  1. Clifford alarm here, fitted by our very own Dragon in the Portsmouth area. Both alarm and installer very highly recommended!
  2. Worth asking. Further to this, were they actually new tyres? What's the manufacture date on them?
  3. Yeah - madibid.com is fundamentally a lottery not an auction site.
  4. They're not actually selling that cheaply, either - the 360 and the PS3 have both taken much, much longer to come down in price than their corresponding predecessors.
  5. Originally, yes. I suspect a 13-year old car will have lost an amount of this. Neil's, above. for example, was ~200hp including a cat-back. Not sure what losses are on the Supra over time - 220 down to ~190 (about 13%) is probably pretty typical. Our cars are getting pretty old now
  6. Sounds familiar! Just kiddin' with ya! Merry Christmas!
  7. Work. Work. Work. All this turkey isn't going to eat itself, you know!

From peoples' experiences on here, I would normally expect that to be good for a bit over 400, but it may be different with a VVTi - I'd be really interested to see a real dyno readout if you have (or get) one. 17s will be definitely be better for handling than 19s. I believe 17s were standard on the UK models (many of the Jap cars came out of the factory with even smaller - 16s on!). If big rims are your thing, it really depends how much of the look you're willing to compromise in order to improve the handling - it's certainly worth being honest with yourself about how much you're really going to be throwing it about before you decide - I always liked to believe that I needed to optimise the handling for real driving-at-the-limit, when in reality I generally drive like a total granny! Either way round, like others have suggested, a proper geo set-up is money VERY well spent. Hope it works out for you!

C'mon then - enlighten us - what else have you had done, mate - I'm intrigued to know where you got the extra power from? oh - and back on topic! As Gaz said - if you're really serious about getting the best handling out of the car, I would lose the 19" wheels for a start.

At BPU? No - you're not.

  12. But the whole point is that can only ever be speculation - there are, and never will be, any hard evidence saying what effect 7billion humans with modern industry will have on the climate. It will only ever be theory and speculation. So by your argument, we would never do anything about it until it was too late. As for the government's "definitive conclusions", they had to decide one way or the other, didn't they? If they had decided to do nothing about it, then surely the same argument applies in reverse: "There is no firm evidence that man's activities do not have an effect on global climate change."
  13. Errr - but the whole point is that the tax increases would stop/reduce you using your cars/aeroplanes/trains/phones/internet/lights/fridges/sex toys - we really need to start considering these sort of things as luxuries again, rather than the commodoties they have become. How the government then uses this money is a separate matter (one would hope that it gets fed into other ecological projects). Personally, I'm actually all for just letting things continue as is - it will sort itself out ultimately. Billions will suffer in the process, but I believe that's going to happen anyway with the crazy over-population we have at the moment..... if it's not from global warming, it'll be from starvation. We're reasonably immune here in the UK - the only real bit that's in danger is Norfolk!
  14. Are you sure?? You think that most scientists believe that man's activities are not having any effect on the global climate? My take was that whilst there are several outspoken scientists who believe this, it was still the case that the vast majority of the scientific community, including the majority of experts in the field believed that man was causing a noticable effect that would be worth action to prevent. Is this not the case?
  15. Yep - we appreciate that you'd like hard-and-fast scientific proof that the proposals will have a meaningful effect on global warming. However, I suspect that the ultimate truth is that we will never have absolute proof one way or the other, so surely the point is that if there is a decent chance that we should be making changes to help (as most scientists seem to believe), then it is surely worth pursuing. If they are right, then we can't wait until every maverick scientist, lone dis-believer or consiparcy-theorist blogger is convinced before we do anything, because that will never happen! To be honest - your OP actually comes across mainly as a complaint about having to pay taxes rather than truly being concerned with the science behind it (I'm guessing this is not the case with you, but I think that's how it will look to many).....and I do appreciate your concerns - there WILL be corrupt people profitting out of this for sure - but isn't that the case with pretty much everything these days?
  16. Checking the rear number plate bulbs are working before an MOT, obviously......
  17. Seems quite obvious to me - he's re-grouting the window. What's the problem?
  18. I still believe the world is flat. These "scientists" and their so-called "theories" are just trying to create a money-grabbing, globe-selling scam.
  19. If you value your Supra at £5k, I don't think I'd expect this to be a straight swap. The way Aristos are selling at the moment, only £6k would probably get you a MkII (1998 VVTi), so I'd expect to get a VERY nice '95 MkI for £5k.
  20. The 30% lower salary is only for new staff. Existing staff are facing a 2-year pay freeze. I think the main complaint is about the change made back in November to reduce long-haul staffing from 15 crew to 14, so the remaining crew have to do something like 15% more work on those flights. To be honest, with or without this strike or these changes, BA are looking right up sh*t creek anyway. Walsh is doing well to hang on to his job at the moment!

    bored.... So

One of the best computer games ever was only available on the Amiga....."Base Jumpers". 4-player platform game which would also drop into mini-games which were multiplayer versions of classic arcade games (eg. might get a quick game of Joust, where the winner gets a bonus life in the main game, etc.). Unfortunately, unless someone can find a copy of the manual, the downloadable game rip for the emulator can only be played to the end of the first level, then you hit the "enter word X, page Y from the manual" copy protection.
  22. Nah - I was just wondering how you afford it - I'd never have been able to spend that much cash out at your age. Good job!
  23. That's an insane amount to spend on insurance. If you don't mind me asking, do you still live with your parents?

Because lots of other people in your demographic(s) have. Simples.
  25. If you're thinking of making something, pickles/chutneys are always good around Christmas. With some nice cheese. Yum.
