  1. Hi all, A Little update on the car After every track day I do a major strip down on the car to make sure there are no seal failures, leaks, damage etc. The Goodwood Post track day strip down had shown up a couple of small issues (nothing too serious) one was that I found a small anmount of coolant on the floor when I raised the car up on the ramps. On inspection I could not find a leak anywhere on the car and the coolant level was good, even when the car had been run up to temperture there was nothing so the only thing I could think of is the pressure cap on the rad had let some pressure off. The biggest issue was that I had a small Transmission oil leak on my V160 Gearbox. It looked as if it was coming from the selector input shaft (which is a common problem) or it may have been coming from the Main Output shaft but it’s difficult to tell (as if the selector seal leaks it leaks over the output shaft). I decided to purchase both seals but first I set about looking at the Selector shaft as this one is the most common problem and the easiest to do. As you can see it was pretty wet up there so I am guessing this was the culprit. I used the following how to on replacing the seal but as my transmission tunnel is so much larger than a normal Supras it was easy to do this without removing the Propshaft And installed some temperature strips to get an idea on how hot the brakes are getting. For people who don’t know why I am doing this, here is a brief explanation, popping a temp strip on the calipers is to help with an Indication of how hot the brake fluid is and therefore making sure that it is in its operational range. It also helps in making sure I am not destroying the seals on the master cylinders and brake pistons... If it is too hot then it will tell me that I need to look at changing them after "x" amount of track sessions or after every track session etc. Hopefully I will be heading out on track on Monday (at goodwood again) if the replacement selector seal was the issue, Otherwise it will be the main ouput shaft seal and I may not have time to get it all done before Monday. Anyway just a quick update.
  2. I had one go on my V160 I used this place as they had stock and I was desperate... http://www.burrowstoyotaparts.co.uk/supra-turbo-uk-spec-1993-1996-clutch-release-cylinder-31470-14060-i3019.html
  3. That looks epic I was thinking this in general is something this club could really do with having on an annual basis. I wouldnt mind spending £17-£20 an a MKIVsupra Annual coving the big events, meets, shows, members cars, projects etc. Would certiantly raise the profile of the club somewhat (Although I am not saying it needs raising). Oh I will also have one too please
  4. Looks like you all had a great time, Will be looking forward to the footage
  5. Pm me your email address and I will forward it on I wont post it on here as you can only use the code once.
  6. Have you got a VAT free code?? If you dont then I have a spare code you can have.
  7. Looks like you had a good day I was thinking about you on the friday when it was pouring down here thinking I hope he manages to get out on track, I am glad it cleared up for you. Nice videos too by the way - you were lucky to keep it out of the barrier on that spin
  8. I would suggest reading the advice guide found here... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?67644-What-to-check-when-buying-a-Supra Even though some of the document is specific for a TT the same principles can be used on a NA.
  9. This… It made me laugh the other day when I was on track, I had a guy come up to me and ask me about the car what’s been done power blah blah blah and then he said what is the 0-60... I couldn’t tell him as I really don’t know... I ended up saying “very quick”... I then demonstrated that by out dragging a supercharged Ariel Atom down the pit straight (not quite the same thing but he got the idea).
  10. Awesome, Make sure you get some vids and pics dude. I want to see this baby in action
  11. Ah ok mate, sorry dude I should have checked the sizes beforehand. Going 18" would open a whole host of tyre choices (not to mention larger brakes :eyebrows:) but then I know what you mean about liking a set of wheels Hope you manage to find something dude
  12. I would always go with the best you can afford. This is one of two things IMO that should not be scrimped on any car.... the other one being tyres. I am not saying the blueprint ones are rubbish I am sure they are more than capable in normal driving, but when you want to push that little bit harder on those sunny evenings then you may wish that you bought better pads. After all we don’t buy a Supra to pootle about do we
  13. Have you thought about Federal FZ-201's?? I have never used them but I have heard good things about them and they are reasonable on price.
  14. Hi All, I am going to be replacing the Selector Seal on my V160 soon and as the Propshaft will be off I was thinking I may as well do the Output shaft seal as well mainly as these seals are now getting on for 20 years old and could probably do with replacing. Does anyone know what the recommended tool for removing the companion flange so I can get to the Output Shaft seal? I assume that the Output seal can be done while the box is in place?
  15. Cool how much mate? May as well do both seals :-)
  16. Cheers mate, do you know what part number I need to order and perhaps any details on a how to? A search didn't turn anything up.
  17. Hi All, Just did a post track day check over and it looks like my V160 is seeping oil from the back of the gearbox (near the prop shaft). I have heard that it could be the gear selector shaft leaking fluid. Is there a how to on how to replace this oil seal and what part number do I need to purchase? Rich
  18. Cheers Mate, I also love this picture its my desktop background at the mo I am lucky to have got any in car vids. I had to butcher an old camera mount to make it fit a GoPro after I found out that there were no external cameras allowed even though the mounts were Tiger Sealed on and the actual camera was tethered. Unfortunately the mount I made was a little low in the car to see the track which is a shame even so it’s not too bad.
