  2. I'm not exactly volunteering here, but in light of James holiday, and hence the AbFlab no-show, who's still up for a Sept meet ? Looking at the cans and cants so far, the obvious date is Sunday the 17th Sept. Venue can be fine-tuned as you post.... 1. Ewen
  3. Maybe it has been done before but its worth another thread:) Dad went to the same school as Jim Clark (FTBO younger members, a famous F1 driver) and was also good friends with Gordon Honeycombe (newsreader / author / gaeneologist). As I've posted before, I lived on Holy Island as a kid, and witnessed the making of both Culdesac and Macbeth by Roman Polanski. The cast and crew of Culdesac stayed on the Island and either Donald Pleasance or Lionel Stander (Max off Hart to Hart) lodged with us. They came to my sixth birthday party and I think I remember sitting on Polanskis knee, and I remember a blonde woman who I assume was Francoise Dorleac. Stander drove a great big Continental around, which was slightly larger than Dads Beetle as I remember. The cast of Macbeth didnt seem to be around much. I meet quite a few famous people through my work, one of the funniest was Nigel Mansell, one of the hardest to please was Steffi Graaf and the 'most unlikely guy to go drinking in a Winchester Pub' was the King of Spain.
  4. I remember also seeing a Handley Page Victor when I was young, not sure if it was still an active bomber or converted to a tanker though. Dad told me how much of an impression the Valliant had made before that but nothing compared to the Vulcan.
  5. My wife thought the bit where the petrol station owner shot his head off was particularly well done...an excellent piece of movie making. She also expressed enlightened suprise as to just how much blood a budgie contained.
  6. Responsible for f******g both Port Stanley Airfield and Mrs. Spock. Bizarre but true.
  7. Not a patch on the original IMO.....too much gore not enough atmosphere. Still, it earned me a cuddle from the traumatised wife, and son paid for the rental.
  8. I'm hopeless...I have a shortlist of body bits and wheels listed in order of favorite. It changes almost daily, cant settle on owt and usually find something I like more everytime I log on here....then again, I catch my Supra in a certain light, or angle and I think it looks just great as is. The Type R spoiler was going to go, then I started to like it then again I love Supras without (sans) any spoiler at all. Same with the colour...
  9. When I was an apprentice, we had a great big tea-urn called Maisie for some reason. It was totally caked in tannin and old tea leaves, and was only ever scooshed with water, never cleaned properly. Whoever dared to try would aparently die a horrible death. Usually drunk from a tin mug, it was the best tea I've ever had.
  10. My tea intake is via a steady intravenous drip...currently set at one pint per hour as I'm nice and relaxed reading another of Supragals interesting posts. Deadlines and stress dictate upping the intake to something like a pint a minute, but then I run the risk of tea-leaves clogging the tubing. Not good.
