  1. I was going to write mine up too, you've beaten me to it Tony! I'm rebuilding my old engine.
  2. Considering the subject that's a mental picture I could do without...
  3. The oil squirters aren't part of the piston, they are attached to the block and squirt oil up and under the crown of the piston. What the stock pistons have though is channels that channel the oil to cool the piston better. Jun pistons and Carillo rods is what I've gone for on my old engine I'm rebuilding.
  4. Is it definitely the Ti-R and not the racing titanium they sell in the USA? It's supposed to be very quiet. Got a pic from the rear?
  5. You can get take-off plates that have the stat built into them - then you connect the take-off straight up to the cooler. But if you want a remote oil filter you need a separate oilstat.
  6. I've dug out the instructions that came with mine, here they are.
  7. If you do track days then an oil cooler definitely isn't overkill. It's plumbed in like this:- take off -> filter -> oilstat -> cooler take off So basically one side of the stat goes to and from the filter and the other to and from the cooler. Oil flows through the filter from the outside to the center, so your hose from the takeoff to the filter will go from the outside of the takeoff, and the return from the oilstat will go to the center.
  8. The early one doesn't have cutouts in the front bumper for the facelift indicators/sidelights whereas the late one does. As for the Trial, neither rear is a copy of the other - they are different styles if you look closely.
  9. Yes, it most definitely will. Without the coolant sensor the ECU won't know the engine is cold, and therefore won't add extra fuel in for a cold start. Check the sensor is plugged in - it's in the elbow between the water pump and top hose.
  10. Nice one Tony, they will ship them over here then. I'll be interested how you get on. Did you just order them straight off the website?
  11. You can download an app to run on the laptop that will intercept what is going to/from the serial port. No need for a PDA app. Can't remember the name of the one I used, but it was freeware. Interpreting what it logs is likely to be harder than you think though - I expect the laptop software will send requests for data as well as just receive things. EDIT: Think it was called advanced serial port monitor.
  12. Cheers Nic. A couple of normal pics would do me, I'd just like to see a pic of the actual Supra variant as all the ones on the web seem to be generic pics from another car. The design of the tailpipe, how it sits, etc.
  13. Dredging this thread up again to see if you managed to get any pics Nic? Or anyone else for that matter. Has anyone else actually got a Greddy Ti-R yet?
  14. I've got one from a 97 car - came off my old engine and was working fine when it did. £60 + p&p.
  15. Nice to see they're still spouting the same BS about speed being a factor in 1 in 3 accidents. That one came from a report that actually said it was a factor in something like 1 in 20. They massaged the figures by lumping in people tailgating, driving too fast for the conditions (but inside the limit), braking suddently etc and called that speeding too!
  16. It doesn't apply to cars, only trucks and the like:-
  17. TTs have oil squirters that help cool the pistons by squirting oil up under the crown.
  18. That will be the go kart track I expect.
  19. Sounds like you have a flat battery. The clicking will be the starter motor solenoid engaging and disengaging from the current draw from trying to turn the starter. Try charging it or another known good one.
  20. How did he get an interview with a 15 page CV anyway? That should have gone straight in the bin - way too long for anyone to actually bother reading.
  21. The affected runway is back in use during the day, although not the full length of it, so only smaller aircraft will use it. That will cause a bit of disruption as normally one runway is used for landings and the other takeoffs. Large aircraft will have to land on the takeoff runway, which will cause all sorts of hassle routing the aircraft around the taxiways. Also they have had to revert to single runway operations at night as the runway lights are out of action. So there will be quite a lot of disruption, they will cancel some short haul flights at the very least.
  22. Here is the thread I posted when I came across the rear kit in a thread on Supraforums...
  23. Bit of a strange one this, because AP DO in fact make a rear kit and a bigger front one too than is listed on the Uk website. But, it's only available from the US distributer for some reason - they have a different model line-up available over there.
  24. Depends which RPS clutch. Half of them use the standard Toyota disc with a modified clutch plate, so it's not going to be any worse than standard.
