  1. Yep, me too (if you mean the clonking that you get if you come on and off the throttle in 1st going really slow). Not sure what it is, but it's normal AFAIK.
  2. Could be a dodgy ground somewhere. I recently had a problem when I was fitting my Emanage. I would turn the ignition off but it would stay on! I realised I'd forgotten to reconnect the ground on my RLTC unit, as a result it must have been causing the ECU to keep the ignition on somehow. You can get a new battery from Halfords btw, the decent sealed calcium ones are only £60 or so IIRC, standard ones cheaper than that so you should be able to get one cheaper somewhere else.

    manual vs auto

Not quite sure of the logic there. Or what double declutching has to do with it either tbh! The sequence is approach corner, brake, change down to correct gear with blip of throttle to match revs and avoid unsettling the rear (i.e. heel and toe), turn in, feather throttle to maintain weight balance of car and desired line, feed in throttle and exit corner. Possibly with braking, and turn in overlapped slightly (trail braking) to reduce understeer if necessary. There's no doubt that can be done far better in a manual which will mean better cornering speed and exit out of corners. But you can also screw it up in a manual by getting the wrong gear or not being smooth enough and unsettling the rear. Also, all manuals have the LSD, whereas most autos don't. That makes a big difference to the way the car drives. But hey, nobody drives on a track all the time anyway! Personally I think it's a far more involving drive in a manual, I bought a Supra because I love driving and it's an event every time I go anywhere. I drive it every day to work and I'd hate an auto, if I wanted to sit there doing nothing I would have bought a different car. But it's a personal opinion thing.
  4. It will fit a standard bumper - the manufacturers design FMICs to do this, but you will probably need to cut the bumper a bit. Almost certainly cheaper to buy an aftermarket front bumper than a standard one anyway unless you can get one 2nd hand. Instructions for the Apexi FMIC.
  5. Yep, Mohd is a good guy, bought mine from him. He's pretty much the authority on the Emanage. You should check out the Emanage Yahoo groups (e-manage is the Supra specific one, emanage is the general one). A search should find a link to them.
  6. Errrrr, dunno. you've reached my limit of knowledge on the subject! I don't see why it should affect low speed fueling as long as you have compensated for all that extra fuel with your SAFC (you'll be getting the same fuel as if you had 680cc injectors at the stock pressure). I take it you've had it on a dyno or have a wideband to see what the fueling is doing? On the Emanage you'd put a correction factor in to reduce the fueling everywhere, then add fuel where you want it with the additional injector doobrie. I don't know much about the SAFC.
  7. I haven't got any pics of the UK dials, but I can tell you there is no such thing as a UK NA, only the twin turbo was available here.
  8. The formula for the relative amount of fuel you get with changing pressures is this:- sqrt((new pressure)/(old pressure)) * 100 So for 40psi over 36psi that would be sqrt(40/36)*100 = 105%. So that's like having 5% bigger injectors. If you rearrange you can find out what pressure you need for a given increase in fueling:- new pressure = (desired increase%/100)^2 * old pressure For example if you wanted to make 440cc injectors look like 550cc ones you would need to raise the fuel pressure from 36 to 56psi, as 550/440 is a 125% increase in fuel and (125/100)^2 * 36 is 56.25. Fairly sure that's right anyway...
  9. Yes, but the issue here was that the ID plate on the car had a model code that was wrong, not the V5 document. When my car was registered the dealer got the VIN no. wrong by one digit. I had to write to the DVLA to correct it, which they did without any real evidence, so the V5 can be wrong, but the chassis plate should be correct.
  10. For Emanage stuff you want Mohd, at http://www.mohdparts.com. He pretty much specialises in it, and you'll find loads of info on his site, including the latest software etc. He'll be slightly cheaper than MVP too. I would go to MVP for anything else though for sure. As for point 3, I don't want to go into it too much, but the US guys like Dusty and Mohd are well aware of the duty/VAT issue. Suffice it to say I would expect it to be cheaper than buying from a dealer here (and probably would be even if you paid the full whack of VAT and duty).
  11. That one should be easy to spot, if it was a 96 car it will be a facelift, 94 would be a non-facelift. Most obvious difference would be the 5 dial dash (in grey) on the facelift, plus the side repeaters in the front bumper not the wing.
  12. Here on the NZ site they've got a few. And here on good old mkiv.com in the US. Don't think I've seen any UK reviews online anywhere though.
  13. Nah it's just a bulb that comes out in a holder. At least it is on the facelift. I'm fairly sure when I removed my standard TC (I have a manual) the light flashed annoyingly until I took the bulb out, even though I'd removed the whole TC unit.
  14. Other way round! You can't do proper doughnuts without an LSD as the inside wheel just spins and you just drive round in a circle.
  15. Here's some pics of them in the car:-
  16. You'll probably be wanting to avoid that underground car park this time though eh? I'll probably be up for this again depending on date etc. Could do with another 'ring sticker...
  17. My harnesses are clip-in, so they attach to eyebolts. The outside ones are easy as you just replace the bolts that hold the seatbelts on with eyebolts. I did have to buy some longer ones than came with my harnesses though. The inside ones are more of a pain. The seatbelt clip is held on with a nut on mine, not a bolt so you can't just replace it with an eyebolt. There's a seat bolt that goes into the centre tunnel that I thought I could replace with an eyebolt, but it's a different thread. I bought a metric thread eyebolt to go in there, but I had to force it which isn't ideal. Think I'm going to drill out the hole to the size of one of the standard eyebolts and use a backing plate on the other side to be safe.
  18. Remember it's torque not power that accelerates a car. Increasing the rev limit to get more power is only worthwhile if you can use a lower gear ratio to increase the torque at the wheels.
  19. Supras in general, nothing to do with imports . They are generally expensive and no more knowledgeable than anywhere else. An A service is the standard one isn't it? In which case £189 is a lot for not much more than an oil change and a few inspections. What exactly are they going to do for that?
  20. Oh, btw Peter, Sparco have now started doing a fire extinguisher mount for the harness bar which looks great, might see if I can get hold of one. Here's a pic off Supraforums:- http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/12/web/708000-708999/708482_6_full.jpg
  21. Depends what you've got it set to! It can't lower boost, only raise it. Turn it off and see what you get, and if it's still high get a ring...
  22. I've got that harness bar, it really is a lovely bit of kit, fits perfectly and is as solid as a rock. Makes a very good camera mount too as can be seen from my Santa Pod video. I bought it from Dusty too, you can't get them in this country from Sparco UK. I'm quite suprised the new seats are heavier than the stock ones too, the standard ones weigh a ton! One of them is about the same weight as both my stock Recaros.
  23. Excellent stuff, those engine photos are incredibly useful and I'm sure would be handy for pointing out where other non-turbo related bits and bobs are too.
  24. Who says the two aren't the same? PMSL at eldudereno! They are the standard Recaros that come with the facelift RZ, and yes they did have a horrible pattern on before. After Supragals penis shaped seats I am reliably informed the slots are "nut holders" . I'm going to use them for 6 point harnesses though... I've just picked them up, and they look absolutely top in the car! I'll take some photos when I've put my harnesses back and it's light. Oh, and Steve, just two words for you mate, petrol cap!
  25. Woohooo! Can't wait to pick 'em up now, they are looking the absolute dogs danglies!
