  1. If your BPU its not required, but will give some improvement on fuel and power. Stock ECU when BPU runs a tad lean just as the 2nd turbo comes in, then runs very rich on WOT/Full Boost. Getting a piggy back like the Emanage Blue would allow you to remove the lean spot as the 2nd turbo comes in and then reduce the amount of fuel on WOT so you save some juice and gain some power (running too rich reduces your power) and I think reduces bore wash (someone correct me if Im wrong).
  2. Bear in mind that pic is of a complete composite door (for an Alfa GTV) but a stock door with flat sheet should be very similar and the CF would weigh bugger all.
  3. Was that directed at me or a previous post?
  4. Numerous race cars use flat sheet carbon like the pic shown (kevlar/carbon).
  5. Just get a dash without laquer - rough carbon fibre (the end result of prepreg composites) looks cool - just not shiny.
  6. I bought some chrome effect paint from ebay - cant remember the make Im afraid but the end result was acceptable. I did have to leave the paint for a week though to fully cure.
  7. The other man probably was Edward, you know them royals...keeping it 'in' the family and all that
  8. Hmmm, it was once a stock front bumper from the looks of it, with some chav'd-to-the-max vents cut into the part above the number plate, and some side-duct stick on grills. Buy the car, replace the front bumper, petrol cap, 'eye brows' (god I hate those!) and those nasty 3 spoke alloys and you'll have a nice car.
  9. AFIAK I dont believe they come mapped, unless you buy a second hand one. I *think* you can 'zero' it so it isnt altering anything and then take it to get mapped. Alternatively, let the mappers fit it for you so you can just drive to them with the stock ecu.
  10. You should see some of his other videos: http://www.nimportequi.com/
  11. If he's not in the NW, he's not that far from it You also have the likes of Hyper Sports and Racing Ltd in Wigan who are meant to be ok (several members here use them)

    Graphics woes

Is the card seated properly in its slot on the motherboard? Is the fan on the card in working order (an overheat issue)? Try reverting back to some older drivers - the crashing may be something introduced in later driver versions (im sure not deliberately though lol).
  13. Most silicon hose is not reinforced like the stock hoses. I think they are more prone to splitting and popping off IIRC. You can get silicon hoses with a reinforced lining but you will pay more for it. I havent a clue how cheap/expensive OEM ones are from Toyota - but Steve Manley (do a search) may do them cheaper than most other dealers.
  14. Chris: Im sure it would cost quite a bit more than a cast block but it hasnt put them off the idea. At the moment they're trying to get a rough price for such work and estimated turn around, etc. Tony: His time schedule is pretty relaxed I think. Would it be possible for me to give my mate your contact info (email or tel - whichever you prefer) and have them contact you as they know more about it than myself? Cheers Simon
  15. Cheers If it is something they can do, could you PM some contact info and I'll pass them onto my mate so he can have a natter with them.
  16. Possibly, but I dont think he wants to go down the cast block route if possible.
  17. b'have: Yes he would want liners. The US company he knows of does V8 engine blocks with liners ready to go for $6500...but they are too busy to do some for him. Another company in the US quoted $20-$30k for the program alone and a 18 month wait! The main stumbling block seems to be the generation of the program. As far as he knows, he can have his current engine block laser scanned and then some CAD work to finish it off internaly I think. He has been quoted £9000 for this alone. Idealy he would want to retain ownership of the program(s) and have a first one to test then a batch of maybe 5 blocks.
  18. My mate needs a company to machine an aluminium engine block for a certain car due to lack of availability. There is a company in the US who can do it - but he'd prefer to get it done in the UK.
  19. Would anyone know of a company within the UK who are able to CNC an engine block out of aluminium as shown in the following video: ? Cheers Simon

    Track car?

They are boxy looking, though they look alright with the veloce bodykit on mated with some nice wheels. You can get the Ron Simons suspension kit (he's the chap who runs the 'alfa experience' at the ring) and its meant to handle really well then.

    Track car?

What about an Alfa 75 - cheap, 3ltr, RWD and you can get them supercharged http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.asp?s=241

    Jury service

I was summoned for Jury service, I deferred it and was summoned again 12 months later. The 2nd time I was busy again (self employed) so was excused from it. They where reasonable with regards to my circumstances from my experience - though dont leave it to the last minute to defer. Even if you do turn up there is no saying you will be selected to be a juror.
  23. http://www.programmersheaven.com/2/FAQ-JavaScript-Disable-Enable-Form-Elements There are pitfalls to such an approach. You can by default disable a submit button without script - but if for some reason the users browser doesnt support Javascript, they have no way of enabling the submit button. Therefore, it would be wise to disable the submit button on page load via the onload() event handler, then use the onclick() event handler of the 'enabled' submit button to trigger the function that enables the other submit button.
  24. For sideskirts, spats and bumpers its probably ok - wouldnt like to use flex resins on bonnet, doors, roofs, boot, wings or splitters/rear-wings though.
