    Well Toyota saw fit to install it so there must be a requirement for extra cooling in that area in some conditions. I'd suggest you fit it as you're obviously using the car quite hard. No idea on costs, but maybe contacting a breaker who has a UK spec would be a cheap option.

    Josh the snorkel should meet the underside of the bonnet vent, blowing air onto the manifold/turbos as I said before. You haven't taken a picture of where it should be.

    The snorkel is for feeding cold air towards the turbo/manifold on the UK-spec Supra. Not sure if you can retro-fit to a J-spec or not. Josh: your car should have one.
