  1. It's great, been there before but it's always mega expensive for a full day. Yesterday was an evening session. Open pit lane for 2.5 hours, and only 135quid. Not too many cars out there either - you could have stayed out the whole time. The track is brilliant apart from the last couple of corners which are v. boring and understeery. I took some in car video, I'll post it up later. Especially the bit where a Boxter spun off into the gravel right in front, and then I caught and passed 2 Radicals! Guess it must have been "have a go in a Radical" day, shouldn't have got anywhere near them!
  2. Cheers fellas! Actually I was on a trackday yesterday Terry, LOL! Silverstone GP circuit, fun! 31 for me now, it's all downhill now...
  3. It's not actually the flywheel that rattles on a manual, it's the gearbox. It's just caused by aftermarket lightweight flywheels not having the damping that the standard one does. So no, an auto won't...
  4. And then give him a manual and see him knock a second or more off the lap time...
  5. Happy birthday Gerry! I think you should buy yourself some nice shiny dials as a pressie to yourself...
  6. Who, me? I'm gonna have to get a shiny extinguisher now, mine's too boring and red...
  7. That is for removing the disc if it gets seized - you screw a bolt into it and it frees the disc. It should not be used to hold the disc - they are held on by the wheel nuts as others have said.
  8. It's all very well saying that X has Y% more pad area than standard etc, but the standard brakes are still easily capable of locking the wheels, and you can't slow down any faster than that. The other advantage to bigger brakes is that they will radiate heat away faster, so they won't get so hot and therefore fade. You'd be doing pretty well to get standard UK brakes with decent pads and/or discs to the point of fading, even on a track day though IMHO.
  9. If WSB2 is organising it I'll clear a spot in the diary for September next year! 1. WSB2 2. Ivan (Ken) (away for the 2 middle weeks of Sept) 3. SimonB
  10. It's one of the wires in the main loom. White is the airflow input #1 that you will have wired into the input from the MAP sensor. Yellow is the 2nd airflow input. I don't think you'll find anything cheaper than an AEM - that's the cheapest I've seen. You can get a version that doesn't come with a gauge which is cheaper though, but if you have an E01 or don't fancy using a lookup table to get from voltage to AFR you'll want the one with the gauge as it has a linear output.
  11. You can log AFR, but it's not all that straighforward. What you do is wire your AFR into the 2nd airflow input on the Emanage that is normally used for Skylines etc that have two airflow meters. Normally the support tool won't let you log the 2nd input. You can either trick the support tool into allowing it to be logged, or use a third party bit of software to do the logging. Tricking the support tool involves hacking the map file which is a bit dodgy and then you have to convert the support tool logfiles into CSV that you can import into Excel. The easier thing to do is to use a utility called "emm" which you can find on the Yahoo group under files. That logs all Emanage inputs and parameters to a CSV file which you can then import into Excel. Then all you have to do is use Excel to convert the voltage from the AFR sensor into an AFR via a lookup table. Then you can draw graphs or whatever you want. You will also have to convert the throttle position voltage and boost sensor voltage into their correct values, which is just a simple formula.
  12. Really? Great tip, thanks! I'll have a look at that tomorrow, might just get away without having to get some new ones in that case!
  13. Just had exactly the same thing happen to me. What a crap design! The rear ones have a plate attached so you can use that rather than an allen key, so why not the fronts! Gah... Oh well, I'll be on the phone to Mr T tomorrow for some more drop links then...
  14. Look at the first letter of the model code on the VIN plate under the bonnet (e.g. E-JZA80-ALFQZ). E means Japanese market. Can't remember if the model code is on the V5, I don't think so though.
  15. Here you go, direct link to the manuals.
  16. It's from http://www.mkiv.com, look under tech articles and manual resources for chunks of the repair manual and the complete electrical one.
  17. Let me guess, Japanese Performance mag right? Who for some reason asked Fensport who know next to nothing about Supras. The reason most people don't run more than 1.2BAR is not actually to do with breaking turbos, but the fact that you don't have sufficient fueling for any more than that, which will cause very high exhaust gas temps at the very least, which will in turn give your turbos a lot more grief. Plus the turbos are out of their efficiency range at 1.2BAR anyway. If you have correct fueling and intercooling etc you can run more than 1.2BAR. I run 1.3, despite being out of their efficiency window you do still get more power than at 1.2. Other errors in that Jap performance quote are that the Jspec has 280bhp (it doesn't, more like 310-320ish), that you should decat with a HKS downpipe (which will cause overboosting for sure on a jspec) and that you need a boost controller (you don't if you remove the cats boost will rise anyway). Oh, and that if you want to get 340bhp you need hybrid turbos and a fuel pump (but strangely no mention of anything to provide extra fueling!). Not true, a simple decat will get you there no problem at all.
  18. When it's switched off it's switched off, so unlikely to be anything to do with RLTC unless it's gone completely bonkers and isn't switching off. Have you still got the stock TC?
  19. I think I'm right in saying that having longer or shorter links won't make any difference to the suspension, because the anti-roll bar is there to resist torsion - i.e. twisting caused by the suspension on one side being compressed while the other side isn't. It rotates freely if both sides are moved up or down, so having slightly longer links will just mean it's rotated up a bit more than before at rest if you see what I mean. Dunno why they've made them longer though.
  20. Total and utter BS! Sometimes Toyota do make me wonder when they come out with things like this.

Seeya peeps, keep up the BS!

Yeah, I'm signing off now. I'm gonna try and make it for the SEM on Tuesday. It's quite a long way on a school night, but hey, it's only right since Sheena is making an appearance.

Bored of that now, she doesn't appear to be getting any more of her kit off.
