  1. Ewww, that's horrible. Looks like it's got a double chin.
  2. You're telling me! Last time I spoke to them they insisted my car didn't exist and the only model of Supra was a "Supra Turbo". When I told them there was no such thing and they were all RZ, GZ etc they just told me they couldn't insure anything but a Supra Turbo...
  3. They probably think you have a MkIII, that's the usual thing with Elephant, they end up listing it as a Supra Turbo or FI or something. Fine until you need to claim!
  4. You already have a device that protects the ECU from surges. It's called a fuse. A capacitor won't do that.
  5. Actually they've done my clutch twice, LOL! They installed it and my LW flywheel in the first place and then replaced it with another one when it broke! They're good lads.

    stock bov

If not, I've got one too...
  7. Finally time to renew my insurance (I just missed the start of the club scheme last time) and I'm switching to Sky. My quote was £650 rather than £665 from A Plan, and that's for agreed value and like-for-like on mods which A Plan don't do. That's for 15k agreed value, Jspec RZ with exhaust, decat, FMIC, front bumper, Lexus wheels, Emanage, Boost controller, fuel pressure reg etc etc.
  8. It's utter bollocks I'm afraid. They're talking about a few millivolts difference!

    No Power

I remember when mine popped off, scared the shit out of me for a few horrible seconds while you think you've blown something up!

    No Power

It will be one of the intercooler hoses that has popped off.. Probably the one inside the wing on the drivers side.
  11. It wasn't the drivers, it was the station staff. That's why it didn't make all that much difference.
  12. Actually neither has an oil cooler at all (unless you count the little water cooled bit where the filter attaches). UKs had a diff cooler though where Jspecs don't. UKs have a MAF (airflow) sensor in the intake whereas Jspecs have a MAP (pressure) sensor. Apart from later VVTi Jspecs which have both. Big brakes were optional on Jspecs apart from the facelift RZ where they were standard. UKs have the EGR exhaust gas recirculation system for emissions. Oh, and the trac system on UKs is plumbed into the brakes as well whereas the Jspec just uses the throttle. Think that's about it!
  13. Well there you go, I stand corrected!
  14. Micheldever don't deliver. Worth ringing around though, the place I got mine is just a local tyre place here in Christchurch, and they were only 6 quid more than Micheldever.
  15. I would go for F1s, but that's not a great price. I just paid £144 each for mine in that size, and that was from the local tyre place, not the absolute cheapest (usually Micheldever).
  16. 2nd set, third one is Mastermind. 2nd from the right on the 2nd row is Big Track. The 1st set 1st pic is one of thise stereo view jobbies but I dunno what they're called.
  17. Think that wins worst use of English ever award. Maybe the punctuation keys were broken on his keyboard?
  18. It doesn't from the point of view of the light. Time is relative, so at the speed of light it would appear to take you no time at all to get anywhere - time for you is infinitely slowed down. From everyone elses point of view it would take you however long it takes to get there at 186000 miles per second.
  19. It's also impossible. You cannot know precisely everything about a particle. For example you cannot know its position and momentum at the same time. The more certain you are of one the less certain you can be of the other. The Heisenburg uncertainty principle states that, part of Quantum theory. This thread has turned into Physics 101! Lol!
  20. It's the kick-down switch so the autobox changes down when you floor the throttle.

    Which BOV is this?

That's not right. The wastegate acts to dump excess exhaust gas when boost pressure reaches a certain level. It dumps it to either the exhaust after the turbo, or to atmosphere through a screamer pipe (which is just the name for the pipe taking the dumped exhaust gas out to atmosphere). Because some of the gas is diverted it stops the turbo producing more and more boost and holds it at the correct level. When you back off the throttle the BOV releases the excess pressure. It triggers because of the pressure difference between the intake manifold after the throttle (which will be in vacuum because you've just closed the throttle) and before the throttle (which will be positive because the turbo is still spinning and producing boost). If your BOV cannot flow enough air fast enough, or doesn't open fast enough you can get compressor surge. This is where you have too little air flowing through the turbo for the boost pressure. Bigger turbos suffer surge at higher air flows, so are more likely to suffer from this which is why you get it more with singles. That's how I understand it anyway.
  22. I'm sure you would need them for MOT. Sidelights are supposed to be parking lights. You must use them when parked on a road with a speed limit of more that 30 at night in theory.
  23. Only your own details are disclosable under the data protection act. You can't request details on someone else AFAIK.
  24. The Supra is already a stiff car. I doubt you will notice any difference, I didn't, and I do the odd track day. Looks cool though...
