    3 ps3's guy

Funny video. Joke starts to wear thin near the end, tho. lol - yep - the best bit. "Because I have 3 PS3's........ .....also I have this cake."
  2. Reposting my own stuff, but felt appropriate: http://www.fat-pie.com/love.htm

  4. Assuming your company was privately owned, you can't blame ADP. They are a big, crap corp, of course, and deserve disdain for that alone. But the fact you now work for them is because the owners of your company sold out - and despite being good employers to you previously, they obviously didn't take the employees into consideration when the big cheque arrived! I hope you all got a nice chunky bonus when the sale went through, at least.
  5. The crazy thing is that BT have a fixed price for new installations. My brother owns a house on Bodmin moor, when they had to get a new BT line in, they charged the fixed fee (£100 or whatever it was at the time) and had to put up about 2 miles of poles to get the line there!!!
  6. Annoying this one isn't it. Mine has the same problem with the screen wash. Do it with the window open and it splashes back and drips down through the driver's side window!
  7. If response time is v. important to you and you've got the space, might be worth considering the 42" one instead. It's even quicker, with a 4ms response time, and only costs about £100 more than the 37. On the flip side, the techonlogy is 6 months older (apparently the new 37" use a different manufacturing process), and there has been the occasional reported problem with colour-banding (although I've only seen those from a couple of the serious home cinema geeks on avforums). Myself, I'm going for the 37", but that's mainly due to the fact that it's the right size for my room. The only other TV I'd narrowed my decision down to was the 40" Sony Bravia, but whilst it's a solid TV (Sony's usually are), the Sharp's actually been getting better reviews and is cheaper.
  8. Yep - the Sharp is 1080p. 1920x1080. I have a friend who bought the 42" version and is very happy with it. I am planning to buy an LCD next month - I want 1920x1080 'cos I'm planning to use it for my PC too - and the Sharp is top of my list at the moment. There's a few specs here: http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-Sharp-Aquos-LC-37XD1E But basically, you're looking at a 1920x1080 panel with 6ms response time. Review-wise, the TV is quoted to have the best contrast of any HD TV in the same price range at the moment, and some of the best images for SD (non-HD) pictures on an LCD (typically a weak point compared to Plasma and CRT) I don't think you'll find better value for money at the moment, so I'll highlight a couple of downsides rather than the (many) positives: - The 42 and 47" versions apparently had a few reports of colour banding issues, but the 37" is a new production run with a different screen in (that's why the 37" is almost the same price as the 42"). - Connectivity is pretty standard, 2xHDMI, 2XSCART, VGA, Composite. But apparently 1080p is ONLY through the HDMI connectors, not throught the VGA or Composite connectors, so you'll need HDMI connectivity if you want 1920x1080 from your PC (I'm gonna use a DVIHDMI adaptor). - Viewing angle is quote as 176 degrees or something, but apparently there is noticable drop-off after about a 45 degree shift either way, so worth having an in-store preview if you're expecting to need wider viewing As suggested above, the forums at http://www.avforums.com will have more than enough information to leave you evaluating and procrastinating for months to come! I have been following the forums looking for the right TV to buy for 6 months now, and have finally decided the time is right and the Sharp is the one I'm after.
  9. For 1080p, obviously how much you're willing to spend is key, but I would recommend the Sharp 37XD1E (at about £1,200) as best value for money for 37" 1080p's at the moment. Don't know what availability is like at the moment as the TV's only just come out.
  10. Depends what connectors are on the DVD player, Jurgen. Basically, the components needed for any set up are: 1. Sound source (TV, DVD Player, XBox, etc.) Then, for surround sound sources: 2. Decoder. This splits the digital sound into multiple sound signals for different speakers Then: 3. Amplifier. This increases the power of each of the sound signals (normally for all except the subwoofer, which has it's own amplifier) 4. Speakers! For an ideal flexible set-up, you want to be able to plug anything anywhere into this sequence, but for practicality, many of the features are frequently built into a single unit. For example, amplifiers often have decoders built in, and DVD players sometimes have decoders built in. For example, at my place, I have my X-Box, DVD player and TV (amongst other things!) all connected up to my amplifier/decoder. The amp then connects to the speakers. I use the amp for handling all the sound (so the TV itself is always muted - the sound goes from the line output to the amplifier). Do you know where each of these jobs is done in your set-up?
  11. Which model LG is it, Jurgen? To be able to get surround sound from TV or X-Box, you need something where you can connect in to the decoder/amplifier from an external sound source.

  13. Tell me about it! I work in Godalming and had an absolute nightmare getting home! Ah well - at least I'm not the poor soul who's car got smashed, I guess....
  14. me too Wind must be even faster up that high, I guess!?
  15. Nice one - someone else to wave to in Guildford when it's here! Did you find out whether it would safely get onto your drive at home without grounding?

    Sky broadband

I'm about 2.5km from my exchange and have the Sky 16Mb package (tenner a month). I get about 3Mb D/L. It's not great, but can't really complain for the price.
  17. Yep - you're right. "take more notice of it" does NOT mean they would agree to it. It just means that your broker is suggesting that any owners' club documents discussing the value of your car might help you in the inevitable argument following a total loss. By the way, Sky will also charge you an additional £35 for the agreed valuation, but I would suggest that even the £35 plus the extra cost of the insurance is worth the peace of mind.
  18. Closer to 2 seconds, isn't it? Supra TT ~5s 0-60 Supra NA ~7s 0-60
  19. Errrrr - just a rumour I heard!!! Search for "Ockham Common" on Google - you don't have to look too far down the list!
  20. Ford RS200 has to be top of my list. Also - it was posters of the Lotus Esprit that were up on my wall as a youngster. Still love the look of it.
  21. lol - cheers, Pete - I'd forgotten how many deluded nuts there are in the world - made me laugh!
  22. You're going to meet at Ockham Common? What sort of reputation is THAT going to get for us Supra owners???
  23. I don't have any problems at all with people who want to sit in the middle lane, unless they are actually holding other people up. I mean if they want to sit in the middle lane on an empty road, who cares. It's only when they are actually holding people up (ie. two cars trying to overtake them at different speeds) that they are annoying. But tailgaters has got to be the obvious choice. Whilst the lane hogs and the non-indicators are annoying, the tailgaters are the really dangerous ones IMO.

    pin number trick

When returning to my car in the car park the other day, after having been brutally assaulted (mugged and held at a cashpoint, entered my PIN reversed 3 times, card got swallowed, I got beaten up), I had just gotten into my car and started it, only to notice a piece of paper tucked under my rear windscreen wiper. Imagine my surprise when I got out to remove the offending article and all of a sudden......... Anyone still checking cinema seats for syringes?
