Due to issues sorting postage (sorry Scott), BUMP!! Strictly pickup only as it seems most couriers don't like handling liquids?? Can pickup either from Swindona area or, if it helps, Witney area. Thanks. -

Bump! -
Hi, I have 5 litres of Silkolene Pro S 10w50 and 5 litres of pre-mixed Toyota Red Long Life Coolant, both still sealed. £50 for both, pick up only. Thanks, Paul

I know, that's the problem - I just can't justify it while the Prelude is still going strong, especially having bought the toy earlier in year which really did stretch me to my limit. And I'd get peanuts for the Prelude - it's worth so much more to me having been so UTTERLY reliable in the last 3 years. If I have a mad moment (or if the missus allows/encourages me - just shown her and she said "that's nice" in a somewhat resigned tone of voice) I will be in touch if it's still around. Some else, buy it quick before I give in - so much fun for so little money!
-
Hmmmmm...looking at one of these as my next daily drive as they're sub 2k, fun, and reliable as you like as long as you maintain them. I was thinking about the 1.8iS, but I really like the look of this. Trouble is, I promised myself I'd run my Prelude until it dies and it's not showing any signs of doing that at the moment - bloody Honda reliability! Is there much diff in insurance prices between the UK and J-specs?
-
Had a brief blat with you on the road from Clanfield (where you seemed a bit lost?) to Bampton before you turned off to Black Bourton. I was in my Marmite M Coupe! Lovely looking Supra
-
You're right - I don't believe you. Where did you get that info from? While I agree that many manufacturers share parts and engines (recently discovered that our Fiesta TDCi engine is shared with the Peugeots), I was under the impression that the 1.9 TDi engine has been a VAG unit through and through for years now and was one of the first of the common rail units to show just what can be done in terms of performance with a production diesel. Sorry, after the Prelude thing last night, it must seem that I'm deliberately targeting you but, without some sort of official info, I think you're wrong!

Personally I like films with Orcs and Elves in...or those with Sam Jackson and John Travolta as hitmen

I meant Ian's comments regarding the reliability if the B18 (albeit incorrectly in response to your comments about Preludes going bang) SHOULD apply to the Prelude VTECs also... Afaik ALL the VTECs (I've owned 3 different variants with no issues whatsoever) should be as reliable as pretty much anything else on the road if they haven't been (a) abused, (b) not serviced properly or © both!
-
I still think Ian's comments apply...the Prelude 2.2 VTEC is as reliable as all the other VTEC units if serviced. Had my UK BB1 as a daily driver for 3 years now (longest I have ever owned a car) and the worst fault has been windscreen washer motor failure or a warped front brake disk! Best all rounder, including lack of hassle and running costs not just out and out performance, I've ever owned (Corrado VR6 included!) and, IF I could find another reasonable mileage and UNMOLESTED 4th gen, I'd buy another as a cheap and cheerful daily driver in a heartbeat. If not, I'll probably end up with a DC2 ITR which is no bad thing!

N*** HTE I think it was, just heading into Bampton as I was heading out in my new M Coupe. Looked nice - gunmetal always was my favourite colour

Unused/unopened, no longer required as I've sold up: 5 litres of Silkolene Pro S 10w50 5 litres of premixed Toyota Red4life coolant 500ml of Motul 5.1 brake fluid £50 the lot, pickup only from Swindon or Witney due to weight and general lethargy on my part! Thanks, Paul

Hear hear - couldn't agree more. E30 M3 UR Quattro Delta Integrale 964 911 etc etc All now cost well in excess of 10k for good low mileage examples, and all are far less powerful than Supras/Aristos with good setups. Doesn't make them any less admirable or desirable in my book. For the LC to be the fastest production saloon for the 10 years following its release surely commands the respect of any petrolhead?? And back on the subject of outright power/speed, despite being a huge fan of the E39 M5 (I very nearly bought one 2 weeks ago), I'd still bet that the LC would give it a damn good run for its money - just check the power and torque to weight ratios.
-
But it is a Vauxhall or a Lotus?? Consider also that the Lotus Cortinas also go for 30k plus in good shape...that's quite steep for a Ford
-
A fair bit more than 10k for a good one...15k-20k still from what I've seen over the last few years Awesome cars though

Funny you mention the 6s, I missed out on an old 80s M6 - gutted, as it had only 66k on the clock, FBMWSH and the only other wording on the ad was "immaculate, I repeat immaculate" which I thought was a brilliantly confident, short but to the point ad. This is my first BMW - always had the Jap stuff previously. Haydn - 0-60 seems to be 5 to 5.5 depending on source material so yes, comparable. Didn't feel as brutal as my Supra, but different power delivery of course. Yet to suss the gear changes too, so I think my own runs will be somewhat short of those times!
-
Sorry, make that 2 then - thanks!! Despite the recent price drops, it certainly wasn't CHEAP and admittedly I could have bought a nice TT6 for the same money but, as I've had 3 Supras now, a change is as good as a rest! Styling still attracts attention too - though clearly not all for the right reasons as the mixed responses on here amply demonstrate!!
-
Well, ONE other person with taste Yeah, me too - since they came out years ago. Loved the fact that such a mainstream manufacturer balked tradition and built something so unsual. Prices are now achievable so had to give them a go. Not as brutal feeling, acceleration wise, as the Supra, and certainly more compliant than mine around our roads. On paper though, a match for any standard TT. Nice steering feel and rapid progress can be made quite easily. No driver aids except ABS though, so can be a handful apparently - yet to experience that of course, as I've only been on test drives so far.
-
Stuck a deposit down this afternoon and will be picking up as soon as I can get to the bank for the balance! Isn't she curiously sexy...despite being ever so slightly ugly??!
-
Hi mate, Yes, the old girl has been well looked after...had a full service just last week and is off to Toyota GT in a couple of weeks for some OEM Bilsteins and UK springs to "improve" (matter of opinion of course) the setup for UK roads. HOWEVER, seriously thinking of selling up - for no other reason than I crave the involvement of a manual! So currently looking at the Z3 M Coupe or E39 M5 as my next potential purchase. Or a TT6 of course...had in fact looked at Dat-Inters' ad, before deciding it was far too far to even consider! Whilst on the subject, sorry to read that your new one has a few issues to iron out - hope you get them sorted. If you need a runaround in the mean time, you know where to come!
