Interesting thought, but a nightmare to engineer. You'd need to factor in the ability to shut down both banks so you don't get uneven wear, and a management system to switch between them. The R8's V10, for example, only does this in the higher gears - presumably because it would require far more precision at lower speeds in order to work seamlessly. If Audi can't do it...

I'd like to see a Mk4 with Lexus LC500h hybrid power. But I'd prefer it with the V8, which sort of defeats the object as I'd be just as happy with the 2JZ.

I've yet to drive it (looks like the launch is in May at some point) but this is how I feel too. There's enough in the recipe to keep me entertained, anyway. And the platform is brilliant based on my Z4 prototype drive last year.

Go nuts. If it was a UK TT6 I'd worry about its value, but a J-spec decent single will still fetch good cash anyway.

It's likely the first 300 will be 'launch edition' cars of a very high specification. They're the ones to buy if you're thinking long-term...

One counterpoint to the middle-lane thing is that the inside lane in usually in very poor condition because of HGV use. Some drivers literally think the inside is reserved for trucks, too. That's no excusing what I think is the single worst habit of UK drivers, though. Just keep to the left and we'll have fewer accidents AND less congestion. If it's the same diff as the Z4 (which I'm not sure about) then it's the same in terms of operation and software logic as the current M5's.

I had a long chat about it with Ben (who wrote that article) yesterday. It sounds like they've nailed the concept of building a standard replacement for the mk4. The GRNM version is going to be wild, by all accounts. Only thing slightly concerning is lack of passenger space due to design constraints, but I need to sit in it myself to comment about that.

Loving the 'I paid £X so that's what it must be worth' thing. Wouldn't say that's a particularly strong long-term investment. It's making hardly any power, still has the NA engine, and you could build something close for the asking price... IMHO.

Wait until you try the latest Lexus efforts. They're far worse I'd imagine it'll have a system similar to the LC.
