  1. Here's a pic of the Blitz, fresh out of the box. Kit also includes the smaller header tank, power steering cooler, clamps and hoses and brackets etc. I've polished up the bits of pipe you will be able to see myself since I took the photo. They're not a mirror finish, but good enough for me.
  2. So what flywheel have you got Kevin, stock or a lightened one?
  3. Drivetrain noise is presumably because neither the clutch or flywheel is sprung? I thought having neither sprung was considered A Bad Thing? That's why I looked at the 6 puck RPS one, because it's the only one they do that's sprung. HKS triple drives like stock? Hmmmm.... Paul, what flywheel have you got now then, why the change?
  4. Forgot to say, the furthest I'd want to go mods wise in the future would be hybrids, running full decat, FMIC etc at the moment (at least I will be when I fit it!). Anyone got any of the more obscure US clutches/flywheels, unorthodox racing, HPF (HorsepowerFreaks) etc, or the Jap ones (Blitz etc)?
  5. Since my clutch started slipping in 4th driving to the Fleet meet on Sunday, I'm looking at clutches/flywheels. Having done a bit of (re)search, I've come to the conclusion it's a minefield! So many combinations of clutches and flywheels around. From what I can gather I should have either a stock dual-mass flywheel and an unsprung clutch or a lightweight flywheel and a sprung clutch to avoid potential drivetrain issues. I drive my car every day, often in traffic, so I don't want a juddery, clattery nightmare with a 1mm biting point. So, who's got what combination of clutch and fly? I think current favourite is CW uprated clutch and stock fly, but I'd quite like a lightened fly I think if I'm changing it anyway, unless it brings too many "issues". There's also the RPS lightened fly and sprung hub 6 puck max, but I've heard bad things about 6 puck clutches and chattering when you engage them.
  6. Best meeting place I would suggest would be the Avon Causeway pub, just round the corner with a reasonbly big car park. Don't know if I can make this one or not though... EDIT: Or possibly the ski centre?
  7. The interior of the Pagani Zonda is absolutely beautiful. It really is a work of art if you see it up close - never seen anything like it. That's what you get for several hundred grand I suppose (and a matching pair of shoes made by the Pope's cobbler of course).
  8. Anyone know who was filming us all leaving the pub? There were some guys on the corner with a camera. Would have been rude not to power slide out of there...
  9. Good meet! Almost complete takeover of the pub too! I'll post some more pics when I can be arsed to sort my webspace out, but here's a panoramic jobby...
  10. I take mine to Triton Motor Services, by the airport. They're a jap import specialist, very good. They don't MOT stuff themselves, they take it to a test center round the corner. Very reasonable too - if I need anything doing that I don't fancy doing myself, that's where I'd go. Guy that runs it is an ex rally driver, they run a group N rally car there too. (01202) 571564 is the number. Their workshop is right round the Aviation Park West road as far as you can go (past several very big speed bumps ).
  11. 0-100 in your average F1 car is around 4 seconds I believe. 0-200 in around 12. But most impressive, 0-100-0 in less than 6.
  12. Quite a big difference when compared to the standard ones. I still have the standard fogs, and they look quite yellow compared to the Philips ones, which look much more white (not really blue). The side lights aren't any brighter, but the dipped beam is because it's a slightly higher wattage if you put a 9005 in there from standard.
  13. I just used 9005s for the main and dipped beam. Works fine, and the beam pattern is also fine although you do have to file down the lugs as people have said. I bought some Philips BlueVision ones from http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk www.powerbulbs.co.uk . They're very good, much better than the standard ones. They were doing an offer where you got free BlueVision sidelight bulbs as well, but I don't think they are any more. I think Envy do them as well.
  14. This is on my list of stuff I want to buy, but I wasn't thinking of doing so for quite a while yet. If it's cheap enough I could be persuaded otherwise though . So put me down as semi-interested...
  15. If you do, you can have my Swiss road tax thing. They charge you 40 Euros at the border if you are going to use any motorways. You get a sticky thing that lasts a year. Legalised robbery
  16. I don't think there's anything much wrong with the stock ones on UK spec brakes, unless you're doing some serious track running. Mine have never faded, and I've done a couple of track days.
  17. The flare goes on the little clippy things on the plastic passenger side kick plate.
  18. Diff and gearbox oil change and maybe power steering fluid, although I don't think you really need to do that lot until 6 years or 60000 miles ish (can't remember exactly, the schedule is on http://www.mkiv.com under technical articles / manuals somewhere).
  19. Just to confirm, you don't need the pin. I have this alarm and I've disconnected the battery loads of times.
  20. I would put it all back to stock, and then use Pete's relay mod.
  21. I don't know anything much about gearboxes, but Here's the comment from Getrag about the problem, from mkiv.com.
  22. I don't think you could say it was common - I've never heard of anyone having problems with the 6sp box even with pretty serious power going through it. I thought it had a reputation for being very reliable. If you put the wrong gearbox oil in (i.e. anything other than Toyota V160) it causes problems, http://www.mkiv.com has something about that, but IIRC it was to do with the centering of the stick or something, not jumping out of gear.
