Goodwood Festival of Speed - Fri 24th to Sun 26th June 2005
springbok replied to SupraStar 3000's topic in National Events
Well I booked this morning and I will be there on Friday!! -
Makes loads of sense now.!! There I was just assuming they were sequentials. Thanks for that, back to the drawing board,, bummer,,!!
-
Terry, I was interested to read what you say about twins/singles etc. I am surprised you say the singles spin up faster approx 800/1000 rpm sooner. I always thought if you want to build a fast "road car" then twins are the answer. If you want big BHP and top speed then go single and wait for it to all crank up!! I thought twins would give you a better torque curve. Hence smoother, and generally more on tap all round at any speed range unless you were really moving at which point the singles would be in their sweet spot. Alan

Well I think it is a great spread on the car, the club and everybody in it. I don't remember seeing so many pages devoted to the Supra in a mag ever. It was very good business for Terry & Matt etc. How much would that have cost Vortex to put an add in the magazine like that!!?? I also liked the piece on the DVD sold with it about Top Secret etc..in Japan. and a few other bits... Its just a shame there was not much on Supras in the DVD. Leon's car looked good at Santa Pod though!! Really smoking those wheels leon!! Alan
-
So you have been receiving the Vortex treatment have you??? I bet you got home in record time!! Alan At least you can rest knowing whatever Matt does to your car will be the business..

Going clockwise, Was it you yesterday. Your car was looking great!!!

I go to this event every year for the last 3 years it is always fantastic!! Better than going to a GP meet. You get up close to current/past F1 drivers and their cars. I could go on but I wont... I will always be there. -
Thanks for that, I have just taken a copy i am sure they will be very useful Alan
-
I know christians car did a 4.4 to 60 8.9 to 100 and 12.4 I was impressed.!! But it will be good to see all the times together to check. I was a great day. One of the best for me.
-
I'll be there but not to race.. Sounds like a great day!! Matt you still comimg??
-
Best of the bunch in my view once you can look at it with a clear head and get over the early days of not being familiar with it all. Most Pro drivers seem to go for F1 style boxes, I think one day you probably won't be able to buy any manuals at all. All makes are pushing tip tron/paddle shift boxes at you even if the journalists moan about it.
-
I think Matt should get the vote. Not only does he have a very nice car but he is a first class Ambassador for the club. Leon's car is good I agree but it is well known and I am not sure if it is in full working order. Often it is not. Let Matt have a go I say!!! All votes for Matts Yellow Motor here please////:p :p Matt post some pics mate!! you know she looks good.
-
Nick, Those look ace mate I'll have to come and see them now i'm back. Did you get CW to do the work. Or did you do it yourself. Alan
-
Yer !!! I like the cars Matt, but you have got to tell your mate to get TVR to learn how to glue them together properly. As long as TVR's are built the way they are. They will never sell in bigger numbers. Its a shame , because if they got it right Astons would go belly up overnight. Ford is almost broke anyhow!!!?? :D
-
So I guess the bottom line is if you move from 17" wheels to 18" they are pretty much going to weigh more...??? So its looks -v- pace..!!! ?
-
Well I definiately will not make a load of money, because I just know I'll be spending it!!!... BUT !!! BIG BUT!! !! ?? "guaranteed to get laid " well thats a very interesting roundabout suggestion  lets say I have inside information..???? And there are many sides to this..!!
-
Faye, How can you get lost, you only live ten minutes away!!! Unfortunately I will not be able to make it. I have a meet up in Leicester Sq to go to.... which I just can't say no to...

Yes, I'll be there again this year for another fantastic day. Its the only time you get a real chance in the UK to get really close to a current F1 car and meet the drivers firsthand. Naturally to all Supra lovers it will be no surprise to know that its a Toyota which holds the current hill climb record and most of you who would like to buy that rear wing for your Supra will know the following driver. "Rod Millen, the Kiwi hillclimbing legend, will return to Goodwood to defend his ‘Fastest Time of the Day’ title set on his debut last year, this time driving a 900bhp Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck that he promises will be ‘even faster’ than his Toyota Celica Turbo." I'll be there but not in the Supra this year Maybe a brand new Audi S4 4.2 V8 thanks to Audi for the loan vehicle. If you meet this car on the road make sure your Supra is not standard.. Otherwise your in trouble. :flame Dev Who's coming.??
