Saw the ultimate Supra number plate this morning on a silver Merc AMG SL, just past junction 8 on the M1. I guess this is an old Supra owner who has migrated to the Merc but could not part with the plate! Is this a old or even current club member? Wont give the plate away but you can use your imagination: 'S ?? PRA'

Gunmetal Grey parked up near Halfords in Reading (std Supra alloys painted black and red) Went out on the bike today (bloody freezing) and saw Silver in Farnborough passing Infinity Motorcycles and Black with silver multispoke alloys just outside of Reading.

Looking for a decent set of rear discs for a Jspec TT. If anyone is breaking a sup with a good set or you have some knocking about in the garage please PM me with what you want for them including carrage. (please no 'make me an offers` its a pet hate of mine ) Bit broke at the moment due to setting up a new company so going to have to go down the used parts route!

Ah its a repost.......sorry guys, did not spot this! Still its very funny!!!!

To be honest the damage may already be done! A lot of these types of malware open backdoors on your machine so even if you get rid of the program the backdoor may still be there allowing the author to re-install the program or worse. The unfortunate reality is that once something like this is detected then the only way to be 100% sure the machine is malware free is to re-build it ;0(

To be honest I have done nothing as it only happens once/twice a year and corrects itself. Trying to diagnose an intermittant problem like this is a mine field. As its so infrequent and resolves itself I just put it down to adding character to the car ;0)

My understanding is the traction control cuts in and keeps the power off when it detects excessive loss of traction. If you lose traction briefly the unit will kick in but resume normal power once you get back some grip. If you boot it and the wheels spin like a top then it goes into `snow mode` and drops the power to that of a 'Lada Riva' until the TC is re-set ;0)

Found old thread....it might help? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=48855

I had this problem as well. Only happenes once in a blue moon! So I am told its some sort of electronic gismo off the box creating the problem, but I dont know more than this. Perhaps one of the more technically minded can expand on it?

Sorry if this has been discussed before but does anyone else find this annoying? Firstly I would like to make it clear that this post is nothing to do with this forum! But in general I find it a right pain in the **** when you enquire about buying something and the anwer you get is `make me an offer`. Now of course I appreciate the seller wants the most for the goods and the buyer wants to pay the least amount, but why not just set a price? As when you do `make them an offer` they get all upset about what you have offered? Even to the extent that they dont get back to you anymore or wont entertain discussing it with you any further! If, as a seller you know the price you would be happy with why not state it from the start and the buyer can decide yes or no! Saves all the pissing about! Phew...feel better ;0)

Is free virus/security software worthwhile? I have worked in the IT security industry for over 7 years and now run a corporate security reseller....... and have concerns over free security solutions. 1. they cannot possibly be as developed compared to paid for software as there are clearly receive little to no funds for R&D 2. equally they cannot be as quick to react with updates etc as multi-national organizations who follow viruses etc globally! 3. if you run a free bit of software and the machine runs ok then people sit back and say `what an excellent piece of free software, much better than McAfee, Norton etc`. A) how do you know its doing anything for a start! B) if it only picks up viruses based on signatures your probably already infected C) the new wave of virus and spyware combinations run hidden to the user and just exist to open backdoors on your machines for keyloggers and hackers to raid your personal details etc I guess what I am trying to say is, even though you may be happy with your solution it may not be as robust or capable as your impression of it may be!

Paddy is walking down the street and sees a sandwich on the floor with two wires coming out of it. Concerned he calls the police and decribes what he has seen. The policeman on the other end of the phone says 'Paddy, did you notice if it was tickin' Paddy thinks for a moment and goes 'no, I think it was beef' !!!!

As I started this thread heres another.... How many mice does it take to screw in a lightbulb......? Two if they are small enough!

Is it me or does anyone else get really pissed off with drivers flicking their fag buts out of the window? Firstly its just bloody irresponsible littering, but what I really object to is doing 80mph on the M4 behind a t**t in a BMW who flicks his discarded butt out of the window which comes flying at my car windscreen!

I had the same problem, rear end feels very unstable. Turned out to be the rear shocks.

Totally agree, see my post going back a while ago http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=60747 On the whole I have found most people to be really helpful but there have been the odd one or two who love to show their superiority over everyone else and make you feel like a t**t in the process. As I say though, 90% of people here are ready to help and I would be lost without the forum ;0)

Using the wires to put out the airbag light will work but its very difficult to do on your own. You really need someone looking at the light and someone doing the wires to get it right. I know what your asking, `how do you know when to stop`, cause the light will blink on and off when the wires are being touched. This is luck, timing and your mate going STOP at the right time! Basically they will see the light go out and stay out for a second longer than before and you need to stop immediately for it to take effect. Note, you need to keep trying! It does come down to a bit of luck, took me about 1/2 hour to get it right.

Thanks for the advice. If it was my Supra then I would definately want someone to own up, and as I say if I definately knew I had done it then I would own up straight away. The problem was that it was about 11:30 last night, the windows where covered in dew and I only saw how close the car was once I started to move away from it. Without any noticable damage to my car and the fact that I did not feel a bump or hear any scraping then I cant say either way?

Went and saw a mate round his house last night. When I went to leave there where cars everywhere in his close making it very difficult to manoeuvre. While reversing (my estate car, not the Supra) I possibly rubbed the rear bumper of another car that was stuck arse end out into the road. I moved past it and noticed a small scuff mark on the rear bumper and am now concerned that it might have been me that caused it? However, I felt no contact and there is no discerning mark on my car. Do I: a) forget about it (but feel guilty as it could have been me) or b) knock on their door and make it known that I might have scratched their car If I definitely knew I had done it then I would confess immediately as I would expect the same from someone else. However, I might be doing the honourable thing and owning up to something I did not do and they could get me to end up paying for a paint job that was not my fault and to be honest something I cant afford at the moment! What would you do?

Most likely an old virus like `keyhook` or some other similar varient. It just looks to piss you off by stopping random keys working for a short period on the keyboard. You need to get a good (quality, not free) combined security product on the machine (including av, firewall, spyware, etc) and run a full system scan. Something like McAfee Internet Security Suite as this is what we suggest is the best all round product at the moment. Hopefully it will find the malware and clean it up. The downside to all this is that if your machine has been prone to external infections then you most likely have other malware such as spyware on the machine which could have opened up backdoors. By cleaning an infected machine you can get rid of the problem in the short term but if the backdoors remain open then you keep getting re-infected bypassing the security. If this is the case you need to rebuild the machines opperating system, ie effectively start again with a fresh install.

125,000 miles.... 99% stock, runs beautifully, still looks a million dollars! Although, a word of warning. I did look into selling mine about 6 months ago and even though I priced it up `taking the milage into account` I did not get one person come and look at it! The reason....... the milage! So I have now resigned myself that I will probably own it for life, but if yours is starting to push high miles it may become more difficult to sell it on.

True, but the largest supplier of IT Security worldwide is unlikely to have a bad site themselves ;0) The ones that triggered my adviser where linked into the 220km crash photos. SiteAdvisor is just a good indicator of what sites are good and bad, plus it has an indicator that opens up with google etc highlighting this before you click on the offending website! Helps preventing you getting spam, viruses, scam sites and spyware.
