  1. Suggest you start using your left arm to change gears instead - might help prevent any future accidents.
  2. Hehe - I used to do something similar with my eldest. He would sometimes climb out of his seat and into the drivers seat after we'd got out. I would then use the remote start so he thought he started the car!
  3. It's a good job sexism for TV presenters only applies to men, or the Loose Women would have all been sacked a long, long time ago to the chagrin of many housewives throughout the country. Might have meant more cleaning going on and less daytime television watching too!

    Asda Price

The best mistake that I discovered was when I noticed at the checkout that Sainbury's "Buy one get one free" was actually implemented as a discount equal to the price of the item (ie. for a £1 BOGOF item, rather than ringing up £1 and then £0, the till would ring up £1 then £1 and then apply a -£1 discount). They then applied this discount to some of their fresh goods. Fresh goods that get manually marked down on their best before date. So as soon as a BOGOF item gets marked down to less than half of its original price, you could actually make a profit by buying it! In my example, a £1.50 bag of pre-prepared carrots was marked down to 40p. Buying two meant the till rang up 40p, 40p then a discount of £1.50!!! I took the whole shelful to the till with the rest of my shopping - the guy at the checkout looked completely bemused. Not, however, as bemused as the service desk when I took them straight back saying I'd changed my mind but didn't want my money back!
  5. Two colleagues of mine had these. BOTH ended up getting rid because of unrepairable (or economically unviable to repair) roof leaks.
  6. I believe Flight Sim X will also be the last one in the series. I seem to recall a Microsoft announcing they were stopping development on it.
  7. Think so. A quick Google turns up a lot of info! http://www.messybeast.com/dragonqueen/pugwash.htm
  8. By the way, the aforementioned Captain Pugwash characters NEVER EXISTED. IIRC, the crew consisted of: - Tom the Cabin Boy - Master Mate - Barnabas - Willy (that's as rude as it got!) It's the fault of Richard Digance, apparently.
  9. The stupid thing is, if everybody who actually used Photoshop bought Photoshop, they could probably retail it for £20 or so.
  10. ....except Photoshop and Illustrator cost huge ££££££££££!
  11. Inkscape? or GIMP (if photo imagery is involved)
  12. What age group is the book aimed at? Is it aimed at people that will appreciate and understand the representation of those racist times? I really don't think anyone will dispute leaving the original text if this is the case. .....or is it aimed at children who will snicker as it's read in class then run round the playground shouting "nigger" at eachother? This is what I believe they're trying to prevent.
  13. Very appealing but a, sadly, flawed, analogy. I imagine the guy only flashed because of the speed trap. I bet he doesn't flash everyone who is breaking the speed limit. The bank robbery analogy only applies if you are only tipping off the potential robber because you're aware of a police ambush waiting for him, NOT becasue you think it is wrong to rob a bank. So you probably deserve to be punished too. That said, I personally think this is all kinds of wrong because I don't morally agree with speed limits in the first place.
  14. Yes, but the issue is the ratio between the monetary difference in property values and our household income. Assuming income doesn't drop 50% as well (which would make it all meaningless as per your description), then a big drop in property values would make a bigger house more affordable immediately.
  15. OMG. I think you have to ban yourself for that one, Charlotte!
  16. Personally, I don't mind if people want to condemn the lady's driving or treat it as an unfortunate, but acceptable, accident....... .......as long as they would still say the same if she had ploughed into a bunch of schoolkids.
  17. I agree. Government hasn't worried about any demonstrations thus far. A bunch of students waving placards won't stop them. It's not like they can go on strike or anything!
  18. What we need is an independent body that can set maximum fees based on course. That way, people can be steered towards the type of education that the government need them to have (for the benefit of society). The system would have to be tiered, so that an appropriate balance of culture, art, science, commerce, etc. can be maintained. So every course would be classified by this body, then for whichever classifications they want more people doing, education establishments are forced to keep the first X places with lower fees. So, for example, maybe ALL "Medical" degrees would be fee-free, but only 100 places nationwide would be fee-free on "Dance" or "Latin" degrees, with establishments free to charge higher rates for further placements.
  19. O&P together at the start for a split second to get the weight transfer forwards (can also use this later on if the guy stops leaning forwards). Then Q&P together to get one foot underneath you. Don't do a full extension - you need to keep the guy leaning forwards. Then O&W to do the other leg the same way. Rinse, repeat. It's still damn near bl**dy impossible, because you have very little margin for error as to the timing of switching legs - in half an hour of trying I've not managed more than 10m, but I've done it with decent running form.
