    Owls wise ?

LOL - if it was that bugger (a great grey owl, I think?), it probably would have come right through the window - they're enormous! It also would have to have flown a long way - you don't get them in this country!
  2. Not a bad result, Robert. Would that be a Cat D? What about medical fees? Any real chance of claiming for them?
  3. Past. "Passed" is ALWAYS a verb "Past" is NEVER a verb After he passed his birthday, he was past his retirement age.
  4. Cooking! Noooooo. You ruin it! You're right that you don't need a lot of it in one go, though. But that's a good thing, no?
  5. Proper, 60%+ chocolate is the only real chocolate! Madagascan cocoa - Amedei or Michel Cluizel are my faves.

    Pgr4

Would warn you that the wheel will only be useful for a few games (PGR4 probably being one of them). Don't get me wrong - the wheel will WORK with all games, but most driving games are aimed at people with joypads, not steering wheels (ie. you're expected to chuck it about lock-to-lock with a quick flick of the thumb - absolute nightmare with a steering wheel). Also, make sure you have an appropriate surface to use it on - lap mount steering wheels really don't work very well (especially when you're moving your legs to operate pedals). I bought the MC2 wheel on my original X-Box. Although I have at least a dozen driving games, the only ones it was vaguely useful on were PGR and Richard Burns Rally. Everything else just felt wrong. That said, I played a lot of Live For Speed on the PC, and the quality of the simulation and especially the force feedback had rather spoilt me, so don't necessarily take my word. Really suggest you try one if you can before you lash out £90 - or at least buy it from somewhere with a no quibbles refund policy!

    Pgr4

Problem I have with the PGR (and GT come to think of it) series is that they never seemed to decide whether to design the game for a gamepad or a steering wheel controller and as a result the games never felt right with either.

    HI from Oundle

This. You'll probably find the saving you make running a 52mpg (Diesel) car over a 20mpg (V-Power) car for your day-to-day driving actually more than pays for the additional cost of running two cars (2 x tax, 2 x insurance. On the downside, you'll still be doing 300 miles a week in your Pug and the other 100 in your Supra (although this also means you may qualify for a cheaper, limited-mileage insurance policy!).

    Classone

That post would work well if it didn't automatically add the mouseover!
  10. Sorry: here is Scalextric link: http://www.juegosdecoches.com/Juego_35.html There's a whole bunch of driving games on the site: http://www.juegosdecoches.com/

  12. Bah. Has the flash Scalextric with the track builder been posted before?
  13. How cool is this: http://www.linerider.com/play.html
  14. One day I might finally realise that I'm actually not that funny!
  15. Errr - okay - I give up. It was meant to be a joke; a classic optical illusion which I intended to parody with something that was obviously incorrect, and then tried to encourage people to gaze at an image (which I knocked up in 5 seconds in MS Paint) for longer. This square has a "fifth side" which mysteriously appears when you stare at it for a few seconds: http://aycu12.webshots.com/image/21851/2005904653685142121_rs.jpg
  16. Just found this: it's mental: http://www.michaelbach.de/ot/col_lilacChaser/index.html
  17. No, no - the lines are precisely the same length. Try staring at it for a few minutes......
  18. Yeah - and look closely. These lines are actually exactly the same length!!! : http://aycu37.webshots.com/image/18556/2005474501697136574_rs.jpg
  19. Used to get recipe books but don't bother any more - the internet is chock-full of good recipe sites. A quick Google search will turn up thousands.
  20. For rear facing, we also had the Mothercare Urban Detour! In the back seat, behind the passenger. The belt won't hold it particularly securely, but if you put the passenger seat tight down onto it when you tilt it back down (you do lose a couple of inches leg room for the passenger, mind), it's locked into place firmer than a very firm locked thing - there is no movement in the seat at all. Front-facing is a bit trickier - we got a Maxi Cosi Tobi in the end. Wasn't a great fitting, but it only had 1 or 2cm movement when given a firm yank, though, so it was safe enough.

    Rome

It's good stuff. The same HBO crew are making the TV series "Fire" next year. It's a TV adaptation of George RR Martin's "Song Of Fire And Ice" - the best fantasy books EVER. Really looking forward to it - it'll need to be plenty gory and graphic if it's going to do the books justice......

    Had accident!!!

Actually, whether he was > or If he was going too fast to stop in the event of a car legitimately (ie. without being able to see him) pulling out of a side junction, then he was travelling too fast - the actual speed limit is irrelevant. However, this is applied judiciously, so that a reasonable speed can be legitimately maintained. That's why I would suggest that you state that you could not see him when you pulled out (which you did at a slow, careful speed, attempting to avoid the oncoming vehicle as soon as it was visible), and that the road down which he approached was narrow and full of parked cars blocking visibility (ie. try and imply that even 30mph was too fast for the conditions). tbh, I personally wouldn't send the insurance that first photo, as the road looks pretty clear in it.
  23. My son is a year old now, and up until last month, the Supra was our only car. The back seat was absolutely fine for both a rear-facing and front-facing car seat. The reason we got the Aristo instead was because of storage space for all his stuff, not room for him himself.

    Had accident!!!

Ah - so you didn't see him because of the parked cars, I guess. Bummer IMO, you're going to need to get one or two of those witnesses to state that the other car was speeding, 'cos with the situation described and the look of the skidmarks, I'd be surprised if it didn't go 50-50 (you'll claim that you couldn't see him and pulled out as normal - he'll claim that you pulled out right in front of him). If anything, the claim may even go against you, as you were the one "performing a manouver". Crap, I know - but I've seen it happen..... EDIT: Thinking about it - if people are refusing to put in a statement even though they witnessed the accident, that's really, really sh*t. I'd be seriously pi**ed (in fact, I'm pretty pi**ed at these people on your behalf!). Did they give any reasons why they wouldn't help?
