Cheers Scooter. indeed. lots of force going to be dished out on it asap!! I was thinking to borrow a beasty compressor and pinch a 3/4" impact gun off a mate. That 'should' do it but I suppose it depends how tight the bolt it!
-
Not a bad thought at all mate but the shell is currently in a different location to the engine so although it is feasable to get the two into the same place at once... I think I am going to have to do it out of the car unfortunately I did think of one possible solution although its a lot of messing about.... make up a box section cage to bolt to the engine mounts and support the engine square on the floor hence giving me a solid platform? I will put that at the bottom of my list though!

Nice idea Ian. Thin I will have a look into that one this avo. Thanks please keep them coming guys if anyone else has any suggestions
-
With that said Im sure some folks have done it with the engine out before....and hopefully they will chime in!

Ouch..600nm Im not so bothered about getting the torque on it as Im a pretty big bloke and i will get a beefy mate or two round to help. The problem I can see is locking the crank to stop it turning while trying to get the bolt off... (and not damaging anything at the same time)

Hmm. Cheers Rob. My engine stand is pretty sturdy but not super strong! I was thinking of using a couple of jack stands under the block with some hardboard on top to stop the stand/engine flexing downward but that doesnt solve the 'twisting' problem that will become apparent when I get my 5 foot scaffold pole on the end of my breaker bar onto the bolt!!

Hi folks, My engine (2jz gte) is out the car and currently on my engine crane prior to putting it on my engine stand for a strip down and rebuild using some saucy parts. (its going in my Mk3 Supra) My question is 1/ Whats the preferred method for getting the 2jz crank pulley off with the engine out of the car (and hence several options of bar locking not being available) Im not too keen on using 2 M8 bolts into the threads in the Damper in case it radges it but if this is the trusted method I will do it!? The engine is out of an auto car and hence has the drive plate for an Auto tranny as opposed to manual flywheel. This doesnt seem to offer as many convenient options for locking as Im used to on past engines (not 2jzs) due to being a lot thinner so Im basically looking for best options to get the bolt off!! Compressor and impact wrench is not a goer presently because my compressor is now a garden ornament due to being knackered! Also, does anyone know of a good source for a suitable locking tool please? to buy or hire? (Im South Yarkshire if theres any kind folks locally!) Additionally, does anyone know the torque value for this bolt off the top of their head? All help appreciated. Thanks

Nice looks mental but fun at the same time!! Looking at the results last years winner was under 2hours by quite a bit?? Does it depend on if you get to the obstacles first then you can be first thru them or something?

Agreed. Was off track slightly. Was merely to highlight that us humans don't know as much about 'stuff' as we think we know and the fact that there is a bigger picture to look at than a supreme being just watching 'us' (mankind on earth being 'us').
-
Who said god is a man? The idea of there being a supreme being (God) is one I used to believe in totally, but the state of the world currently has tested my faith..but I still believe totally. Its like the age old question, is there life on other planets except earth? The answer: There are hundreds of billions of galaxies outside our own solar system (and we can only see 3000 of them so far, using hubble)link...to say there isnt earth like planets on them just like our own (where there is life), would be rather narrow minded IMO

People Avoid these guys like the plague There list of horror stories on various car forums could make a film The fact they also have this wholly illegal text at the bottom of their advert says it all. pay no attention to their feedback basically! Quote from a guy on mk 3 Supra forum Thats who these guys are disguised as another company on ebay. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED GUYS They have never stripped an engine to inspect it in their lives..

wanted 2JZ GTE Mkiv SUPRA engine in good working order
and1c replied to and1c's topic in Parts Wanted
Thanks. Have PMd him but anyone who has a 2JZ GTE lump sitting idle please pm me asap. thanks -
As above guys. I am wanting to purchase a 2JZ GTE engine for an MA70 7MGTE -> 2JZ GTE project I have planned Almost Complete engine wanted however I dont need turbos or exhaust manifold (if you dont have them) and would consider one without inlet manifold. Alternator, starter would be a big bonus as would all other ancilleries that come with a complete long block purchase. Also seeking 2JZ GTE wiring Loom 1 JZ Bellhousing Would possibly consider a 2JZ GTE out of an Aristo though I am primarily seeking a Supra engine due to compatibility reasons. please pm me with details if you can help me out Thanks

Very Interesting. Thanks for the input guys

ok guys. I am seriously looking at purchasing a Supe TT My budget has increased from when I last almost bought a car as I wanted desperately to hold out for a manual. My questions are: What would the enthusiasts out there say is a good ceiling mileage to bear in mind when looking for cars?? As in.....do Supras handle high mileage well?? I saw a manual TT UK car with 160,000 miles for significantly cheaper than any others I have seen and although I would not personally buy a car with that high miles it got me thinking!! My main criteria is a mint car as a good project base that I can bring up to show standard with some cash and time. My second question is: What is a fair price for a late (95 or 96) Supra TT MANUAL with sub 75k ~ (uk car) and lower if its an import? I have seen them ranging from 10k to 14k (14k was single turbo also and looks very nice) My initial budget could go up to £15k tops as I want to put some aside for some significant mods. Its not exactly in Parkers price guide so I would really appreciate an insight into how much these cars should be priced if possible ? cheers

Twin Turbo 97 PLus......Not registerable Thats cleared it up in my mind then :0 cheers. Thats a rip off on the governments part (..another one....yet ...again!!) so buying a 98 car (I think they exist right?) means I would have to store it in the garage for a year and a half till registerable?!! crayzee. Oh well. I think I'm, looking slightly older than that anyway Thanks....will ring you next week for a chat about my import mate.
-
Mmm. Thanks for this info mate Did you mean Can get around this by swapping parts or that there is no way to get around it with a 96 Sept plus car?/ SOrry m8.slightly confused on that point. Also...if that is the case is it "technically" possible to register ANY age of Supra but if newer than 10 years old you have to SVA it which means putting it back to factory stock...making sure its all perfect etc etc?? or have I misunderstood this?!! THANKS AGAIN
-
ok guys. So Im really confused about this and though I may well buy off /through Jurgen I want to understand ALL of the facts about this matter. I have read a number of posts saying that certain cars and years of Supra cannot be registered here now .......and this is only my "understanding of it" due to specifications of that vehicle not being available for SVA inspection and certification? Am I totally wrong about the above information or can someone PLEASE elaborate on what is legal and possible to register over here and pass SVA and what is not??!!! and if not WHY NOT please?? No specs seems a crazy reason for it?? Thanks in advance
