer already. So come on then chaps - anyone got one? Why aren't they more popular?
  21. Yep, ditto. I think the only car I'd actually choose an auto on would be a modern 911, because that seven-speed manual they're using is woeful and the PDK really is a step above all other twin-clutch 'boxes. The Ferrari ones are great too, but with them you don't get the option of a third pedal at all.
  22. The six-speed DSG 'boxes are suffering with reliability issues at present. I know several people who have had to send their car back to VW or Seat because the box failed, but I've never driven a modded one. What has your friend done to it? Beefed up any components?
  23. Quickest AND fastest! Bloody hell. That's not slow, either way. Well done.
  24. How are they "ugly and slow" if you've never heard of them?
