  1. Snooze

    2$ = £1

I would hold off buying anything from the US for a few weeks yet, guys. Experts predict that the 0.5 GBP barrier was more of a psychological one than a financial one, and that now the dollar has dropped below, it will decline more rapidly, possibly even ending up closer to 3 USD to the pound within a few years.
  2. Yeah - 24 is an unbeatable Perfect round on Beer Golf. I had the high score before with 25 and that took me ages, remembering the right place to click to make a perfect shot on each hole. Your 5,099 on Snake is beatable. I had the previous high score here at 5,001, but I've scored over 6,000 on the game before.
  3. The Soap Bubble score of 14,000 odd is also impossible.
  4. Import TT here. Run mine on V-Power, but as far as I am aware, they will run okay on standard Super Unleaded. I get about 19mpg on my usual driving. As high as 25mpg on motorway driving and as low as 12mpg on fun driving!
  5. Wooooo! Not only do I manage to get one of the rapidly-selling tickets for the "Last Ever" Carter USM gig in Brixton in November..... I've just heard they've announced Sultans Of Ping FC as the support. Hurrah!!!! And THEN I hear a rumour of either Carter or Ned's Atomic Dustbin playing an unannounced gig just down the road from here next weekend and snag some tickets and I've found something else which really strengthens the rumour too! Today is a good day.
  6. Looked the same as all the other MMOs to me.
  7. I agree with you entirely, and believe that I live by the smae morals, however in my opinion, the problem is that there are sufficient people in society who AREN'T taking responsibility for their actions to mess up society for everybody. This is the major downside of chav culture! And that number is only getting bigger. Religion, and the threat of hell was a good way of keeping those people in line. These days, justice should be able to do the same thing, but thanks to the limited powers of our police, judges and courts and the increasing powers of lawyers and so-called "human rights", it is failing us pretty badly.
  8. I agree too - some religions have demonstrated truly awesome mass mind-control results. However, I would also tend to agree with Penguin in that I think the decline in social conscience here in the UK is almost definitely linked to the decline in religious belief. I'm not saying I think we should all be religious, I'm just saying that I don't think we've come up with as good a social control mechanism yet. A lot of what is acceptable in UK society these days is now defined by individual human rights, the results of which can be seen in the obtuse levels of selfish, thoughtless and abusive behaviour which can be witnessed nationwide. Relying on peoples personal morals to uphold a society seems to be failing in comparison to more tradtional religious-oriented social organisations. Maybe it's time we came up with something new?
  9. Ah - but Scooter was suggesting that it was life with minimal or no other sin (from which I assume you weren't talking about yourself, Scooter, mate! ), therefore, the servicing was being done to the Toyota specification, I think? Actually - maybe I'm trying to analyse this analogy too intimately! Personally, I think a certain degree of life's issues are caused by the fact that people are not as grateful for the life they recieve any more - certain in the westernised world, media, marketing and celebrity status feeds peoples expectations from the word go. Whether peoples gratitude should be to their God, their parents, their society, or whatever - I think people treat their own lives with less value than ever before. btw, Penguin - props to you for trying to present some of the religious (and theistic evolution) side of the discussion in a friendly and jovial manner.
  10. How about this then: How many planets in the universe have we actually even checked for life and found none? We haven't even checked all the planets in our own solar system yet!
  11. Okay. Here's something. Ever noticed the resemblence between solar systems and atomic structure? What if our galaxy and universe just make up the molecules of an even bigger universe? Maybe the "big bang" (for those of you who believe it, of course!) was just a giant fusion experiment or something? Edit: come to think of it, that would be a creationist theory too!
  12. ...last night, my son (now 9 months old) started copying for the first time. Lying on the bed with a new bear he'd got, he watched me give it a kiss on the nose. He then did exactly the same thing. Leaned slowly forwards and gave the bear a tiny little peck on the end of its nose.... My heart pretty much flipped at that point!
  13. Yeah - I've had this discussion with Chief before (last year some time I think). It's pretty pointless as you can probably tell - rather than actually discussing evidence of creationism and trying to convince everybody about creationist theory, he just tries to rubbish evolution theory by making up numbers about the chance of things occurring by accident - I doubt he's even looked into evolution theory properly - probably just copying arguments from Christian paleontology websites. That said - seems like a decent enough fellow (the comment to Charlotte I think you'll find was intended as a joke), and did inspire me to go and do some more reading last time. If his religion is keeping him off the streets and out of trouble, that's the best we can ask for, I guess! Not sure how I got dragged into it again this time. No more comments from me. PS. I also disbelieve in Vegetarianism, by the way - deluded fools worshipping some omnipresent carrot or something, isn't it?
  14. Well that's that disproved then!
  15. ...and btw, I'm not saying your "God" doesn't exist. I don't think I'm so self-important that such an omnipotent being would make themself known to me. But conversely, as there ISN'T ANY PROOF EITHER WAY, I prefer to remain open-minded about it, which is where you seem to falter, Chief: If you want to think you've disproved evolution, go ahead and delude yourself that infinite equals seven point five. That doesn't mean you've proved the existence of God.
  16. And here's where it falls flat. According to your argument; "it couldn't happen by chance", means you believe that: 12,680,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000,000 .... is "pretty much" equal to infinity and constitutes "proof". Which is nonsense. Fact.
  17. Chief, quick question: Do you know that God exists, or do you just believe that God exists? PS. just the short answer, please!
  18. People I know who considered it were, in the end, unwilling to give up half their boot space to an LPG conversion. That was the main reason for not going ahead!
  19. I recall a certain thread where I suggested that we had stuff in common? You were having none of it at the time!
  20. "Second Language" by Disco Inferno "Cowardice & Caprice" by The Blue Aeroplanes "Pearl" by Chapterhouse oh... and "Pure" by The Lightning Seeds
  21. T-Mobile here, and the one thing I would suggest is to check coverage in your main usage areas first if possible. The T-Mobile network seems to be one of the patchiest.
  22. I'm usually known here for my desire to seek out some of the less-well-known bands just to find something different. So, in a snooty, missed-the-bandwagon, kind of way I deliberately avoided the Northern Arctic Monkeys first effort for a while. When I finally listened to the album, some months later, I really, really, really didn't want to like it. Conclusion: best album I bought last year. Looking forward to the next one!
