I still think I might try uk turbos at +1.3bar with good cold air induction and a monster intercooler, I think keeping the charge air temp would be key to pushing them to the limits of their efficiency. It's probably the cheapest thing to try next and I'm a bit of a tight arse! Anyone gone single and got a set of UK turbo's c/w manifold, Ypipe, Decat etc they want to sell?   4. Didnt buy the UK spec Turbos in the end as the guy selling said he had the exhaust parts but didn't ( pants on fire ?) He's put them up again along with some J-spec ones and other bits. Thanks for that chaps So it looks like I need the exhaust pipe work either side of the turbos i.e the manifold and the Y pipe with the exhaust control valve (to accomodate the larger 1st turbo waste gate i suppose). I'm not sure about the actuators I would imagine they are common. I already have a new miami gt SMIC ready to fit, I'll see how that works - most Americans have warmer weather than us. Steve
  7. Does that mean that the exhaust pipework out of the turbos with the exhaust control valve is different? If I can get 450 bhp at the crank I'll be well chuffed
  8. Just bought some UK turbos what do I need to fit them on my J-spec. Is it just the uk exhaust manifold or do I need loads of plumbing ? Anyone done this? The ceramic turbos have been ok at 1.2bar but I want to push it a bit further. I already have the cats out, a walbro pump and a boost controller ( not really needed as the waste gate on the first turbo can't keep it below 1.2bar) . I'm going to fit 550cc injectors and an e-manage blue to tweak the fueling. How far can I go with UK turbos will they do 1.35bar or do they run out of puff at 1.3 what BHP can I hope to get ? I did think about going single but a big laggy turbo in an auto car not so sure! Thanking you in anticipation Steve

  13. Yes the IC pipe had popped off, that will teach me not to be a smartarse and take a good look before comming to a conclusion. The charge air is metered on the pressurised side of the turbos hence fueling remains correct! I imagine the risk is overspooling the unloaded turbo if you dont take it very easy. Any way 10 minutes work put it back to rights, thanks for the advice. Steve
  14. Yes I though that but discounted it as the car runs ok apart from the lack of boost. If an IC pipe was off the air metering would be screwed and the engine would stall? I probably did not hear the sound of the failure too well as I was just making the jump to light speed and laughing at the merc - I'm laughing on the other side of my face now:imsorry:
  15. 93 Jap spec dual decat running 1.2 bar I was just showing an AMG Merc how slooooww he was (w.o.t. 18 psi boost) when there was a slight pop from my car and no more boost. So looks like No1 Turbo has gone tits up! Any one got a reasonable pair in the shed ? good low mileage Jap spec or UK spec with manifold and 1st decat pipe (is that all you need to fit?) Or that gorgeous pair of Hybrids you always meant to fit before you went single Steve
  16. Jap spec dual decat running 1.2 bar I was just showing an AMG Merc how slooooww he was (w.o.t. 18 psi boost) when there was a slight pop from my car and no more boost. The engine runs ok up to 4k rpm but not making any boost, when the vsv's open to spin the 2nd turbo it sounds wheezy and still makes no boost. I imagine the exhaust side blades have disintegrated on turbo 1 turning it into a big open waste gate for turbo 2 above 4k rpm. Anything else that could cause this ? And can I drive to garage in NA mode without buggering anything apart from my self esteem as I'm overtaken by Saxo's Metro's etc ? Steve

  19. what about these guys ? http://www.vacuumformers.co.uk they look ideal and say they do small runs, the downside is their location but there must be a few clewed up members up in Cheshire who might check out results It would be a shame if such a good idea came to nothing a bit like not getting asked back in for cofee Steve

  23. Does it hit the speed limiter at an indicated 120 leptons? if so you have a crappy kmh > mph convertor, this will cause the OD light to flash, a regular flashing which looks like some sort of error indication rather than a loose connection. I've had the same problem.
