  1. Have the disc run-out checked with a DTI (dial test indicator) as per the info (below) in DSK's link - although the maximum run-out should read 0.05mm
  2. OK, thanks anyway. I'm probably just over-cautious, but I'd really prefer to stick to a Toyota part for the air filter - even though I suppose it's possible they're actually made in the same factory!
  3. Is the 'brand new stock paper panel filter' a genuine Toyota part? If so, I'd go for that.
  4. For a brand new bonnet you'd be looking at around £700.
  5. Very nearly bought one of those myself to use as a PAS cooler and I imagine it would have been ok. I did however manage to get hold of a cheap, good, s/h auto transmission cooler from a Supra and used that instead. I had to make a couple of brackets out of some ally strip, but that didn't take long. Mounted it where it would have been on an auto. Turned out ok in the end - although it may be a bit of overkill for PAS.
  6. The £499.95 works out at £574.94 with the VAT. I should hope it's a good bit more than just a FCD!
  7. WD40 is primarily a water repellent and would dry out. I can't see any problem using a bit of grease on the threads instead of Copperslip. That said, I also tend to use Copperslip. I remember having to drive down the hard shoulder of the motorway with a flat tyre because I couldn't undo wheel nuts (threads hadn't been lubricated). Fortunately it was only in a Fiat Panda, so the replacement wheel and tyre weren't very expensive.
  8. Shouldn't the begging letters be given priority in front of paying off debts? ...by the way, is PM ok for the sob story?
  9. According to an Engineer at Scorpion, these alarms really don't like being re-connected to the battery. It's at this point that they are most likely to fail. I had mine re-programmed once by Scorpion (the button re-sync alone would not do it) which cost about £25. The second time it failed, Scorpion claimed they no longer had the equipment to re-programme it. As I said, good luck.
  10. If the above doesn't work, then unfortunately it's going to be a new alarm. Scorpion, the company who originally made the Toyota 5000 alarm, no longer support that model; apparently it's too old for them to bother with. Unfortunately I ended up having to install a new alarm. Good luck.
  11. This may take a bit of beating: £155 fully comp including protected no claims. ...but then again, I am going on for double 26.
  12. Probably averaged under 1k per year over the last few years. Used to be about 7k per year. I've now owned the car for almost 8 years, but initially I only intended to keep it for 2 years. It has now become a little used, expensive garage orniment.
  13. If you want them fairly quick, then you could get them from your local Toyota dealer. Prices on here and here. The UK £ price (inc VAT) will work out at around 2/3 of the $ price shown.
  14. The aircon compressor on a TT and a NA are the same part number: 88320-14600
  15. Re. plastic ECU cover How about £10 delivered?
  16. How much for the standard plastic ECU cover? I've really no idea what it's worth either...
  17. ksbkrew, did you get this replaced ok in the end? Chris, when you say it's structural, I take it you mean from just the point of view of supporting the radiator? The centre part of mine is starting to go (no where near approaching the radiator falling out, fortunately) and I'm thinking about welding a bit of fabricated sheet steel in to replace the rusting part - or even getting a decent section out of a scrapper and replacing the whole of the middle part, rather than trying to get the whole lot changed. It seems an easier solution - at least to me. Believe it or not, buying the new SMIC off you started this little project. Thought I'd replace the aircon condenser at the same time, only to find out that the radiator didn't look too clever. Then I discovered the rusty cross member...
  18. No, this is Supercar. (Many of you may be to young to remember this!)
