  1. Great offer and arrived double-quick. Cheers, Oilman!
  2. For scheduled-carrier flights, try BMI or Qatar Airways.

    0-60

LOL - no. Sorry. Would be true if all cars had linear acceleration. But they don't. Imagine an extreme scenario: Car 1 pulls away, increasing speed by 10mph/s. After 6 seconds, he is travelling at 60mph, at an average speed of 30mph. (this is the - altered for simplicity - N/A M-Coupe) Car 2 has no power at low speed, so in the first 5s, he is still only doing 10mph. At that point his power kicks in and delivers immense power, accelerating him from 10mph to 60mph in one second flat. (this is the - exagerated again - twin turbo Supra!) Over the 6s second period, the car only averaged 10mph. So 6 seconds later, both cars are now doing 60mph (they have the same 0-60 time), but the first car travelled about 80m and the second car only 27m. C'mon - this is basic physics!

    0-60

Is 0-60 time actually a useful metric for anything at all? It's not even really related to actual distance covered - my Supra was doing about 5s 0-60 - almost identical to a friend's BMW M-Coupe, but the M-Coupe covered a damn sight more ground in that time. We would both be hitting 60 in 5s, but he would be comfortably ahead of me.
  5. Looks like a realistic price to me.
  6. Says "Full converted to UK spec". Do you really believe that? Think they changed the tubbies too?
  7. Tidy, but J-Spec (and expensive IMO). I believe you'll need the lights and seatbelts converting. Something to do with the labels on them, I think.
  8. Phew. I was going to ask that, but thought I might sound ignorant!
  9. Looks tidy, but pricey. Do you have a specific reason to go for a UK Spec over a Jap Spec?
  10. Yep - this one caught me out with the Aristo once too!
  11. Went to the Popham Little Chef last night. Pretty much what I'd expected: Nothing earth-shattering, but pretty good food for the money. The menu is mostly your usual kind of stuff: fish & chips, spag bol, pie, etc. but all seemed pretty good quality. I was impressed that the breakfast (which now claims to all be decent-quality ingredients, according to the menu) still comes in under £7. I picked the most interesting thing I could find on the menu - ox cheeks (cooked in red wine for 3 days, apparently), which I was very happy with indeed. Vicki had a steak and ale pie that was a bit more run-of-the-mill. Very good kids menu, which stayed away from the usual processed cr*p. Staff were pretty friendly and did seem noticably more attentive than your usual service-station crew. Only recognised two of them, tho' Overall: would happily stop there again, and probably make a bit of effort to schedule it in as a stop, mainly down to the top-notch kid-friendliness.
  12. If it's any consolation, you're not the only one - having a nightmare month here too! Two kitchen appliances broken last week (finally got new fridge installed today - thankfully a bucket of snow was actually a pretty good stand-in), now just discovered that there's a leak in the exterior mains pipe somewhere. February sucks the big one
  13. Yep. My user title appears different to everyone else. Only you can see this post.
  14. 'fraid so. This one predates the internet itself!

    Carter USM

Any fans here? No? See you in November?

  17. True - it's pretty fugly, but looks were never high on my list. If they were, (a) I wouldn't be looking at estates and (b) I wouldn't have swapped the Supra for an Aristo
  18. Cheers! Is there a good solution that still allows the loft space to be usable for storage? What about putting cross-joists for the second layer of insulation (although that's already starting to be a pain in the a**e)?
  19. I was wondering about going to have a look at this one.
