1. This. I'm not normally one for foil hat wearing but this one, just days before the end of the year looks like WAY too much of a coincedence to me too.
2. What sort of mileage are you doing? If you're genuinely after 240+ hp, I'd be seriously tempted to drop the purchase cost to around the £20k mark and bank the rest of the cash to spend on petrol & running costs. But maybe that's just me?

Got a new pet

Well - okay - but YOU have to be the one getting up every morning to feed it and take it for walkies.......
4. I've been investing heavily in Brazilian butterfly farms.
5. How did Darth Vader know what Luke had got him for Christmas? Because he felt his presence.
6. Ozrics is a great shout. Hats off to you, sir!
7. Tricky. I don't really think in terms of best bands - usually best songs or maybe albums if I must: 1) The Blue Aeroplanes 2) The Stone Roses 3) Teenage Fanclub 4) Ned's Atomic Dustbin 5) Blur
8. In the private sector, it's all justifiable - if you don't justify your salary, you don't keep your job. Simple as that. Public sector, this becomes a much more interesting question, as you have to balance the salary against the value to society. In this regard you can clearly see some issues with salary/value comparisons (eg. nurses?). Wouldn't like to guess what the person with the "highest" value to society is..... although I don't like it (and I'll probably get flamed to death for saying it!) the correct answer is probably senior politicians. To explain - I think the current political process is too heavyweight, beaurocratic, corrupt and expensive, and we probably all think we could do a better job, but I suspect that it's not true when it comes down to it - the good politicians who put the work in and manage to get things done despite the process are probably the pinnacle of true value to society. Personally - I believe that the top politicians are probably underpaid in truth. They earn many, many time less than their private sector counterparts - I think it would be fascinating if characters such as Richard Branson and Willie Walsh were in politics..... but I don't think they'd accept the massive pay cut!

Number 7

Seven, mate! Ever thought you should maybe see somebody about your problem??
10. Nobody except Ford will be putting in heated front screens in their cars for some time yet, because they would have to pay Ford to be allowed to do it. Hurray for patents.
11. Khajit has no words for you. But if you bring Khajiit some moon sugar, Khajiit will be your friend.
12. Skyrim is definitely on my letter for Santa.
13. Enough with these lady-scented products. I'm on a horse.

Credit Cards

Common recommendation is to have 3 months' of household income sat in some form of instant- or quick-access savings. I've found that this sort of buffer not only generates a little bit of money in earnings (although it's tough to keep up with inflation on most easy-access investments), but most importantly gives you an invaluable feeling of comfort and confidence. THAT should be your emergency fund, rather than relying on access to credit.
15. Crikey, Chris - at your age isn't it about time you knocked this ornithology lark on the head?
16. EVERYBODY. LOVES. JUMPING. UP AND DOWN. IN. MUDDY PUDDLES. Get with the program. Night Garden is just odd. It's basically a mash up of "Teletubbies" and "The Prisoner". With hoopoes.
17. Think I'll just wait a couple weeks for Skyrim.
18. Maxi Cosi Tobi here too (back when I had a Supra. And an 11-month old)
19. 5 minute walk from my work in Blyth Road, this.

REM split up

I guess for a lot of fans it's the end of the world as they know it (but I feel fine).
21. 4x4 doesn't make much difference down this end of the country. Whether you get grip or not doesn't stop you getting stuck nose-to-tail on the M25 for 6 hours because someone else can't.
22. Congrats, fella. But as mentioned - still very, very early days (we have 2 kids from 5 pregnancies). 12-week scan time is normally the time to really be planning. Take it easy and best of luck for the next few weeks (months and years)!
23. I went to a zoo. There were no animals there except a single dog. It was a shih tzu.
24. I approve of the many comments that we don't know what we don't know. In 1900 they had no idea what life would be like in the year 2000: That said, I would weigh that up against the fact that with the (suggested) age of the universe so far - if it IS technologically possible within the physical laws of the universe - why has no other civilisation in the universe has found a way to communicate with (or travel to) humans on Earth (again - I am making what I believe is a pretty sound assumption that they haven't - I'm not a believer in genuine alien UFOs or Area 51 conspiracy theories, I'm afraid!) ?
