Hi Tony, Pretty sure that was me. Sorry I didnt see you, I was concentrating on the traffic in front as I was running a little late! Was that you in the white one behind me wednesday or thursday evening, also on the A338, just before the hospital turn off, going north? If not it was another white stock looking supe. I didn't know it was until I started to indicate to turn off and they suddently put their foot down. I wondered "that's odd, why stay behind me and then speed up when I pull off' and then I saw it was another supe and I just smiled and admired

I've had the Dunlops all round since I bought the car a year and a half ago. Have replaced all four since and I stuck with the same. I have found them to be fairly hard wearing but I don't think the grip is the best and they seem to quite easily spin in the wet. I have 275/40/18 on the rears which seems quite hard to get in other brands. When I next replace the rears (soon) I think I will look at either the Goodyears or the Toyos as i'm hoping the grip, especially in the wet, will be better...

Hey Tony, Have you got any pics of yours? My mates have seen another white one twice in that area now and think its me. They claim it has the same kit (veilside) but they could well be wrong! James, I saw you last friday stuck in traffic coming up to the roundabout near Tesco at Fleetsbridge (if that's what it's called) around 1pm. I was in my mates corrado but looking very nice!

Wow I haven't heard that name for a long time, not since I used to live in Southampton before my uni days. Had some great nights in The Hobbit (if it's still there!!)

I was waiting in a queue at a junction on friday evening and this kid cycling down the pavement opposite stops and shouts "Hey, is that a Nissan 350 Z?" I said "Sorry??" "Is that a Nissan 350 Z?" I said, "Err no, it's a Toyota Supra" He said "Oh.... looks like one" and cycled off. I laughed!

I haven't seen another one in ages and then 3 in one trip! All before 9am. I think they were all j-spec - I wasn't in the most observant frame of mind being a monday morning! Silver one heading towards Penn Hill Avenue (think that's what it's called!), I don't think you saw me.. Red one going over the bridge towards the Barclays roundabout in Poole - pretty sure you saw me wave! And a Black one but at this moment in time I can't remember where! All looking good! Cheers, Andy

They did a piece on 5th Gear a couple of weeks ago in their Driven To Destruction feature where they drained some old banger completely of oil and drove it round a track to see how long it would last. I think it was less than 5 miles!

I live about half way down Castlemain so yes it will have been me. I'll keep an eye out for you and hope to catch up with you at a meet. There is another white one who lives just down the road near One Stop. Getting quite a few in the area! Cheers, Andy

I have a 96 facelift and my key is also a Toyota one with two buttons which lock/unlock and arm the built-in/standard(?) alarm. If I lock it with the key button and then unlock it with my aftermarket alarm key-fob I get a tone for about 10 seconds if I open the door and if I don't put the key in to the ignition in that time the horn will sound. I have asked in the past about getting a spare key (with buttons) but was told they were available in Japan only.

Extremely possible that it was mine. Are you new to the area? Don't think I have seen a black one around here.

Well after having a squealing when first starting (and on kickdown) since around Christmas my crank pulley came apart on friday. I was on my way to work and put my foot down on a slip road to join a dual carridgeway (50mph limit). Everything seemed fine but then I could hear this strange squeaky squealing noise. To start with I thought it was the old transit next to me but after overtaking him I realised it was coming from me. I then thought it was coming from the heater or aircon so messed with the fan controls but that didnt effect it. Then I realised it changed with how much gas I was giving it. No warning lights had come on but after putting the window down I could hear it was coming from the engine. I took it slowly to the next junction and pulled off. Stopped at the roundabout at the top and tried to turn the wheel to see how the power steering was doing. It was reluctant to move and one of the warning lights flickered so I didnt try to push it. Went slowly around the roundabout and took the third exit to pull over on a quieter road (if there is such a thing in Bournemouth rush hour traffic!). Stopped and turned off. Clutching at hope I left it a few minutes and started it again, same noise. Turned it straight off and had a look under the bonnet. Straight away saw the outer part of the crank pulley laying on its own to the side. The belt was still on and it looked like the tensioner had done its best to take up the slack but it was obviously slipping! Called the AA who sent a flat bed out to take her away. He did have some problems finding something to attach the winch to. Said that I should be careful as because the car is modified some drivers can refuse to attempt to take the car as it isn't straight forward and could need a specialist that I would have to pay for. But he said that he didn't like to be beaten so attached some straps underneath and because there is the upward gap in my veilside front bumper he was able to get it on the truck (with the help of a few block of wood!). So off it went to the garage where they said they should be able to get a new pulley on tuesday. Joy... I had asked the same garage if it was the crank pulley when it was in for its last mot and service in january but they said they didnt think so and thought it was tensioner that was making the noise. Guess they were wrong! Oh well.. I know the pulley is around £200, just hope the labour isn't massively expensive as well. I think I am very lucky because reading past accounts on here it could have been a lot worse! It didnt look like it had done any more damage so I am keeping my fingers crossed..!! If you have a squealing noise, get it checked out!!

Wasn't me! I was thinking of going but the previous night's hangover got the better of me!

Oh yes I remember seeing your pics now, I have a memory like a sieve sometimes. It's going to look fantastic! I was hoping it would be good cos of the nice weather but no idea what to expect. I'll see how it goes and if any mates want to come. I'm not too bothered as I'm a little hungover today!
-
Haha well I do want to see your car in the flesh so we shall see! I've always like the idea of a boost controller, having the power to adjust at your fingertips but I think I would probably leave it on high all the time I must try and make the next meet. Totally off topic, but are you going to Burning Bournemouth tonight? I've never been and was thinking about it but don't know if its the right kind of place for the soop!
-
I've thought about it but once you start it's hard to stop and I can't afford a single at the moment! I'm happy with it how it is really. Also like the idea that it should hopefully be less likely for anything to go wrong - touch wood! It's my daily driver so I need reliability, not saying that BPU isn't but I don't want to risk anything. One day...!
-
Haha yup a good way to know they sound good, but no, I still have both cats! I have been thinking to myself its been sounding a bit louder/beefier recently. I put it down to having the windows open due to the nice weather. Maybe I should check it for holes!

Someone likes yellow! erm..?!
-
Ah yes a bit far from home! Its an HKS Super Dragger. I have an auto so it only really makes noise when you are giving it some. Does seem to sound nice though, quiet(ish!) when you want it, loud when you want some fun. I need to get someone else to drive it so I can hear what it sounds like from outside! I thought yours sounded good so I was trying to accelerate as much as poss in the traffic so you could hear

Hey Chris, I was in the white one. Haven't seen you around here before. Love the car. I went on to see 3 more Soops on my way home! I was quite shocked. A purpley-blue on Landsdowne roundabout, a sliver one heading in to town and another silver one, aerotop, on the outskirts of Boscombe (I think thats the area). Haven't one for ages, then 4 in a 30 minute trip!

Heater/Climate controls: same on pre and post facelift?
SoundWave replied to SoundWave's topic in Supra Chat
I bought the controls I saw on eBay. Came very well packaged. Looked a bit more yellowy than mine - must have been a smokers car. Anyway, plugged them in and it did the same - nothing! Thought it must be something else as the chances of having two dead units would be very unlucky. Checked a bunch of fuses and they were all fine. So decided to take the head unit out again so see if I could find the ECU box for the heater. What did I find? One of the plugs had come off the ECU! Doh! Plugged it back in and the controls work fine! In fact they are working better than they ever had as they used to be a bit iffy, so it must have been loose for a while. So if anyone needs replacement controls I will be selling it on again. I now know it is fully working! -
My girlfriend saw that red one. She asked the bloke if he was a member but he said he wasn't.
-
Many thanks! At the moment the heater just releases hot air while moving. Not too bad in this weather but when on the motorway and you don't want to open the windows because of all the wind noise it can get quite hot!

Ok thanks. I forgot to do a search *ahem* Will just check...! -
I have seen this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120101351260 but I don't know if a pre or a post facelift can mix and match or not. Also, i have no idea if that is a good price! Cheers for the offer!
