    oil cooler

For long runs on the motorway no, for track days yes.
  2. Back in the dim and distant past when I was at Uni my insurance company had a thing where you could declare it was off-road and they would insure it for theft/damage only. The premium went down to 1/4 while it was like this. I used to do that every term and then reactivate it during the hols. Mind you, it was a 1L Metro City... Can't remember which company it was but it might be worth phoning some and asking them if they do something similar.
  3. Yeah, getting the stock ones off can be a pain. Once you've done that you're home and dry. There are various techniques, some people take them both off in one go. I took the front one off first - takes a bit longer but is easier I reckon. Best advice I have is make sure you have the right tools before you start. You're going to want a nice big breaker bar, and a good set of wobble bar extensions (Machine Mart do a great set pretty cheap), good set of sockets and do yourself a favour and get some of the ratchet spanners from Halfords. Can't remember the sizes you'll need now, but IIRC it's 10mm, 12mm, 13mm and 14mm. Oh, and get a set of torx spanners too, for undoing studs. Then just take your time.
  4. Uh oh, look out it's a wsb meet! 1. WSB2 (cant do 2/3 sept) 2. lockys96 (any, lol) 3. SimonB (can't do 2nd or 9th/10th or 16th)
  5. The rears are 324mm diameter, not sure what the stock thickness is, but my DBAs are 16mm thick and I doubt it's different. Total height of the whole thing is 67.5mm
  6. I have some - get the ones with the spoiler. The standard wipers are pretty much useless over 80mph, they don't touch the screen. The spoiler holds them against the windscreen, they are much much better. I could take or leave the rain off thing.
  7. Exactly. At the same pressure and temperature the same amount of air flows, no matter the size of your turbo. The engine has certain air requirements, to get more than that in you have to pressurise it. It's just that a bigger turbo will generally be more efficient at higher flow rates and therefore produce less heat. Less heat = more air in the same volume = more flow.
  8. Here's my one of the JAE photo shoot. The original is 8mp.
  9. I took one from the same place at the same time, I'll look it out when I get home tonight...

    how stupid am i

I think Halfords sell one that fits.
  11. Excellent stuff Rosie! There's light at the end of the tunnel, and it's not even the oncoming train...
  12. I work for NATS. I'm a software engineer - we write the software for the simulator they use for training at the college, so I'm based there at Hurn. I'm responsible for the speech recognition system that lets the trainees practise controlling. Don't really have too much to do with the training guys though. I know there are certain things they look for, situational awareness, that sort of thing. They want people that don't focus in on one detail but can see the whole picture. Judging by the controllers I work with it also helps if you have no imagination, are very resistant to change and complain about everything... There is still a shortage of controllers, and they have restructured the courses so the latest one had a lot more people starting.
  13. That's ok mate, didn't want to get in your way, you were looking pretty busy! Shame the Zytec car didn't have a bit more luck at Le Mans.
  14. Probably the same reason I did - it makes your gearbox sound like a bag of nails, and eventually you get annoying with having to tell people "yes, it's supposed to sound like that", "no, it's not broken"...
  15. Saw it at the Festival of Speed this year, it's an impressive bit of kit. Hope it goes well for you Dave.
  16. Got me plenty of female attention though didn't it? Mind you they were all drunk.
  17. Oi, cheeky git! You think that's sad you should see me at work...
  18. On UNIX (and many other systems) the date/time is a number which is the number of seconds since 01-01-1970 00:00:00. So that date is basically a zero or uninitialised date. Wow, that was dull...

    Whats this?

I'd have thought it was obvious, it's an Electronic High-Technology Special Motor-Sports Tool. Don't you know anything...
  21. Dunno mate, seems pretty weird. You wouldn't expect an Aeromotive FPR or a Walbro pump to go.
  22. Ah right, just wondered if the 38 was static and the 32 was idling or something, but it sounds like it wasn't. I guess it could be the adjuster has slipped, but you say the nut was tight so that shouldn't have happened. Or a dodgy fuel pump?
  23. Pressure drop from when? How are you measuring it?
  24. Nah, not a fan of obviously photoshopped pics personally. The original was fine. I particulary don't like the ones where someone has blurred the background of a stationary car as if it was moving. All natural, that's what we want, with a decent background. Like Petes and Gamers, good stuff there. All IMHO of course.
