  1. Heard good things about them too..friend has just had a lot of work on his GTO done, I think they are looking to do more marques. Again its a good few miles from me - Falmouth, that said I really think there is a shortage of in my area so may have to go further afield, thank you!
  2. Iv had it for a few years..just dont get out much will definately make my way to the next..once iv sorted the paintwork, bloody sea air!
  3. Yeah Iv heard good things about them too..AP motors too, just really wanted to keep it more local (falmouth) Thank you tho!
  4. Just wondering if anyone uses and recommends any garages/mechanics in cornwall, only looking for servicing work but want to use someone that actually knows the cars.... Thanks
  5. Its a TT...no engine warning lights/codes etc. Has been smelling rich for sometime on start up but idling has been healthy...coilpacks known to work themself loose?
  6. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, had a look at the search and all the other misfire problems happened at different times to mine... On start up when the engine is cold it's definitely running on 5/4 cylinders (sounding like a Subaru), the smoke from the exhaust is thick and the fuelling smells very rich. Then as the automatic choke lowers idle and the engine warms up its fine, drives with no problems. The first time was Last night and it did it again this morning, misfire only lasting for a minute or so.... Is it simply the start of the plugs going? Thanks
  7. Girlfriend is looking for a new mobile (pink probably ) and needs it to have txt and call blocking feature for certain mobile numbers...hmmm hopefully not her subtle way of getting rid of me. She has called Samsung and none of the new ones have it..just wondering if anyone knows if their phone has it and can recommend the phone aswell.. Thanks
  8. Another slow Monday led me onto the tinternet... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/EDITORIAL/slideshow/staticslideshow.html?folder_name=sultan_of_brunei_cars&total_image=105&image_start_name=brunei_cars_&caption=Sultan%20of%20Brunei%20the%20cars&pageNumber=49&hitboxtag=Sultan_of_Brunei_the_cars_show_page_49&hitboxcap=editorial_slideshow_back_page&slidePageType=features ...some amazing looking cars on there, some...strange ones too!
  9. Thats exactly what happened, as i hit 4000 rpm on the bypass, boost kicked in and all those lights came on including the turbo timer...had enough power to get back home and get parked. I had it diagnosed by an auto electrician as the diode pack 'packed' up but he couldnt get the parts through his contacts, another company was the same so got hold of Steve Manley, around £61 including delivery from Japan and VAT so am very pleased! ...im not electrically minded so will cost £20+ Vat for it fitting and then i can fit it back into the car
  10. Rectifier pack ordered through Steve Manley, very nice chap, good price too! didnt realise they were such a pain to get hold of - having to come from Japan... Highly recommend speaking to Steve for any OEM parts.
  11. Thank you Chris Does anyone have the name and contact details of the chap on here that works for toyota?
  12. Good condition or possibly refurbed. For a J-spec TT Auto. Alternatively if anyone knows where I can get the correct diode pack so mine can be refurbed that would be very helpful. Thanks
  13. Just seeing if you think its the alternator thats packed up before i spend on buying one! ... Had a slight squeal at around 900rpm, below on warm idle it is fine and accelerating its fine too. This was happening since a week or so after the MOT. Checked all belts etc and they seemed fine, not a bad sound so did not chase any further as I only do 100 miles a month if im lucky.... ...Driving to the gym one nite it was struggling a little on full boost and it didnt feel quite the same, as though the throttle body pipework had popped off and the boost guage had stopped working. Pulled over and pipework was all fine including the boost guage piping (think the guage has just given up coincidently)... ...After the gym driving back it still felt a little sluggish and on a the by-pass i put my foot down to get a hopeful response, turbo's wound up but as it hit 4000rpm the ignition lights came on and the turbo timer countdown.. I was going to pull over but was close to home and didnt want to stop and get stuck where I was so made it back, as I stopped to reverse in the engine struggled and died, no power to start again we wheeled it into the space... ...with no ignition it appeared to be the battery was flat so hooked it up to my other car and let the battery build up, ignition was on but it really didnt want to start, letting it charge a little more we noticed smoke from the Alternator bushes so disconnected it... ...Deciding to take the battery inside to charge i noted a few spots of liquid on top i assumed it was water from the bonnet but as i carried it more came out of the cell..squeezing the sides was a big mistake as it shot battery acid a couple of feet onto my friends trousers... ...The battery was new for MOT a few months earlier so I took it back and exchanged it. New new battery now in there was some more smoke from the bushes, disconnecting it again and waiting for the smoke to dissapear I tried again and no smoke..the car started fine but was struggling a little round 550 rpm but yet again the ignition lights were all still on and with some revving it stalled a couple of times (car had been sat for a couple of weeks since it last started) Starting it later that day it started fine and warmed up to tick over at 700-750 rpm and revving it seemed fine but the ignition lights still on... ...and that brings me up to today, just wondering if it sounds like a failing Alternator or something else?? Sorry for the very long story but I see a lot of people on here as Doctors of the Supra and wanted to give them a full story for diagnosis!! Thanks
