Thanks Graham and Rob for your prompt and helpful replies. Graham, I will PM you with my current dynamic query in a moment. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Rob, I'll look into it, like I said Im not that familiar with SQL Server in general, but I have just ordered a book from amazon that I hope will be a good SQL Server 'bible' Cheers Simon

Just doing a bit of work on a website at the moment that uses SQL Server 2000 to store a fair amount of content. The DB contains several tables and I'm currently working on a search feature. I have it working as desired using a dynamic SQL Query (VBScript). The query pulls data from 4 tables using the data provided by the user from the search form that contains 5 fields: :: Therapist Name [Text Field] (works on a partial match) :: Therapy Offered [select Field] (using a hard coded list of therapies) :: Other Therapy [Text Field] (for therapies not provided in the select field above) :: Postcode [Text Field] (works on a partial match) :: Gender [select Field] (male/female) Since the search feature is likely to be used quite a bit I was looking into pro's and con's of converting my dynamic sql into a dynamic stored procedure. I came across the following quote on http://weblogs.asp.net/fbouma/archive/2003/11/18/38178.aspx that references 'cache execution plan' in SqlServer's Books Online: Going off the above, the authors argument is that there would be no real performance benefit switching from a dynamic sql query to a dynamic stored procedure (though I guess it would still cut down on network bandwidth). Im not familiar with the in's and out's of SQL Server 2000, so I was wondering what you guys think with regards to the above from your experiences. In my case, the average length of my dynamic sql query (assuming user completes all fields in form) is approx 1000 characters Cheers Simon

I've been looking into the IPhone 3G as I fancied one, but the following put me off: :: Crap Camera Quality with apparently no auto-focus or flash :: No video capability :: Bluetooth is crap (only works properly with other Apple IPhones) :: Cant forward txt messages :: Cant send txt message to multiple users :: Cant send picture messages :: Cant delete individual txt message from a specific user as they are all merged into one :: Have to install iTunes to register/update the phone Note: Some of the above features can be added by 'jailbreaking' the phone, however this invalidates any warranty you have with Apple.

If its not reinforced silicon hose it can collapse, silicon hoses are more prone to slipping off what they're connected to. Over tightening the clips holding the silicon in place can cause splitting. Silicon hose is OK as long as its proper reinforced stuff.

I was invited over to Ubisoft Montreal to get a hands on with it back in September for a couple of days, played a small portion of the SP on the PC, and played with the Map Editor and MP on the XBox 360. Its a nice game, not as photorealistic as Crysis, but its system specs are less demanding to compensate. The SP is good, it captures the 'open feel' of FC1, but it is in no way related to FC1 in terms of storyline. There are a couple bugs with the PC version (keybind issues, driver issues, game launching in windowed mode, etc) but the MP structure is absolutely shocking, I'd say its worse than FC1. They took the best MP game mode from FC1 (assault), bought the IPR to it, then left it out of FC2 and replaced it with a mediocre replacement called Uprising which is ruined because you always get some retard who is 'the captain' who doesnt capture the points as intended - meaning you can never win. If they fix the MP it could be a contender for game of the year, the Map Editor is an amazing piece of kit - really simple to use, shame it doesnt have an equally awesome MP to go with it. Still worth the money for the SP alone though.

3 Doctors meet at a convention and get chatting. Israeli doctor says "medicine in my country is so advanced, we can take a kidney out of one person, put it in another and have them looking for work in 6 weeks". German doctor says "thats nothing, we can take a lung from one person, put it in another and have them looking for work in 4 weeks". The English doctor says "Ha, we can take an arsehole from Scotland, put it in 10 downing street and have half the country looking for work in 24 hours"

That vid sums up why I dont bother with events, I find it funny that people make fun of chavs (for valid reasons) but then 'woot woot' over someone doing a doughnut or burnout which is one of the more popular chav activities when their mum lends them her corsa. http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/9050/chav8yh.jpg

I remember them advertising it when it was released, showing George Clooney giving a speach in trailer, then when you came to watch the film he wasnt in it till the end...giving the speach lol. Loads of my female friends where gutted that they'd say through the whole film only to see a couple mins of George.

Ok, here is the incomplete-but-useable Supra mod for GTR2 (PC), see the readme.txt file inside the ZIP file for further info. Sadly I dont think the mod was ever completed. :: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B6UGSK2Z :: http://www.filefactory.com/file/773403/n/GTR2_Supra_Mod_zip

I have the supra mod for GTR2, can dig it out later if anyone wants it. Its the same one as the images posted above - though it isnt a complete mod - sounds like a honda s2000 and has the cockpit of a skyline i think.

I thought the 5yr guarantee was from Panasonic, not the company you buy it from - so I dont see how 'price matching' should affect the guarantee

They are porting the CryEngine 2 to consoles for future games, but they wont release Crysis for them.

You could try winning one.

If you like FPS games that arent linear like most other FPS games (ie: COD series) then you cant go wrong with Farcry 2. I've played FarCry 2 on the PC/XBox 360 in Montreal (Ubisoft invited me over). Its an awesome game and has loads of replayability potential. Based in fictional part of Africa, your a merc who is hired to kill an arms dealer, along the way you'll play 2 rival factions against each other. The Dunia engine that the game is based on gives you a real-time streaming vast open world to explore, its kind of like a mix between STALKER and Crysis, in that you have several means of achieving an objective, and you can do side missions along the way. Its not as photo-realistic as Crysis, but not far off and isnt as demanding as Crysis. The gameworld is immersive and the game is sure to be one of the biggest games of the year (if not THE game of the year). It also comes with a powerful yet easy to use Map Editor that requires no technical know-how, just creativity.

To simplify, the more pixels your computer has to render, the more work the CPU/GPU has to do, if they struggle to keep up with demand your FPS will drop. Anything below 25FPS will appear to be laggy to the human eye.
