  1. That's the point here, isn't it? You're right, of course, 100k miles is comfortable milage for a well-maintained 2JZ, but would anyone apart from the people here know and appreciate that? Would anyone apart from the people here trust the engine to be a well-maintained one? PS. you should look at Aristo prices! I'm not sure these things could possibly depreciate any faster!!
  2. If it helps, I sold my v.good condition (not quite mint) stock '93 6-speed TT J-spec with 70k miles back in August. Advertised it for 8k, sold it within a fortnight at £7.7k. I never really understood the higher prices people were expecting for UK-specs, but then being an oldie (haha - 34), the insurance wasn't that different for a J-Spec for me.
  3. Mensa used to deliberately make their IQ tests easier than standardised tests to try and get more people to pay up and join..... (allegedly).
  4. 28/30 in 8 minutes - IQ 142 apparently. Ha! That proves the scores are too high on that test!
  5. Love the Goon Show. Don't remember the one you're talking about, tho'
  6. Bah - B shouldn't be difficult to renegotiate if your missus is serious about things. My missus and I (still not married yet) took out our current mortgage about 6 years ago now. As I also pay about 75% of our monthly bills, she happily agreed to have the house 75% in my ownership, 25% in hers. I wouldn't trust anyone (man or woman) who expected to get out more than they put in to something, be it financial, emotional or whatever.
  7. Shouldn't worry too much if it's just your speedo that was at 33mph, mate - it's probably reading high anyway, even at that speed.

    Ps3 60gb

Pretty much. The only other difference is that they've removed the emotion chip, which is required for hardware emulation of the PS2, which means the new 80 gig one won't be able to play all PS2 games.

    Ps3 60gb

Yeah - the 80GB is replacing the 60GB one.
  10. When you turn it on after the alarm has been triggered, it flashes out the numerical code for the trigger that got set off, if that's it?
  11. I've got that Yoda. It's top notch! - it comes with a lightsabre, and the Yoda moves around and instructs you how to be a Jedi - you have to follow his instructions with the lightsabre to improve your Jedi skills - the little Yoda actually detects the lightsabre movements to check if you're doing it right! And if someone else has the same Yoda they talk to eachother!!! :D

    Petrol Strike

A petrol strike by blockade seems slightly ludicrous. I don't see why the government would pay any attention to it, myself. Surely, the whole point of a petrol strike is that Joe Public demonstrates their complaints about petrol duty by not buying petrol THROUGH THEIR OWN CHOICE, not because it's forced upon them? ie. by proving that they need to actually blockade deliveries to force people not to buy petrol, isn't that kind of showing that the complaints are only really those of the minority? If there really was a large majority of people in the country who objected to current fuel tax, surely they would happily be demonstrating by just not buying petrol, regardless of whether there's a blockade or not? If we showed our complaint by voluntarily avoiding buying fuel, that would be much more telling to the govenrment, no?

  14. Well - you're all welcome along to our party. Meet on the corner of Prince's St and Hanover St at about 10pm and we'll take it from there.
  15. Continuing the recent theme of old bands reuniting for gigs..... If anyone is interested: December 18th... Scala, London..... ...EMF!!! http://www.scala-london.co.uk/scala/event.php?id=760
  16. The problem with insuring minority cars like ours is that any affect in the market can have a bigger swing on insurance prices. Consider my car, for example. There's so few like it in the UK that I wouldn't be surprised if each individual write off of someone elses directly affected my insurance! That said, you have a point about the 10-week thing. I suspect that the "refund" amount is probably a red herring - who knows how mid-term quotes are calculated!? Definitely worth giving them a call - whilst the initial quotes are driven by scary computer algorithms, they (the "proper" insurance companies, not the far-east-call-centre ones) nearly always have authority to negotiate better deals (ie. "override" the computer algorithms with more realistic quotes) - that's why most of these companies come up with silly quotes to start with (from the computer-generated numbers), but can usually bring their prices down to match their competitors.
  17. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?p=1689726#post1689726 Sorry for the link - bored of typing the same explanation out each time someone complains about their insurance going up.

    Nuts!!

Nuts and fruit are "good for you" in the same way that olive oil is "good for you". You should eat nuts and fruit instead of chocolate in the same way that you should use olive oil instead of lard. ie. just use a little bit now and again. Eating a whole bag of nuts is the health equivalent of chugging half a litre of olive oil: it's a healthy food, but you're only supposed to have a little of it! I tend to have to stay away from nuts. I love 'em, but I can't stop eating 'em!
  20. ...the diffs, on the other hand......
  21. How come you're going back from Evo to Supra, Jamie? Thought you were loving the Evo?
