  1. If you click 'edit post' and then click 'go advanced' you can change your title. I'm not going to do it because it made me smile £10 seems a lot TBH, but it's not a bad thing to do. You probably won't notice a huge difference though unless you do a before and after test on a track/private test road.

I'm on there, but TBH find it quite annoying.
  3. Massively under-rated car based on another massively under-rated car. They are such good value now.
  4. The picture you sent me last Thursday overcame me with joy post it on here.
  5. I've noticed people are a lot more touchy these days. I think it's sad and I feel sorry for them. People seem to have lost their motivation and their sense of humour since the financial crisis started to tighten its grip.
  6. I've got a bit of experience - granted mainly with newer cars - and so when I drove the Corrado I found it distinctly average. The last one I drove was rattly, with a harsh ride and an interior that was falling apart. Sure, the steering was good and it handled well, and the engine was excellent, but for me it was far from the complete package you're making out. The question is a difficult one on such a budget, and I'm not sure there is a car that ticks all of the boxes. Maybe some compromise is required. However, I'd have the Corrado over an FTO every single day of the week. Hateful cars IMHO.
  7. I guess that's your opinion mine is slightly different but it could be that you're more experienced than me on such matters.
  8. It's average at both IMHO I assumed his wasn't a mk1 as he said it was a lot to insure it... surely a mk1 would be on a classic policy? That's what I'd have done.
  9. Fun around the twisties and relaxing on long trips don't generally go hand-in-hand. Surprised you found that with the MX5 though. You're the only person I've ever heard saying they're un-economical. Maybe it was the particular car you had. Something like this? http://pistonheads.com/sales/2793911.htm
  10. Have a search on here. It's all been covered many times before.
  11. If it were me I'd be fitting a bigger stainless radiator, some ducting and an oil cooler. You could easily take your IC off though and see how it looks . A visual inspection should tell you all you need to know - I doubt it's got a hole in it if you're still seeing normal boost. Have you upped the boost from stock at all?
  12. I have £8,500 in the bank but I'd like to buy some safety gear with part of that. I need an up-to-date helmet etc. It's probably an idea to factor in actually using the car too, although I'm aware it's going to be tight on that sort of budget. So far I've been looking at things around the £6k mark...
  13. Chris, would you say Formula Vee is a fairly cost-effective discipline? I know about the air-cooled engines, but it seems like a very cheap way to get into it. I like the Jedis too... this is going to be a hard decision!
  14. Don't forget that no traction control system will stop a car if you simply go too quickly for the conditions. RLTC is great, but physics-bending it ain't
  15. Using the search facility on this site is ALWAYS the best way to go about finding information. There's a surprising amount of information if you take the time to read up.
  16. Good thread though. Hopefully it'll help out other members who aren't familar with the software.
  17. you'd be fine there mate. I will do I'm still undecided whether I want something with downforce or not, but I'm leaning towards Formula Ford-type cars so I can get the most driving development possible from it before adding wings for more cornering speed.
  18. Harder than I expected! Several people failed on the day. I did a bit of reading up and it seems Silverstone has the best instructors, but also requires the highest standards to pass. They're big on safety and don't want people racing dangerously. You really had to be on it to pass the driving part, especially since there were novices on track doing some Nissan event in GT-Rs. Around 95% of qualifying pace was what they were looking for, so make sure you've driven the track you take the test on beforehand. I hadn't, and learning all the points and lines on the day didn't make it any easier. Nor did the rain just after lunch and before the exam The written part wasn't too bad though. Just learn the flags and watch the DVD a few times and common sense will take care of the rest. I did an extended course, which involved drifting some Caterhams for a bit of fun too. Quite a welcome relief as I was pretty damn nervous after we were told that all of us definitely wouldn't pass first time!
  19. Small update - passed my ARDS test yesterday at Silverstone. Now looking into single-seater racing a bit more seriously after talking to a few of the instructors there. Formula Ford appeals.
  20. Nice So come on then, what did your rear bumper twat?
  21. Get a decent food processor with a slicing attachment. Job well and truly done
