  1. Maybe, but Koyo ones are only 300 quid are are known to be good. That's what I'd go for (and in fact have!).

    Radiator

I've just bought one. Haven't fitted it just yet, but it's very good quality and bigger than the Fluidine.
  3. This is where I trot out my usual comment when people say this, which is that big brakes & wheels ARE standard on SOME J specs, the facelift RZ had them along with uprated ABS and billstein suspension.
  4. It does matter, the filter works best on hot oil, so you want it to go take off -> filter -> cooler -> take off. Well, actually you really want a oil thermostat in there too, so ideally it should be take off -> filter -> thermostat -> cooler -> thermostat -> take off. The oil flows through the outside and back up the center, so you can see on the take off which is the outside (the feed) and the center (the return).
  5. The petrol will probably have gone off, so I'd drain the tank and refill. Also the tyres will probably need changing - if left standing in the same place they can deform apparently.

    Impact Bar?

Yeah, as I understand it it's there to stop the rad getting damaged and immobilising the car in small bumps mainly.
  7. I had a read of it. Most of the usual technical bullshit that magazines seem to recycle is in there. You know, stuff like: The second turbo is bigger than the first. Headgaskets are a weak point All jspec cars have small brakes Stock clutches will barely handle to standard power Why they never check any of this crap I don't know. And Envy - stage 1 upgrade features a cold air induction kit
  8. There is basically no fixed noise limit for cars, although there is for bikes. The only requirement is something wooly like it should not be "unsociably loud".
  9. They've probably got all the account info there whether or not you use it, I don't remember having to register separately for webmail. Looks like they got mine too, I've had loads of crap offering me copies of Photoshop, never had any before as my plusnet address I don't give out publically to avoid just that!
  10. Sounds ideal then. An unfortunate side effect of my Nur spec with the single is that everyone can hear you come in to work late...
  11. Does it come with a bung in case it's still too loud for track days Chris? I guess you could make one if not but it'd be handy.
  12. I could do with a quieter exhaust, my Nur spec is insanely loud with the single. It's kind of ok with the bung in, but what's the point of that?
  13. Yeah, you were looking very hassled! Bloody inconsiderate drivers, always breaking stuff...
  14. I gave you a head start by stopping to fill up with petrol too... The weather was really bad on the M3 though. I very much liked the gorgeous blonde driving the Ferrari though, dunno if you spotted her.
  15. I'll be there as usual. Maybe I'll see you in the pits again Dave. Who are you working with this year, Zytec again? 1, Scooby_doo_do = Expo, Wed 4am 13th to Mon 18th 4pm 2, Class One = Maison Blanche Tuesday 12th to Monday leaving lunch time. 3, SimonB = Houx, I'll be there Thurs until Sunday (travelling out Wed).
  16. It saves a chunk of space at the front of the engine bay and looks nice. That's about it.

    caparo

I've seen it in real life, it was at Goodwood this year at the Festival of Speed. There's a couple of ex McLaren people behind it aren't there? Mad looking thing, you'd have to say it was a trackday only toy though, like the Radical. Mind you, I've seen one of those that somebody drove down to Le Mans in.
  18. Koyo rads are £300 inc delivery if you look on Ebay, and are bigger than the fluidyne. Then you need a new rad cap and auto cooler.
  19. Here's the earliest I can find from me, from December 2001 when I was changing my speakers. Bit dull! I'd had the car a couple of months by then so I probably posted something earlier in chat http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=1072
  20. Machine Mart do a cheapo one, and so do Argos strangely enough.
  21. A torque wrench isn't for undoing bolts, it's for doing them up to a particular torque. If you use it for undoing stuff you'll break it. What you want is a breaker bar. Halfords do a good 12inch and 18inch one, they're about £25 IIRC. Then if you want to be correct about it you use a torque wrench to do them up again.
  22. You need to write down what the clearances are at the moment, then take each shim out and measure it with a micrometer (or hopefully they will have a number stamped on the back). Then there's a table in the tech manual which tells you which new shim you need given the existing clearance and old shim size. You then need to order the right new shims from Toyota and stick 'em in and then meaure the clearance again to check it's right. You can take the shims out without removing the cams, you need to use a special tool though. You rotate them round so the slot is at right angles to the cam and then use the tool to press the bucket down while you use a magnet to fish the shim out. It's probably easier to take the cams out.
  23. You don't necessarily. My intercooler pipework is just a series of pipe bends from a place in the USA cut to size and joined up with silicon couplers and clamps. If you want to get it welded together in the future you can, but it's far less hassle than trailoring the car to someone to fab something. It'll be near impossible to just measure it up and get someone to make it, you'll never be able to specify all the angles and lengths fully.
  24. Just for info, my oil pressure on hot idle (of around 850rpm) is pretty much steady at 36-37psi. That's on a new engine with new oil pump (it's done 1200 miles). The pressure sensor is in the feed to my oil cooler, so should be the same as in a sandwich plate.
  25. Sorry mate, only just spotted this! Anyway, I dunno really, I'll have to see how much postage will be as they're quite heavy. Say £20 + p&p?
