You are a lucky man. What costs you that much? Fabia?

You're looking at a BIK banding of 13%, which is the lowest possible for a diesel car. The exact amount you pay depends on the exact car you choose though. If it was me I'd wait, because I'm a bit of a tart and the Passat CC BlueMotion is coming next year

We managed 78mpg over 600 miles

Tell you what, the most impressive car I've driven MPG-wise this year is the Passat Bluemotion. It's 105ps from the 1.6-litre diesel, but more tellingly I managed 600 miles to half a tank of normal driving. That's simply incredible. In fact, another motoring organisation set a record in the Passat this year. I reckon given the right set of parameters I could have beaten the record in the car I tested.
  5. Happy birthday you massive tit

Whereas our long-term Auris HSD is hitting 41mpg (might be somewhat down to how you drive it though )

Diesel is (for the vast majority of drivers) the cheapest option by a mile. Even the hybrids struggle to compete.
  8. There have been so many ups and downs... I'll let you know when it's over
  9. Yep, Ian's right. They're illegal. They don't have the reflective qualities of the real deal and have to give the retailer information too. I know several people who've been done for it.

    auto or manual

But yours doesn't use the turbo until higher RPM, so you're actually using less fuel in the time his first turbo is working on its own. When yours comes online properly (i.e. not driving through town) you'll see the consumption drop below his figure. Before than you're N/A until your snail spools up. You can't really compare the two.
  11. You do realise Christmas isn't a Christian celebration don't you? I mean, it's been worshipped for years before Jesus had anything to do with it.
  12. I don't see how someone can claim to be Christian and not believe in the bible. I've been wrong before though
  13. I've not met a Christian who doesn't believe in the bible.
  14. Why not? The thing is, we're meant to be living in a predominantly Christian country. For that reason, it's the 'accepted thing' to celebrate the national events. Same as bank holidays and all that. In other countries I've been in I've had to accept - and to a certain extent partake in - the celebrations of holidays in other cultures. It's just what you do
  15. Welcome Interesting job you have there. Any pictures of the stuff you fly? There are a few RC helicopter pilots on here who I think might be a bit jealous
  16. It'll be interesting to hear before and after comments. Can you adjust the blade angle?
  17. Any particular reason for that post?
  18. That is an impossible question to answer without more information. What does the noise sound like and when does it happen? TBH I think you'd be best getting the car to a specialist to get it sorted.
  19. Thread title changed. Some additions: Paul - Whifbitz (London) Dude - AFR (West Sussex) Muffleman - AFR (West Sussex) Keron - extreme performance (leicester) Ryan G - 2bartuning (Oxfordshire but does travel) Rob (Mitchell) - ?? (??) Lee P - SRD (West Sussex) Stonkin - Invisible Touch Detailing (Rusper, West Sussex)
  20. Most insurance policies have small-print stating specifically that you won't be covered if you drive on the Nordschleife. Mine does.
  21. Yes, there are. The premiums are worked out on a risk profile for each individual, so each price will be different for every person. It's a very complicated set of criteria.
  22. Unless you have specialist trackday insurance I can pretty much guarantee your policy will state you aren't covered for the Nurburgring.

    TT Tuning

Drive a stock car, then a BPU car. You'd be surprised how quick 400bhp is in a Supra.
