  1. Isn't the 12 days thing just about making sure you take the decorations down before twelfth night (Jan 6th) ?
  2. My buckets aren't padded at all, by the way.
  3. Brain's solution sounds good. I tried a couple of fixed-base seats, but found that they either didn't secure tightly, or they didn't leave enough legroom in the front. Didn't try the Graco, though, and from the looks of their website, it looks like they do a range of "compact" travel systems, which sound like just the thing!
  4. I actually found that you had quite a few options for rearward-facing seats. The only limit was the length of the rear seatbelts, which mean you are limited to seats which boast "alternative seatbelt routing". I'm afraid none of them fit absolutely perfectly on the base of the seat, beacuse of the depth of the bucket, but with the passenger seat set back onto it (reduces the legroom for the front passenger by a little bit), the seat is secured absolutely rigid - more securely, in fact, than I've seen anything short of an ISOFix get. They were more than happy at the Mothercare store where I got it and at the Halfrauds store where I tried a few out (depending on how far you trust both of these, of course!). It's a real pain getting the seat in and out, mind - I have to pop the seat into the back on the passenger side, then go round and lean backwards from the driver's seat to actually get the think strapped in properly. In the end, the one I got was part of the Mothercare "Urban Detour Xtreme" Travel System. If I get a chance, I'll take a few piccys of the seat in place if you like?
  5. Well, for the word "FILLET", I believe the correct British pronunciation is "fill-it", but the American pronunciation is "fill-ay". The issue is, however, is the fact that McDonalds use the slightly-more-poncy spelling with a single "L" (go on - look closely at the menu), "FILET", which, I believe, should always be pronounced "fill-ay" in both British and American English.
  6. This sort of thing should cover you for rough-and-ready text entry menu system. public static void main(String[] args) { mainMenu(); } private static void mainMenu() { System.out.println("MAIN MENU"); System.out.println("1 - Option 1"); System.out.println("2 - Option 2"); System.out.println("Q - Quit"); String command = getInputCommand(); if (command.equalsIgnoreCase("1")) { option1method(); } else if (command.equalsIgnoreCase("2")) { option2method(); } else if (command.equalsIgnoreCase("q")) { System.exit(1); } private static String getInputCommand() { BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in)); String command = null; try { command = br.readLine(); } catch (IOException ioe) { System.out.println("Data Entry Failure"); System.exit(1); } return command; }
  7. Yep - love them on black - don't like them on silver.
  8. Try not to transcode between compressed formats if at all possible - it really knackers the sound quality.
  9. Need Doesn't cover any Dangerous Driving offences. Yes, you'd need receipts for everything: Max payout is pro-rata'd: For accident and theft cover, they only cover 3 weeks hire max: And you pay a 3-day hire excess: And, most notably, it's up to them what they pay for: So maybe if you get disqualified and then get a taxi to work instead, they may be able to claim that you would have incurred some cost by driving yourself anyway?
  10. Well - it's soccer, I'm afraid, mate - so you and I both know it doesn't count as a real sport (it IS difficult to remember to back out of those tackles sometimes!). And don't underestimate the all-round sporting skills that all us "real" football players have - I put away a hat-trick this evening!
  11. Spotted in the school car park at 7ish - top secret (?) kit, by the look of the quick glance I got. Saw the club stickers in the rear quarter.
  12. No Supra in it, but you are right - it is the best track racing simulation by a country mile.

    Competition

Not rapid? This is the RS6, you mean? They're faster than a stock TT Supra, no?

    what cheek!

    "Navigator of the windward passage"
  15. You had a GTR and traded in for an N/A Supra??? I mean - in my opinion the Supra is a much prettier car, but power-wise that's quite a big step downwards, isn't it?
  16. To be honest, I would too, Scob. I'd always pay for that sort of check to be done given the option, and if that made the final price more expensive, I'd go somewhere else, and if you feel that a vendor was trying to hide the fact that they didn't do the check from you, then you have every right to feel defrauded IMO. Warning - essay alert!..... I think this sort of practice has actually been emphasized by the abundance of internet shopping. When you used to go to shops to buy stuff, you really noticed the service, support and other stuff that you were paying for by shopping there. Shops differentiated themselves from eachother using that sort of add-on service. With the internet flooded with online shops where first-time customers have no gauge of the real service quality being provided, the only thing the shops have to differentiate from eachother is the price. That's the first thing you look at when you compare one on-line shop to another. So shops, trying to present themselves as having the lowest price, are stripping their services down to the absolute shitty minimum. To be honest, I hadn't even heard of the issue you raised when I first read your post, but I can see how it's come about. As with all these things - when it goes fine, you'll be chuffed with the low price, but when it goes wrong, all hell breaks loose: it's not until you turn up at the airport and Easyjet tell you they're running late and you'll miss your connection and f**k up your entire holiday and they won't even compensate for the extra night in the hotel that you realise why they were so much damn cheaper than everyone else in the first place! ...phew....sorry!
  17. On the flip side, think of it like this: The shop may have actually reduced the price of all it's products by £50 (or increased its profit margin, more likely, to be honest!). Now - they are giving you the option: - pay £50 for them to check it before sending it out. They are providing the same service you would normally expect at the same price. OR - you can just whip one straight of their warehouse, but if it happens to be a faulty one, you'll have to go through the whole replacement procedure. So they're giving you the choice, really. You don't get anything for free, you know - the "checking" step is just included in the regular price at other shops..... I bet you went to this shop because it was cheaper than other suppliers, yes? Well now you know why! I would say the only problem is if the company in question is hiding the fact that they do not perform the check by default - then there may be a trading standards issue. As for other businesses, it's kind of the same as low-cost airlines not providing meals on flights and limiting baggage and stuff (odd example, but its the industry that I know!)? When they first announce these things, everyone complains, saying that they expected to get meals on flights, be allowed more luggage, etc. so they started selling "extras" (not that sort of extras!) to let people pay for these services - it brings the price back up, but also improves the overall service. The airlines give you the choice of whether you want to pay for the add-ons or not......

    wot do men want??

Maybe a new clutch? Get him one for Christmas, then by the time his birthday comes around, it'll be worn and he'll be ready for another one!

    Snowflakes

I only clicked about 20 or so snowflakes - I guess the recently added ones come up more often. As for the arcade, it's more to do with wasting too much of my time rather than any skills, I think! Tried the keepy-uppy, but it's too frustrating when you play for ages and then drop it!

    Snowflakes

Just caught the mkivsupra one without searching!
  21. A couple of mates of mine have done a lot of investigation and shopping around for laptops recently, and they both (independently) ended up going for the same one: Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi
