  1. Chaps can you help. For a few weeks now I have been getting a strange `howl` noise as I start to build up boost. I attributed this to a split pipe and put it into the garage. Nothing found at the garage and the `howl` has not gone away! I have crawled all over the car while a mate has driven it and although its almost impossible to determine where its coming from it sounds like it could be coming from something in the drive train? Auto box towards the diff? Also I have noticed (only this morning) that if its in drive and crawling along on tickover there is like a metallic `tinkling` sound coming from somewhere? Are these two related, does anyone know what this might be. Obviously something is on its way out and I want to solve it before I end up stuck on the hard shoulder somewhere!
  2. Awknowledged you on the M4 - are you a Reading local?
  3. It sounds like most of you guys have other everyday transport, I must be in the minority! I use mine everyday and rack up some serious milage a year ~15K pa. Thats probably why I`m up to 130K miles on the old girl! I also have a Fireblade but that only goes out in the sun so cant really be considered alternative transport!
  4. Cheers Dale..... live and learn!
  5. Also check wheel nuts have not gone slack. I know it sounds mad, but something very similar happened to a friend of mine!
  6. Not necessarily, my understanding is the oil light works on oil pressure not the oil level. Therefore you can still get oil pressure even with low oil, but the centre triangle will activate on low oil level. I may be wrong, but this is what I have been led to believe.
  7. Dale, depends on exactly which light he is refering to. If its the main warning triangle in the center of the clocks then yes this will also show up low engine oil, especially in acceleration and braking as the low oil shift in the sump and triggers the warning light.
  8. Dave, I was posting a suggestion for `SupraTT2004`. There are comments in the thread that may help him diagnose his particular problem.
  9. Might be worth going through some of the comments in this previous thread, they may help: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=48764&page=2&pp=15
  10. Use two separate bits of wire. Something like a two core speaker cable would be fine. (thats what I used) One cable in each terminal (just squidge them in so they stay fixed). Then alternate touching the negative terminal on the battery with exposed cable at the other ends. If your still unsure I think there are photos on MKIV.COM
  11. Other way round. Split the wire and put it into the terminal points under the diagnostic cap as mentioned above, then with the bare split wires at the other end keep touching the negaive battery terminal in alternation. Takes a bit to get it right, you really need someone in the car to tell you when the lights gone out.
  12. Or it can be low engine oil! Check asap!
  13. LOL That would explain the milage claim !!!
  14. I know what you mean, but they openly admit that they just want to shift it on so someone will get a bargain! This is basically a brand new car (in supra terms) ...... When I bought mine you could not find a decent anywhere, and those that were you paid the premium! Makes me think I might shift the old girl on and get a newer, lower milage TT.
  15. I know I have had mine for a few years now and depreciation takes its toll but at this rate mine will be worthless! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-SUPRA-TWIN-TURBO-1997_W0QQitemZ4580192020QQcategoryZ18290QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  16. Oh Right, cheers guys.... I`m gonna have to drive `Dukes of Hazard` Stylee! Hope to see you there (but dont wait on me). Cheers
  17. Looking to leave Reading at 7:00 sharp so theres a chance I could make South Mimms if the traffic is light. (and get some use out of the turbos...!) I know everyone is aiming to be there at 8:00, what time will you will all be departing? If I know what time you will all be looking to leave and i`m running late or delayed then I know not to break my balls getting there and just head off up the M1 at J21.
  18. Sounds like DASH, he has just moved over that way. Did it have a big spoiler and rims? Would I have seen you around?

    Squeaking Breaks

Jake, thanks for that tip! I`ll give it ago, along with copper slipping them to **** and putting in the shims! Hopefully then my braking will be smoother than a Bob Monkhouse one liner!

    Squeaking Breaks

Yep, thats them and you can add me to the list of people confirming that they are total c**p. Would never buy them again, not only do they squeal, the feel is poor and they are absolutely eating through my discs! Looking to re-evalute the whole braking thing at some point. However, still hoping someone can advise If there is any saving my lovely drilled and groved front discs?

Shame about `Pod`, is there no way you could get there and someone could get a pass off Ray for you to get in? Re the shims, I will PM you next week to meet up at your work. (you`ll hear me coming... sqquuueeekkkk)

Thats it then I`m selling up! If you had mentioned a more legitimate fake wrestler like `The Rock` or `Giant Haystacks` I would have felt happier. Cheers guys, I will have to find the thread for a laugh!
