  1. I asked the guy that question, he said it was feasible (he was well aware of the E1 - TE1 paperclip trick on older ports) but he said there were 'risks' to try it on a OBDII port. He left that one up to me...... Im willing to try it, but I would like to know what harm it could do first ? Also, my ECU is clear of faults at the mo...so the best I will get (if Im brave enough to try) is a steady blink. I assume this will still prove it works..... Unless theres others out there braver than me
  2. Retro done well. Absolutely nut-tighteningly gorgeous. As for the wheels, what do I know about nice wheels:)
  3. Im hot, headached up the ass and I cant find a thread:( It contained information about the Throttle Position Sensor mounting, specifically that it can be rotated + or - a few degrees when mounting which affected the current or resistance (sorry tech guys) it may hold information I would kiss for.
  4. Steady now:) Its worth mentioning that this guy Pete actually tried two types of OBDII diagnostics machines on the true OBDII port....the first one (his favorite one) came up with a communication error, the second one (his last-chance saloon one) got straight in there.
  5. Well, assuming its not the TPS itself, as that was replaced last year, it certainly looks like the APP or possibly a fault in the signals they both receive. £500 is a lot of money, but shit, if it fixes this for good Im happy. I'll drive it around and get another error code reading first though. Better not go BPU till its fixed:)
  6. On my car, its right next to the bonnet release, clearly marked OBDII...so clearly that I never knew it was there. See pic below...note, it was photoed in a mirror ! You can also see the third circular port which is not connected.
  7. Since last post, fault has occurred every day except one. Same symptoms. Today I took car to Pete Twomley, a one-man band at Formula 1 Auto Electrics in Bournemouth (as recommended by Triton). I've actually got three diagnostic ports. One on the engine (minus TE1 connection), a circular one under the dashboard which has various connections including E1 and TE1 BUT has no wires connected to it, and a third, true OBDII port right next to the boot release lever(see pic below). After no-go with the engine port, he successfully obtained these two codes... P1120 Throttle / Pedal Position Sensor / Switch A Circuit Malfunction P1121 Throttle / Pedal Position Sensor / Switch A Circuit Range / Performance Problem He seemed happy due to the Toyota specific prefix 1. The last three digits tie-in with the (SAE J2012) OBDII codes and fault descriptions that Alex gave me....they also re-affirm my garages diag. last year. Genuine or not, they certainly could apply to my specific problem. He cleared the ECU so that he can re-read any error code that comes up in the next few days.
  8. I've actually got three diagnostic ports. One on the engine (minus TE1 connection), a circular one under the dashboard which has various connections including E1 and TE1 BUT has no wires connected to it, and a third, true OBDII port under the dashboard. Ive just come back from the guy after he successfully obtained two Toyota specific error codes. Im going to update the thread linked below to keep all this in one place.... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=45814&highlight=TPS So if a mod would like to delete this thread, please do.
  9. Dont get the Vauxhall one with the odd looking bloke in black who looks like he's cruising for young boys... Or the vampire one with extremely sticky tyres
  10. Thanks so far guys.
  11. Didnt know there was one in the cabin Alex:(
  12. Just had a specialist try to read an error code. There is a problem with my diagnostics port....it doesnt have a TE1 pin (see pics). The guy (who has only seen this a couple of times before on Jap imports) is unaware of anyone who could connect to the port. He also says that its not an OBDII port full stop, and not really an OBDI port either. Anyone come across this, if so, any ideas who could extract an error code using this port ?
  13. Yup the wheels...you called them nasty, I said they looked like Veilside Andrew Bacarats. We both agree they are not nice.
  14. They resemble Andrew Baccarats but then again, maybe not:)
  15. Are they genuine Vielside ? Not nice.
  16. Hello and welcome O pleased as punch type one:)
  17. Youd think Rooney would know it was the Queen by now...hes been told so many times
  18. Second that. Baiter Park public slip is closer to the open sea (once you are past the Sandbanks chain ferry) but it can be a free for all getting out. Insurance / Habour Permit / Tide-Times / mobile phone...have fun:) Oh, and some slips have a drop-off at the end, so if you come back at low tide, youl have fun getting her back out.
  19. Did he do the mattress trick ? Jane said it was spectacular how much dirt there was on our mattress, considering it was only two weeks old. Con ?
  20. My wife once made the fatal mistake of letting a Kirby (£1,500 US vacuum cleaner as I remember) salesman in to demonstrate the thing. He had been there for two hours before I got home and had 'demonstrated' it all over the house. As soon as he saw me, he wanted to do it all over again saying my wife was extremely impressed and interested. Jane blinked and said 'I didnt say that !' to which he replied 'excuse me, but I think you did'. Cheekey get. He was out on his ass a couple of minutes later, but came back after ten minutes and asked if Jane could fill in his calling sheet with a few nice comments...so she did:d
  21. Thats what I said....thirty-seventeen. Sound a lot better doesnt it:) Just noticed you are actually 25. So its just me thats 47 then. Bum.
  22. im not exactly taking this seriously myself, my fellow thirty-seventeen year old
  23. looks like it was taken yesterday
