  1. There is no question that the best game track of all time is..... .....Megablast by Bomb The Bass from Xenon 2. Out Run soundtrack is also a good call, Ian. Some Speccy classiscs for me were from the games: - Milk Race - Turbo Esprit - Ping Pong
  2. Some good tracks there, Tann - particularly loving the Penguin Cafe Orchestra! Saw Penguin Cafe Orchestra play Union Chapel in Islington in 2007 (a 10-year anniversary of Simon Jeffes death) and it was amazing. The band, having not played many of the tunes for many years, were largely close to tears themselves and also provided some beautiful anecdotes between pieces. One of the most atmospheric concerts I've had the privilege to experience.
  3. This is my favourite kite surfing vid.
  4. L-Reg Silver heading towards Guildford from Godalming. Gave you a flash from behind!
  5. Nice imagery. I've noticed in many areas of life that the ongoing financial crisis appears to be causing a lot more people to feel "out of control" of their lives and I think this fuels a lot of the conspiracy theories that all seem to be re-surfacing in conversations everywhere at the moment. Personally, I think the onus really has to be on the G20 to come up with something that actually evokes support from the various populace in order to quell peoples' fears. That's a tough challenge for the most loyal of populations, but in the face of good old British cynicism, I reckon it's next to impossible!
  6. So that's 110k km + 35k miles, yes (hence 145k reading) ? 110k km = 68,350 miles, so your car's actually at about: 68,350 + 35,000 = 103,350 miles (even if it had never been converted, 145,000km would be about 90,000 miles)
  7. 'fraid the highly dodgy maths gives the prank away!
  8. I played "Invasion Force" on the TRS-80 until the keyboard broke. 4-player "Base Jumpers" on the Amiga was about the best game ever. What I want to know is what happened to the days when you could make a game about damn near anything? Delivering newspapers, collecting dustbins, rescuing a girl from a barrel-throwing gorilla, a round yellow thing eating dots, a frog crossing a river, etc. As soon as gaming platforms gained the abiliy to create a virtual 3d world, and game designers ceased having to come up with abstract representations, all sense of imagination in game design seemed to evaporate faster than you could say "real physics engine".
  9. I agree. It's crazy - this is a great car. If this is any precedent to go by, I'd have a hard time giving mine away!

    Karting

'nother vote for Buckmore here. Great circuit. However, I have discovered the only real way to do karting is in 2-strokes. We did an event at Buckmore arranged with Club 100 and it's like nothing I've done before. Forget the twin-engined pro-karts - this is real, sphincter-clenching, get-this-corner-wrong-and-I'm-actually-gonna-die stuff.
  12. Poker, especially Texas Hold 'Em, is a highly luck-oriented game. Stick with it while you still enjoy playing, Jake - it goes around and it comes around. When you find that you hate the losing more than you enjoy the winning, then it's time to give up!
  13. I'm guessing that's an interest only loan. Oh - and H - apart from the 12 monthly payments, there's no tie in on the Barclays account at all. You can even withdraw within the 12 months, I believe - but you lose the interest if you do.
  14. Adam was born during quite a long labour with the cord wrapped round his neck - during pushing, his heart rate was dropping quite low. When he came out, they had to resuscitate him as he went a few seconds without oxygen. He is now 2.5yrs old, happy, energetic and one of the brightest kids in his nursery group. Hope that helps!
  15. Yeah - why isn't eBay just free for everyone? Paying for stuff sucks! For example.....food! Don't get me started on that! Do you know how much the supermarket charges me just to buy food? Thieving gits! Food should be free!
  16. You're right - charities essentially just provide a voluntary, targetted tax/benefit system that redistributes money in the same way government taxes and benefits do. Think of charity as a way of YOU getting to decide how much tax to pay and YOU deciding who should benefit from it. There is no reason this couldn't be a government activity, but there's no reason it necessarily should be a government activity either......
  17. In the traffic near the A30 junction.
  18. Have to spread your money around, but there are some okay deals out there. I opened a Barclays savings account a couple of months ago which pays 6% AER (max £250/month deposit for max 12 months) - works out better than overpaying on my mortgage at the moment!
  19. Hard to say - Japan went for about 20 years with 0% interest to help them out of their recession, didn't they? But it only really helps those that are on lifetime trackers, because the limited-term tracker will mostly expire within the next 3 years or so, and it's not like lenders are going to be offering new low-rate tracker mortgates!

    Wtf

In The Night Garden struck me as kind of blend of Teletubbies and The Prisoner.
