    Limp-home mode

Paranoid question.... VVTI limp-home mode....sometimes this happens after driving on boost, or in heavy traffic where its not easy to stop and turn ignition off and on again (fixes it far a day or so) straight away....Does driving when in limp-home do any harm to the engine or ancilliaries ?

    Dirty thread

"he posted the words 'flappy flange flaps' in a way that implied he was determined not to act his age"
  11. Anyone heard the urban legend about police being called by people who'd seen a car go off the road into some trees...they turned up and searched but there were no signs of a recent crash. Eventually though, they spotted a rusty wreck of a car with a decomposed body in it, obviously been there for a few years......

for sale price and sold price are not necessarily related
  13. What, other than spending all night on here ? I live for my fish, and I collect Georgian drinking glasses and decanters. I have to fan my flies if I see an engraved Newcastle baluster-stem at auction.

  16. My wife, my two kids (17 and 18 at the time) and I had to go to Grimsby (640 mile round trip) for a funeral, and 20 miles from home the car broke down...AA towed us back home, and we re-loaded into the Supe. We stopped once, and did it in just over five hours. I had my knees against the dashboard all the way, Son was in the front, lasses in the back. No problems whatsoever (he said rather unconvincingly)

  18. Cool site....I want to see a ghost, I do.
  19. Does the scheme allow you to buy secondhand ? There be bargains ahoy, aaarrrrh. If you want new, Giant do some excellent packages re value for money. The bike shop at West Parley (near Haskins) stock Giant as well as others. Our company has a similar scheme going, but cycling to work is sooo not me:)
  20. A lot of choice at that price James....have you decided what sort of bike you need ? Full suspension or front shocks and hard tail ? Do you want a lightweight cross-country or a heavier free-style / downhillish one ? Theres a lot of top end brands that make each type, so its a bit of a minefield....Specialized / Kona / Scott / Orange I like myself, but theres loads more. The Bike Lab in Poole (near the Dolphin Centre, opposite Barclays House) is a good place to spend an hour, and the guys there are very knowledgable. My biggest tip is to put as much money as possible into the frame choice, next the drive train, next the brakes. That is, when deciding what offers the best value for money spec wise, remember that you can up-grade the ancilliaries later as and when, but the frame is the most expensive bit. http://www.evanscycles.com/ good place to start You can have mine for £3 k, Ive a bad knee.
