A recent thread got me thinking How many people on this forum solely use their car for track or don’t mind taking their car onto a track? I know we have a Supra Group for track cars but no one has updated it for ages. So I thought it would be good to get a new list of names for people who like tracking their cars. Then when one of us are going to a track perhaps we can PM/Email the list of people and see if we can get a few going to the same track day. If the numbers are good and there is sufficient interest then perhaps we may be able to arrange our own day in the future. Oh and you don't have to have a Supra to be on this list I know there are many members without Supra's which maybe interested in a track day or two.. To see where your closest members are in relation to the UK Tracks then please see This Map Example of what the map looks like The Track Day List - So far (As of 07/08/2013) 1. Manwithsupra - Hampshire (Southampton) 2. Hackin'n'bashin - Corby 3. John88 - Lancashire 4. Bignum - West Midlands 5. TT paul - Hampshire (Portsmouth) watching, driving 6. I'm exactly the same, I like modified cars but I am not into the "scene" either, I am more into Race car scene now. You would see me more if there were more track days arranged by the club, but there aren’t any and probably won’t be either as no one will commit to one. I find that quite strange as there are a number of cars on here which are solely used for track action. Don’t get me wrong though, I think meets are good and have been to quite a few local ones, I even arranged a few myself, However I was put off on the last one (not arranged by me) when a couple of members (which will remain nameless) came into the car park sideways, did a couple of doughnuts and made us all look like a bunch of bad mannered chavs. I haven’t been on one since (which is probably almost 2 years ago now).

You can’t really... well you can’t accurately. There are things like soot in the exhaust or sooty plugs, however even then looking at the plugs it’s not that accurate as it will only tell you how rich it is when you are idling not when you are using the car (unless you were to whip out a plug when going along - Not advisable) Running too rich is just as bad as running too lean. If you run too rich for extended periods you will get something called bore wash and you will wear you piston rings very quickly (Petrol is a thinner and therefore too much will remove the thin layer that oil your piston rings lay down on the cylinder walls). Get an AFR gauge and Sensor. -

Quick Update on my recent track day with the BMWCC at Silverstone. Well the weather at Silverstone was awful, so much so that it ended up cancelled. In the morning we had low lying fog and heavy rain, which meant we were delayed in starting, then when the sighting laps were done the rain just got even heavier and the morning session kept getting red flagged due to spins. The decision was then made to close the track early for lunch (11am - 12pm) to see if the rain would ease, however the conditions didnt and Silvertstone deemed it too dangerous to carry on, So unfortunately the day was cancelled. In a way it was very disappointing but then you have to be safe at these events. It was clearly way too wet to be safe and if you did go out you wouldnt be enjoying yourself. Silverstone have been fantastic and offered to re-run the day in november for people that paid and attended at zero charge as there was pretty much zero track time for everyone. I was sat in the garage all morning (I’m sat in the car). http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/148798_345972398829447_270872504_n.jpg It was a bit of a waste of petrol and hotel money but at least everyone stayed in one piece I will update when I attend in November. -

This, I also Co-Own a E36 328 which we are building for a track car. Chassis are very good, A lot of weight can be saved. Just by stripping the interior we saved over 50kg's, We still have to skin the doors, put a carbon roof on, perspex windows, carbon bonnet, plastic rear boot hatch, and nice 12 point weld in cage. Should make a nice little track car when we are done over winter. Here is the car after 2 hours of taking delivery http://sphotos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/426365_10151378999465112_370412642_n.jpg http://sphotos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/418046_10151378511405112_1533378601_n.jpg http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/431649_10151378510485112_1650558116_n.jpg Got loads more to do to it (all over winter). -
I havent driven one hard no, only a demonstrator.. I am sure that GTR's are fun to drive hard but I am not talking about hanging the tail out. I am talking about going around a corner fast. When you have done all the hard work in my opinion is far more fun and rewarding then letting a computer do it. And I agree you cannot compare the two, like I said Its like comparing Meat and Veg the only comparison is that they both are a car. The GTR is years ahead of the Supra... there is no comparison. I was not knocking the GTR's abilites I am just saying what I prefer. Still I am waiting in bated breath to find out what you are doing in yours
-
Now this is my opinion - Surely the Supra is more fun to drive...It’s a pretty basic car. Don’t get me wrong the new GTR is an amazing piece of machinery and technology and fair play to those who have moved on and got one, you are not going to be disappointed with it... it is clearly amazing and far more useable than the Supra.. and IMO comparing the two is like comparing Meat and Veg there are no real similarities other the fact they are both a car (like meat and veg are food). But consider this...It’s a sunny day you are hurtling into a corner either on a track or country road...what gives you more sense of achievement and therefore excitement? Grappling with a Supra on hard braking before turn in, feathering the throttle and making split second direction changes on the wheel when going through the bend, then to hammer the throttle whilst controlling the weight shift with the wheel on the way out of a corner. Or Turn in with a slight sense of excitement, letting the ECU handle the immense number of driver aids, and then hammering the throttle only for the ECU to tell you "nah... I will decide on what to do", yes you are probably quicker than the Supra but what leaves you with more sense of self achievement? Obviously this now can be changed with the likes of Ryan developing Syvecs ECU for the GTR you can claw back that excitement, more power, change the Traction control settings etc. But with a bog standard GTR on a track or country road I would take a Supra over it, it’s just more fun and surely that’s 50% of driving a fast car (some people it’s more).. You want to drive the car… Not be driven by it. This is my opinion though... You see I prefer Man vs Machine rather than Man vs Computer.

This, Unless its a stipped out track car it will look out of place..

It’s a shame we don’t have as many events when I first joined there were quite a few going on and now it’s very sporadic. I remember that there used to be a couple or more club track days a year that were always fully booked. Now its really hard to get people together to go to a easy local meet, never mind a large event.
-
Ah I would have loved this but Its way too far for me. I need to get a trailer and 4x4 sorted....
-
Eh what??? whats going on.. No honestly my wife would probably want to Join in (attached below) :innocent:

Ha I would love to but I doubt my wife will lol - I can only ask lol Mind you she would probably want to Join in....

Do you need any other Supra for a "shoot" If so then I volunteer my car.

Looking good mate, -
I got one of these, by far the best blanket out there.

Depends on how many track days. Personally IMO you should have some sort of roll cage if you go out on track full stop (Ideally a Weld in one). Speeds on a track far exceed that of the road and therefore you are more likely to have a serious smash. You may be driving well within your limits but that does not count for anyone else who could be gunning it lose control and collect you and then put you into a roll.
