RPS lightweight flywheel & South Bend pressure plate
SimonB replied to SimonB's topic in Parts for Sale
Pressure plate is sold, but the flywheel is still up for grabs! I'll take £150... -
The discs are a different size, so no go.
-
Let's just hope they don't forget to fill it up with petrol like they did at Le Mans...

Yes, another one of those "get rid of all the stuff floating around in the garage" threads... Most of this is just odd bits that someone may find useful. So here goes: Stock BOV and pipes. Stock 6sp shifter. Stock Jspec fuel pump. Stock fuel pressure regulator - you'd need a new rubber O ring though. Mocal remote oil filter mount, side entry 1/2" BSP thread. 4 x 1/2BSP to -10JIC male - male unions. (2 of these would go with the above) -10JIC male-female oil pressure adaptor with 1/8NPT female port 1/8NPT to 1/8BSP male-male union 1/8BSP female-female adaptor Stock facelift front & rear wheelarch trim. This is the plastic trim that goes at the rear of the front wheelarch and front of the rear arch that you take off when fitting sideskirts. plastic radiator ducting facelift traction control switch panel stock front and rear anti-roll bars. If anyone wants any of this PM me an offer

I have a used RPS Cyn-R-G lightweight flywheel for sale. These are easily the best lightweight flywheels around, they are beautifully engineered. Blurb from RPS. It's had about 18 months and 15000 miles of use and is in very good condition, see photo: http://www.simonb.org/images/flywheel.jpg They're about £370 new I believe, so let's say £170. Pressure plate SOLD.

Actually, I've just had a thought. A while ago I managed to break my E01 display unit so I had to order another one. I ended up buying a new E01. It's not the Profec with the boost control, just the Emanage control one, as it was cheaper and they are exactly the same apart from the SD card. So I've got an SD card for the E01 spare. It's not the boost control one, so you'd lose those features, but it should let you have a look at the Emanage settings at least. I can post it out to you Monday if you want, might help you get mobile at least.

Don't know what your setup is regarding injector size or whatever, but if you can get along with just the standard ECU (i.e. you've still got normal injectors/fuel pressure etc) then you can unhook the Emanage and bypass it. That'd let you use the car at least. Is the activity light on the Emanage normal? I managed to get mine in a state where it flashed green-yellow-red by downloading the Emanage firmware from the E01. Had to redownload it from the support tool. Otherwise I think you're going to have to borrow a laptop lead from someone. If you get stuck you can borrow mine for a couple of days or something.

You can't just reformat the SD card, it contains the software for the E01 as well as storing your settings. Also it's not a standard PC format. You used to be able to download the SD card contents and a utility to write it from the Emanage yahoo group. IIRC it was for Linux only though. Can't remember. It shouldn't make any difference to the running of the car though. Unless you've got an Emanage as well and it's screwed up your map somehow.

Errr, like the club shirts that Rosie has been doing for ages then?

Got my car back now, bit of a difference from my Hyundai Getz diesel hire car! Very strange driving it again, especially as the clutch is now a fair bit heavier than my old one. Think I'll have to go into weight training or I'll end up walking in circles. Anyway, this is what happened to my old clutch disc. It's cracked at what looks like a weak point where the springs are. Possibly metal fatigue?
-
You'll be fine as long as you don't rev the engine in the car park and attract the attention of the noise tester or anything. They don't check each car as it goes through the barrier or anything.
-
The rattle will be because you have a lightweight flywheel, which is not damped like the standard one. That causes the gearbox to rattle, especially when hot. There's not much you can do apart from put up with it.
-
I got this today too. Trying to work out if it's a hoax like the one about the cameras on the M27 etc. I know they do have at least one black Skoda Octavia as an unmarked car, but whether the rest is true I kind of doubt.
-
Depends. Do you have an oil temp gauge? Do you ever take it on a track?

An update for anyone interested . The car's been recovered back to my usual garage Triton. Would definitely recommend the recovery guy for anyone local that ever needs one, very good and very cheap too. I'll post his details up when I've got them to hand. Anyway, they've dropped the gearbox and found the problem. I have a South Bend kevlar sprung hub clutch disc, and one of the springs has detatched from the disc. The flywheel and clutch plate are both fine, and there is plenty of wear left. So I could have got away with just replacing the disc. I ended up ordering a new stock flywheel from Toyota and bought a RPS max street clutch from D3xt3r, so that's going in and I'll soon have a RPS flightweight flywheel and South Bend pressure plate for sale...

Well it's not exactly competition for F1 just yet if it's at Brands! They've only got a couple of bits of scaffolding pretending to be grandstands. Hardly on the same scale. Shame it's on Sky sports otherwise I'd watch it. Who won then?

There is a yellow grommit each side up in the inner wing area. If you look under the bonnet there's a hole in the inner wing each side near the firewall with a plastic bit of trim round. If you peer in there you'll see the grommit - it comes out high up under the dash (easier to see on the drivers side).

Oh that's better then. You want to check out the Goodwood revival meeting on bbc 2 now. Can't get more retro than that. Some of the in-car footage just now was really cool too.
-
One of the cars was at Goodwood this year and I thought it was probably the ugliest looking single seater I've ever seen! It looked bizarre. The concept looks good though, but what's up with a rolling start? How dull...

Unfortunately not, it's part of the consumer credit act, which only applies to credit. VISA might have some kind of voluntary arrangement though, worth asking the bank I guess.

Got mine from GT Graphix. They don't have them on the web site, but they make stick on plates the same as their normal ones. That means you can have the website URL on the bottom like me! (cool, new smilies!)
-
Errr, that will be the link I posted in the first post then! I know that it's buggered if it turns MORE than the stated amount, but mine seems to turn about half that distance (although it's very hard to do off the car).
-
Since I'm going to replace my RPS flywheel with a standard one I thought I'd see what state my original one that was taken out to fit the RPS was like. The good book says you should turn it both ways and the difference should be 105mm, any more and it's scrap. This is pretty difficult to do without it being bolted to the engine, but I had a go and mine moves a lot less than 105mm. So does that mean mine is no good or not? It looks OK visually. Obviously it would need refacing.

Group hug... Now, who's going to give me a free uprated clutch?

Quick update, managed to find a very helpful recovery truck bloke recommended by Triton who is recovering it back there on Monday for the not very princely sum of £33. Bargain! No problem with the clearance, he says he's done a few very low cars and has extra ramps etc (it's a low loading flat-bed jobbie). Bargain! If I'd known that's all it was gonna cost I'd have recovered it straight there in the first place! I know 12 hours is taking the piss, it only took Triton 3 or 4 to change the flywheel and clutch when it was fitted! That's what I told Mr T too! It was Westover Toyota, in Wallisdown. At least it's a handy place to leave the car while waiting for it to get recovered! They've got it locked inside too, I went and had a look earlier. I've actually got a stock flywheel that I took off when the RPS one was fitted - it had 40000 odd miles on it so I'll have a look and see what state it's in. I'd need to find somewhere to have it refaced though so I might just end up ordering a new one.
