    Blueflame exhaust

YEP, I have got one......in fact I think I was probably the first one to get one built by them. Mine is posted on their web site: http://www.blueflameperformance.com/car/exhausts/custom_exhausts.asp (although in the photo they show it with a `rolled lip` finished tail pipe and I eventually went for a jap style `slash cut') I have to say I really like mine and have no complaints about build quality. I had a HKS SuperDragger before and trust me its better than that! They take time to build it on the car so you get a brilliant fit, no rattles, bangs etc but they will need it for the best part of a day! You can also spec how loud you want it and the style of the end pipe. As mentioned I went for a `slash cut` but there are a few options to choose from. I even think they guarentee it for life (as long as its on the car they fitted it to)! Funnilly enough I was just reading this thread and noticed this rear engined Polo has a BlueFlame system !! http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=104577
  2. Doing this is a bit like the full EICAR test - see http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm Its benign code that looks like malicious code and prompts a reaction from the software. For those wishing to test their AV the EICAR test is industry standard, although to be honest all AV products will detect this (if yours does not......panic!!!!!)
  3. I tend to agree in many respects, but its the way of the world now. Symantec, McAfee etc have had to raise the bar in how they protect their users as the `bad guys` dont bother writing viruses anymore. Why do something malicious when you can do something financially profitable! Viruses are on the decline and Spyware, Spam, Phishing attacks and hacking are on the up. If you only have anti-virus software, your only stopping a small proportion of the bad stuff out there.......and whats worse is you wont even know when you do get infected as the software you have cannot detect it! Yes, PC security can make it slow and a but clunky...... but thats because its working!!!!
  4. Dont get me wrong, I see nothing bad in AVG offering free software in order to catch a bigger deal. As long as the free software is doing its job and is as compitant at protecting the users PC as the user believes it is! Poor security is sometimes worse than no security! Now I am not suggesting AVG is a poor product, but in context, AVG are small organization compared to the billions of dollars turned over by McAfee, Symantec etc. Now again this is not always a good thing, but generally speaking the money spent in R&D in the corporate world filters down into the home user products, making them bigger, better and more secure. For example, how many banks, MOD sites and corporates trust AVG when compared to McAfee, Symantec, Sophos, CA, Trend etc. Trust me, having worked in the IT security industry for over 7 years I know they do their homework before they spend their money! Plus, dont be fooled, the same malware that effects a 1000 node corporate network is the same malware you will get on your PC! No one is excluded
  5. As mentioned on previous threads, words like, `cheap`, `free` and 'lightweight` arn't always good. Think of it this way, if it were supra parts and someone decribed them this way wouold you fit them to your cherished car! The problem is, anything cheap or free can only have a limited amount of scope, and ongoing development/resources thrown at it. The ones that cost money get more R&D plus technical back up. If cheap, free and lightweight were the only criteria to consider then evryone in the world would use them and the threat of getting a virus, spyware or other malicios code whould have gone away a long time ago........but its not! Dont discount McAfee or Symantec because they cost more.....they cost more for a reason!

    Playstation 3

Been playing Motor Storm and have to say I really like it. Nice graphics, ace sound track.....its a thumbs up ;0) HD quality films and even standard DVD look very good.... The only downside is the cost of the thing!
  7. CJ, you may be right, I have been weighing up the look of stripes for a while.....although I do like the look of them on the Supra....its the sort of car that can carry off the look! Would be a different story on a Corsa!!!!
  8. LOL that makes more sense now.... I have to say Simon, I love your Supra, just the right balance of individual styling without going overboard!!!!
  9. Thanks lockys, PMSL, looked up SimonB's garage photos.....his car looks effin excellent, but there is an old 3 series BMW in the background to one of the photos with GT stripes on it.......looks *******s!!! Plus I love those Lexus wheels on the Supra, one of the best wheel fitments IMO!
  10. I think I will give it a try.....keep your eyes peeled on the forum as will take some photos for opinion after I have fitted them..........no sniggering allowed!!!!! Homer!
  11. Alan, your right...the problem is that sometimes I just cant help myself and I will stand back and think it looks OK, when everyone else is laughing their socks off! I would hate to turn up to the next Reading meet with people pointing and laughing!!!!!
  12. I was hoping for an effect something like this
  13. LOL Darryl, we did discuss this and I do think it will look **** but I dont think I can help myself!!! I might do it and post up some picture to canvass opinion! Could while away a few hours tomorrow if the weather is good!
  14. For quite a while I have wanted to put a set of GT stripes on the Supra but there is always a nagging feeling that it will look ****! I saw ViperRob's in Reading on Tuesday and its got me thinking again as I think his car look fantastic! I bought a set of decal stripes last year and have never plucked up the courage to fit them........ Should I give it a try or is it a bad idea? Opinions please..... Car is silver, GT stripes blue.
  15. Cheers Guys.....so the best thing to do is get a belt and tensioner from Toyota and as the job is relatively straight forward my ususal garage can do the change?
  16. Thinking of doing another timing belt change. Any advice on where to source the parts and which make of belt to go for. Plus how much should I expect to pay a garage for a belt change or how many hours does it take?
  17. Out of interest has anyone used these pads? Can they comment on how good/bad they have found them to be?
  18. I dont think its the BOV I replaced mine and it made no difference. Unless the second BOV I put on was also knackered but that would be an amazing coincidence.
  19. Nice to see some of you down there last night, even if it was the coldest I have ever been......... Hopefully we will have warmer weather for the next one !!!
  20. Hi Richard This seems to be a growing question without any answers???? You have now joined a select group of owners with the same problem, but so far I dont think anyone has worked out what is causing it. I posted about this ages ago and mine has been doing it on and off for about a year, plus recently there has been another thread about exactly the same problems, see below: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=47994 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=102950 Its a mystery!!!!
  21. If its not for cosmetic reasons and more for 'practical' why not keep the plates the right size but coat them in reflective spray? That way you avoid drawing attention to the car....and if you are ever unlucky enough to get pulled and they challenge you over the plates........... "mr officer man, this car has has 3 owners, someone else must have sprayed them"
  22. coming up to 5 years and still love it......yea it has its moments but what else could I get to come close to replacing it without spending BIG money. I did have a wobble last year and looked to sell it as I was setting up my own business and thought I could do with the money but I`m glad I didnt. To be honest they have come down in price so much its not even worth thinking about selling it as I would be gutted to sell it for anything less than I feel would be its true value...... Chances are I will own it for life!
  23. Thanks, its not patronising at all (when it comes to the turbos im a dullard ) But I have had my supra for nearly 5 years and its only really started happening in the last year. Equally, it does not seem to be getting any worse to when it first started? As an example I drove from Reading to Norfolk on Sunday. Chilly, yes, but not freezing cold. Lets say from standstill I pull away, the first turbo starts to come in and (not always) you get the 'wooooooing' for about a second or two, then as it continues to spool up it stops immediately? It also happens at higher speeds, for example I can also be doing 60mph and if I accelerate to bring the turbos in..... same thing!
  24. Hi Jake, I had mine done without cat removal so I cant give you proper advice here. When I was there we did discuss the system without cats and after much debate I opted to not go down the BPU route. (based on the milage I do nothing else) I can tell you that these guys do seem to know their stuff and as previously mentioned somewhere in this thread build systems for many of the top bike racing teams and OEM on TVR, Bentley etc so they should know exactly what they are doing. I guess a simple way round would be to get youself the front downpipe section of the system from someone off here and get them to build back from from that? Although this may cost you more. Also, if you do go to them they favour a solid looking tail section, which I was not keen on so they made me a Jap style 'slash cut' rear box. Its your choice but I would go for this if you have the option.
  25. I dont think its the `death whine` as I have Jspec ceramic turbos, and they tend to just detonate rather than whine. Plus its a different noise. I`m not sure if the cold weather plays a part in it, I have never taken much notice, but am sure I had it in the summer as well. I cant work it out. But it might be worth seeing if we have any similarities in our vehicle set ups, I have: 93 TT Auto HKS (green mushroom) air filter Standard J-spec turbos Standard BOV Standard I/C setup and hoses Both cats still fitted Stainless steel cat back system ????????
